I can't believe how Mr. Alatorre can keep coming up with the amazing books in this series. I remember when I read the first book and I thought my goodness how in the world does someone come up with such a great idea and then make it into a book that just grabs you. Dr. Hauser and Angelus Genetics may have ran into problems that made us wonder what would happen now. I can't say anything more than that because I don't want to spoil any of the books for you. But we have characters from that time that are still trying to move forward with their lives. If you have read any of the series you will remember the private detective DeShear , that has fallen in love with agent Jaden Trinn. My goodness these two have already been through so much but the action and suspense has not ended for them. I was thrilled to see that this book revolved not only around them but everyone's favorite characters Keeper 27 and 5 year old Constantine. Constantine is supposed to be the only living relation to Dr. Hauser and as such he has put all his wealth into a trust for her. With 3 billion dollars on the line there are a lot of suspicious people that would like to get their hands on it. This book is amazing and I knew that I was in love with Keeper 27, Helena before this book but now I think she is even more amazing. Constantine is such a brilliant little girl but she is also the most compassionate child I have ever heard of. I have just finished reading this book but I am so ready to read the next book to find out what is going to happen to these characters, it seems like it will be impossible to wait for it. I totally recommend this book to anyone that loves a book with lots of suspense, adventure and romance and I guess some science fiction, without having to censor it for under 18, this is the book for you. I received a free download of this book from the publisher. This review is totally my own honest opinion. I would like to thank the publisher for allowing me to read this book before it was released to the public.
Dr. Djimoa Kittaleye, a psychologist, is called to examine an elderly woman recovering in critical care at Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital who never sleeps and keeps screaming, “They’re killing her!” There is no rational explanation for what she learns.
In another hemisphere, Deshear, Trinn, and Constantine are enjoying a well-deserved tropical vacation. Too bad the criminals see this as an opportunity and a day of deep-sea fishing turns into a gun-battle, a shark swim, and a kidnapping.
The action is fast-paced, and the intrigue is gripping. This book had me in its clutches as soon as I began reading. This series just keeps getting better!
Dan Alatorre takes mystery and adventure to a whole new level. The Keepers is fast paced with plenty of action. Dr Kittaleye has not the slightest clue that her situation will be not only life changing but life threatening. Her elderly patient is a psychic and Dr Kitt is sceptical until she realises that the claims are true. Both she and her patient are in danger when they fall into the hands of evil manipulators who are using the patient to trace a five year old child for their experiments. Will they survive the machinations of their captors? What will be the fate of the child who is kidnapped and treated mercilessly? This book was suspenseful and the plot was well crafted.
Hank DeShear is a private detective that has endured tragedy in his past, now he has the responsibility of a 5-year girl, Constantine, that is very special and very sought after. He will do anything to keep her safe and protected, but when he is double-crossed by boat captain, his whole world could implode and he could lose everything, the woman he loves, the little girl he has vowed to protect, and even his freedom, or his life.
Jaden Trinn is a US Agent for a special group. She’s also the woman that Hank DeShear loves. She is just as determined to protect and keep Constantine safe as Hank is, but a leisurely boat and fishing trip will turn very dangerous and memorable for this group. Jaden will have to fight for her life on more than one occasion to get back to Hank and Constantine.
Keeper 27 is a mystery herself. She has special abilities that make her a target for some people to use. She is friends with Hank and Jaden and has a special place in her heart for Constantine. She is determined to find Constantine and make sure she is safe. She may have been under Dr. Hauser’s rule at one time, but now she has the chance to be free and live her life with those she cares about. She has made some connections with special people along the way and will call on them as needed to find Constantine and save her. Her travel companion Dr. Kittaleye is a young psychiatrist that will find a new path to follow, should she decide to take that chance.
The story starts off with a nurse caring for a mystery patient in a French Hospital. The first chapter starts with a mystery and builds up to the action and suspense throughout the story, keeping my interest all the way to the end of the book. Although I have not read the first three books in the series, I had no problem reading or following the plot of The Keepers and understanding the story. The fourth book in The Gamma Sequence is full of action, suspense, angst and great characters. I had no problem reading it as a stand-alone. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more of Mr. Alatorre’s books in the future. I would love to have more of this family of misfits and how things will work out for them. I love a story that starts off with the mystery and keeps me wanting more. I really enjoyed how the story started out and as it went along there was a bit of a different focus. It never distracted from the story and for me it was very interesting to move back and forth between the scenes and get the full picture of what was going on as well as each character’s perspective and what they were enduring on their path to Constantine and her safety.
Excitement abounds as a special young girl becomes the object of an international manhunt. A woman who is experiencing seizures and never sleeps comes to the attention of parapsychologist internist Dr. Djimoa Kittaleye in a French hospital. The internist befriends the woman who relates a story that seems impossible but may have some element of truth. When the woman vanishes, Dr. Kittaleye investigates only to have to run for her life bringing her into the world of Constantine, a young girl with special abilities. Constantine is on a fishing trip in Greece with Hamilton DeShear, former policeman now investigator, and his partner Jaden Trinn when they are attacked by pirates. After fighting for their lives and the safety of Constantine, DeShear and Trinn are imprisoned by the local Magistrate. Hamilton and Jaden must prove their innocence while Constantine must try to outwit her captors. Dr. Kittaleye has to provide information to authorities that she doesn’t know and who don’t know her. There is plenty of action and thrills in this well-written story, where money and science collide in nefarious schemes. Hamilton and Jaden must fight separate battles to escape their pursuers while Constantine endeavors to save her own life. The interplay of the characters is excellent and the fight schemes nicely choreographed and believable. The story flows smoothly and quickly, drawing the reader into the action and into the characters. Highly recommended.
Search and rescue for a child wanted only for her genetic material - 4.5 stars
Dr. Djimoa Kittaleye (Kitt) is a Psychologist who is trying to help a hospitalized older woman (Helena) who is bound by restraints. Kitt listens to an incredible story of future events and eventually helps Helena escape. Helena's captors fit her with a fantastic helmet that allows others to see images from Helina's mind on a computer display.
Helena, formerly "Keeper 27", had looked after the experimental children developed by Angelis Genetics. Helena has the ability to see through other's eyes and to selectively transmit those visions to others.
There is one remaining child from the genetic experimental development of a near-perfect human, Constantine, who is now five years old. Constantine is perceived by shadowy medical professionals as the key to being able to offer healthy, long life to normal people -- especially the ultra-rich and certifiably old. The people who are trying to monetize Constantine's genetic material speak in French or German in the belief that listeners can only understand English.
In the Bahamas, Constantine is on a vacation with her guardians, Hamilton DeShear and Jaden Trinn. They set out on a boat to fish and wind up (this is not a spoiler) with Constantine being kidnapped while Hamilton and Jaden are set up to become shark bait.
Corrupt Bahamian officials bring even more intrigue and quite a bit of violence. One of the Bahamian traditions appears to be the use of Tiger sharks to dispose of evidence, There were some intense shark attack scenes in addition to jailhouse beatings and general brutality.
Most of Constintine's captors had no compassion paired with and a deep desire to get rich from "harvesting" Constantine's genetic material. Constantine got some support from a few of her captors as she befriends people who take a slight interest in her. It was easy to develop an emotional connection with Constantine and the individuals who were trying to rescue her.
Shuttling between mid-winter cold in France and Germany, we got to enjoy sunsets in both the Caribbean and Hawaii. You will be treated to some spectacular airplane and boat rides in this thriller.
You can skip the other books in the series (but I advise you to read them because they are good). A fifth book in the series is on the drafting table according to the author.
Private detective Hank DeShear, US-agent Jaden Trinn and "Keeper 27" are working together in a race against time to save 5-year old Constantine from a gruesome death by medical experiments and torture. The Keepers (The Gamma Sequence Book 4) reminds me in a way of the adventure novels written by Clive Cussler. A blend of high adventure at sea, megalomaniacal villains, and a lost treasure. This page-turner got me hanging onto the edge of my seat. The best book in this series so far! I received a free copy of this book in return for my honest review.
An enjoyable read. My first inkling was that a med drama not quite my tea, but it's less med and more paranormal and action-adventure.
Being part 4 and I have not read the previous, not much was fog. The storyline was reasonably laid out easy to follow. There are a few mysterious items that are clarified on their own.
Have to admit there were some very good sequences in the story, won't spoil them.
I received a review copy and provide this honest review
Hank, Jaden, Constantine, and Helena are back. Hank, Jaden, and Constantine are enjoying a vacation in the Bahamas when the boat they are on gets boarded and Constantine is kidnapped, Jaden is fatally shot, and Hank is arrested and blamed for all of it. In the meantime, Helena is sequestered in a hospital in Paris. Can Hank escape, find Jaden, rescue Constantine and save Helena? Grab this intriguing book and get wrapped up in this fast paced, absorbing mystery.
This is a really exciting read even though parts of it are a bit gory for me. The pace is tremendous and really carries you along with the story, making it a real page turner. I found all the stuff about mind reading all too believable. I'm sure it will be possible one day. The harvesting part is also too believable too - and as gut wrenching to read about as Kazuo Ishiguro's 'Never Let Me Go'. At the same time it's a real thriller of a book. Loads of action, a real cliffhanger and the promise of more to come. Unputdownable. I read the book as a beta reader
This story had me gripped from the very beginning. In a Paris hospital an elderly lady, Helena, is having strange episodes where she exhibits great distress over the danger that someone is in. "They're killing her.", "Please. I must go to her before it's too late." This is put down to bad dreams or some kind of psychic phenomena. At the same time detective DeShear and Agent Jaden Trinn are on holiday with five year old Constantine, for whom they act as guardians. The holiday turns into a nightmare when Constantine is kidnapped. Why is Constantine so valuable to the kidnappers? What do she and Helena (also known to some as Keeper 27) have in common that puts both themselves and those around them in great danger? DeShear and Trinn are determined to get Constantine back safely, but at what cost to themselves. The story takes the reader on a haunting journey, danger and mystery surround the characters at every twist of the narrative. The characters are very real and draw the reader into their lives, taking them on a journey that they might never return from. This is the fourth book in the series but, despite not having read the other three, I was able to follow the storyline with no problems whatsoever. I will certainly be looking to read those other books to learn what has gone before in the lives of these new-found characters. I received this book free from the author but this is review is 100% how I true.
I loved this edge of your seat thriller. A very special little girl, an old lady who "sees things", a Paris hospital, the crystal clear waters of the Bahamas and a rocky cliff on Maui all play a major role a tale that will keep you riveted from the first chapter until the last page. I loved Trinn and Deshear's dogged determination and loyalty and Keeper 27's quick thinking under pressure but it is Constantine, the charming 5 year old with the courage and wisdom of a 35 year old that captured my heart and kept me rooting for the good guys, even when their plight seemed hopeless. If you're a thriller fan you will love this one.
The Keepers: The Gamma Sequence Book 4, my eighth read from prolific author Dan Alatorre. Another page-turning thriller, takes off in the opening pages & never lets up! A pedal-to-the-metal, hair-raising, spine-tingling thriller! "I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)
I love this series. It is a little scary though how deep the corruption goes. This book had more Helena than Hank or Jaden but who doesn't love Helena! It was nice to get to know her better. I can't wait for the next book.
How many favorite books can a person have? Each time I read one of Dan Alatorre's books, I'm convinced that it was my favorite of whichever series of his that I'm reading. Until the next one comes around.
Getting to know Helena better was something I really looked forward to, and I wasn't disappointed. The same goes for Constantine and all the major players. Character development has been a wonderful ride that I've thoroughly enjoyed in these first four books. The challenges my 'friends' faced along with the action scenes, kept me biting my nails enough that I was able to skip meals, and the ending was so satisfying that it easily substituted for dessert.
Now the wait begins for my next favorite! If you haven't read the rest of the series, I hope you give yourself a treat and catch up with us lucky ones who have!
Dan has a winner again. Love this series. The book is well written, full of suspense, and you can't help but love the main characters. How could a fun, relaxing, much needed vacation turn into kidnapping, Hank suspected of murder and Jaden near death? Could Helena be the key to saving Constantine? So many evil greedy people, only see dollar signs when they look at Constantine. Helena knows her "little girl" is in danger but how can an old lady help to rescue her? Can the love Hank and Jaden feel for Constantine be enough to save her? Helena, Hank and Jaden face so many perils on their quest to save Constantine, you wonder how they can survive them all. The ending warmed my heart. A must read. You won't be disappointed. Well worth your time. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary, honest review.
This is the first book of the Gamma Sequence series that I have read, and wow was it an fun ride! Lots of action, many twists and plenty of characters to both love and hate. A very interesting story line that keeps you turning the pages. Dan Alatorre has become one of my favorite authors, and I can't get enough of his work. Another winner from him here. Enjoy!
This is the first book in this series I've read. It's a great read with a plot that evolves quickly (which means you have to keep your brain engaged to keep up).
The basis of the plot was well thought out. Since this is the fourth book in the series and it's the first book in the series I've written there was some instances where a reference to a prior book was not adequately explained but that happens with any series.
This is a relaxing read for any fan of thrillers, although there is scenes that might upset more sensitive readers.
Just completed the ARC for The Keepers, Book 4 by Dan Alatorre - wow! His books are always pulse-pounding with non-stop action and this one jumps in and is unputdownable from start to finish! The characters are well-drawn and the twists take your breath away! I totally recommend this book if you enjoy an unusual story - this one is classified as a medical thriller.
I’ve read the series and this book is well written and a plot that moves fast and action non stop. It’s got good characters and obviously leaves the next book to continue the adventure. Don’t miss this one.
I had a lot of fun with this one. It centers around saving Constantine who gets abducted from Hank and Trinn in the Bahamas. Then, of course, the plot goes crazy to such an extent that Hank ends up accused of murdering Trinn and Constantine. Constantine ends up somewhere for some reason. Helena is somewhere but not certain how she got there. Will Trinn survive more serious fights? Or what? Who is pulling the strings and for what reason? A good continuation of the series.
I loved this medical thriller. Book 4 of the Gamma Sequence books is the best one yet. There is non- stop action and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat. I am looking forward to the next installment. I would highly recommend this series. I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
Absolutely different from anything I’ve read so far. Just when you think you figured it out, you’re wrong. Helena, Kitt and the other main characters are superb and make you want more. Definitely fast moving book. Received a complimentary copy and reviewed because I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Enjoyable, fast-paced thriller with an adorable little girl, Constantine, and a likeable elderly "keeper", Helena. Beware there are a number of gory death scenes. I read this without having read any other books in the series. It would probably be better to read them in order to make the story more complete. I enjoyed the vivid descriptions thrown in at times. The sky cast a warm glow over the sea, turning it a golden yellow-white as the water reflected the sun’s brilliant rays. From the rocks below, the noise of waves crashing on rocks came to her. She crept toward the rocky, gray cliff, leaning forward to see over the edge. Wave after wave smashed and churned against the rocks. The water was white with foam, rocking backward and then rushing forward again, crashing into the jagged black tips of the cliff bottom. It was an army of waves attacking a fortress of stone. Each blue soldier raced forward to challenge the rocks, confident and sure, then exploded in a spray of white and disappeared on the field of battle. Only the blue uniform remained among the white foam. A moment of silence followed—of peace—and then the next blue soldier advanced. Each attack was the same, and yet different. No individual effort could make the rock fall, but as with the Grand Canyon, enough unrelenting effort would turn the rock to sand or wash it away completely.
She gazed at the frail old man. “I think if you believe strongly in people, they will work very hard to not disappoint you.”
This book was great! A well-written, hard to put down page-turner that keeps the reader's attention throughout! Full of mystery, murder, intrigue, and action, oh yeah, there is definitely NO shortage o action, and some interesting stories within stories are all well developed on their own and then tied up neatly for the unpredictable but wonderful ending that leaves the reader satisfied. Chock full of adventure that visits Europe and the Bahamas among other places, traveling on trains, planes, boats, and automobiles, and unforgettable characters that have you rooting for them out loud along with the characters you love to hate. This is all I'll say because I'm afraid I'll leak a spoiler if I go on, you just need to pick this book up and read it. It does fine as a standalone, but you'll definitely want to go back and read the rest (and the other series as well) as Dan Alatorre is a master at his game. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest opinion. You will not be disappointed.
This is a medical thriller. After destroying the last known remnants of Angelus Genetics others take a little girl a ward with them for protection. Their are people trying to kidnap Constantine and take her away. As she is worth tons of money to whom ever has her . There is this old woman in the hospital and she starts yelling out they are trying to kill the girl. A nurse comes in and want to give her a sedative but she refuses it. The lady would not sleep either. She seems to be one that can read minds or predict things that are about to happen. Its lot of people involved then each doing their own thing in order to find Constantine. Some were doing it for the money others to help save her and allow her to live her life as a child.
