I have totally enjoyed this series. This story was a bit more difficult that the others for me, but it was also more inspiring for me.
Laynie goes off to meet Cossack and get the information that he has for them on the attack planned by the terrorist group they have been hunting. They have a mole in their midst and before they can do anything they have to find him/them. News reaches the team that Laynie is dead, she died in a fiery car crash, her body burned beyond recognition - but Jaz isn't buying it and finds a way to identify the body, now they just have to get to where the body is without letting anyone know what the plan is. She and Tobin head to New Orleans where Laynie's body will be laid to rest.
In the meantime Laynie is being held captive by Sayed, the leader of the terrorist group, and he is determined to find out from her where Jaz is. Hmmm, why would he want to know where Jaz is? Of course Laynie isn't talking, not even when one of the moles escapes capture and shows up with Sayed and cuts off all of Laynie's hair, trying to humiliate her before these Islamic terrorists. She ends up with the women that the men in Sayed's army use for their pleasure, but God sent Laynie there for another purpose, to protect the girls and to share Jesus with them. Laynie's faith during her time of torture and persecution is inspiring. She doesn't allow them to use her past to bring doubts, she doesn't despair, she prays, she sings, she loves Jesus through it all. That is the part I liked best in this story.
I wasn't too happy with the two uses of a strong slang word, makes me cringe every time I hear it or read it, but at least the bad language was, literally, "bleeped" out. There are a couple of places where crude or lustful actions are described and for me that was TMI. I didn't need that picture in my head and I felt like it wasn't necessary to give me that picture, the looks he gave her were enough of a clue as to what he wanted. Other than that, this was a clean read.
