I picked this up because it's a charity anthology. Overall, I think this is about a 3 star book but since it's for charity and none of the stories were cliffhangers leading to unpublished future books, which I really appreciated, I've bumped it up to a 4 star review.

4★ Rescued by Her Cowboys by Isabella Laase 8/27. This story was a m/f story leading to a m/f/m story with brothers sharing a young woman. Two older brothers (35+) find themselves helping a 19 y/0 homeless girl during a northern Idaho winter. I liked all three characters but I really liked Rosie. She was endearing and relatable. Cooper and Joel rescue Rosie and between domestic discipline from Joel and sex with Cooper inadvertently start a relationship that I was fully invested in watching grow. I have to admit, I was super sucked into this story and forgot it was a short story. So, when the ending came so abruptly without arcing to the final HEA, I felt very frustrated. I wanted to see how Cooper, Joel and Rosie make a their threesome work. This story absolutely deserved to be a longer stand alone. I liked this story the best in the Anthology so far and I will definitely go check out the authors backlist (the marketing was pretty good at the end as well).

4★ Badgering Her Cowboy by Golden Angel 7/27. This was another shifter story, H (stag), h (honey badger) about a couple meeting up at a shifter rodeo. I admit, the idea of a shifter rodeo (where the bulls are shifters, too) seemed like an imaginative plot and it felt like a fresh idea. Both Thor and Debbie were likable characters, strong personalities and willing to compromise the top position to get what they want from each other. Thor had plenty of charisma and alphatude but was still someone you would invite to a party. The sex scene was very good and the lead up to it, when they spend the day together and the rodeo competition were fun and well written. I liked this one. The marketing at the end was done well (better than any of the others stories if the point is to try and find new readers). I'll check out her backlist.

3★ Marrying the murder by Vanessa Brooks 26/27. See comments for review

3★ The Getaway Ranch Tessa Carr 25/27. See comments for review

3★ The Cowboy's Replacement Bride by Sue Lyndon 24/27. See comments for review

3★ Kidnapped by the Cowboy by Sierra Cartwright 22/27. This started off with a tame kidnapping that became a protection detail fairly quickly. This was the only story so far that was actually a BDSM story and had actual BDSM scenes. I liked it but since it was a short story, it felt rushed and Jacob was really undercooked.

3★ Agent Cowboy by Shanna Handle 21/27. This story is a Ranch Rules Novella. I hadn't read any of the Ranch Rules book and this story promotes all of them and introduces all the couples but I followed along well enough with the basic story idea. Agent Cowboy/Slack finds he likes ranch living, likes the idea of submissive women and likes Rosalie. He doesn't really plan to pursue anything but then she forces his hand (pun intended) and plans change and HEA.

3★ The Painted Lady by Raisa Greywood 20/27. This was a well written, interesting paranatural story. It had a good flow and a tight plot for a short story. Things moved along at a good pace and the MC's were likable. There was no kink or spanky time in this book.

3★ Knocking the Boots by Peyton Banks 18/27. This seems to be attached to an already established series. There was no kink or spanky time in this book. Just two longtime friends that finally decide to take a chance on each other. It was a sexy romp but not too much going on here. If it's part of the series, these seem to be peripheral characters and I don't see where it would propel any other of the stories in any direction.

3★ Halfway Home by Maggie Ryan 14/27. This was a heartfelt story of loss and finding your way home. Both MC's were likable but they didn't spend very much time together. A lot of this story is backstory, flashbacks and other events that don't have the two MC's interacting much. This relies on a relationship 30 years in the making. There was nothing kinky or spanky in this story.

3★ Rogue's Return by Desiree Holt 6/27. So this one was a good short story. The H was smart, sexy, capable and not an alphahole. It had some backstory, a plausible relationship, an easy but somewhat tense resolution to the action/danger scenario and a satisfying ending. This didn't really have a bdsm presence or any sex either for that matter. It was delayed because the H actually did his job and protected the h rather than have sex with her the minute they were alone. I usually prefer sex in my stories but in short stories done right, it works out fine to leave it out if it makes sense.

3★ Wait For Me, Cowboy by Mary Wehr 16/27. This is set in the old west. Penny returns from finishing school to her childhood crush. It's an okay story but I didn't really like Penny that much. Mostly I felt like I was reading a Little House on the Prairie episode only Manly actually did spank Laura in this one. There was even a Nelly like character. It was distracting.

2.5★ Rogue Cowboy by Linzi Basset 13/27. See comments for review

2.5★ His Little Cowgirl by Laylah Roberts 12/27. This is a littles story. It looks like it is a slice of life short for an established couple, Macca and Gigi. It was okay. I don't really get the whole "little" thing so it's hard to be fairly objective. Once they had sex as grownups, it was a good scene.

2.5★ Deep Waters by Alyssa Bailey 3/27. This story had a lot of continuity errors that bugged me regarding what Maggie knew about Jed's predilection for spanking her friend. The first scene at her car after the bar was unexpected, awkward and clunky. But even that wasn't as confusing as trying to figure out how old Maggie and Jed are. She's a judge and has been one long enough to be elected as a Judge in Dallas, try very high profile cases, quit and then get elected again as a judge somewhere else in Texas. Most judges have roughly 20 years at least of bar experience and are 50 or so when they start as judges. That's fine, I'm up for a mature relationship but then she acts like she is much younger. Then they have a discussion about kids and she says she's up for four kids. Just how old is she? Is she the youngest judge ever elected the first time?

So that distracted me because the plot was stale, run of the mill stalker type stuff. The H is bossy and I never believed that Maggie would find that acceptable in the way he did it. I could see her loving it in bed, but all the time like that? Anyway, this books talks about spanking a bit in different contexts, the H threatens her with it a lot, she's open to it sort of but they never get around to it in the story.

2.5★ Mountain Blue by Alta Hensley 2/27. It's a historical story set in the late 1800's where the H is an ice harvester in the Sierras and the h is an abused girl living in poverty with an alcoholic father. The town does nothing to help her in general but Rem finds her freezing in the forest after a beating and takes her home. This is instalove and a rescue story that happens extremely fast. There is spanking in this one after they are married but it's mild and consensual and Birdie (although abused all her life) is quite turned on by it all.

2★ Stark White by Yolanda Olson 27/27. See comments for review

2★ Come Sundown by Stevie MacFarlane 23/27. See comments for review

2★ The Cowboy's Little Girl by Meredith O'Reilly 17/27. This is another (budding) littles story although it's not established and there isn't much "little" interaction. The plot was nothing new, girl gets into trouble bailing her druggie brother out of trouble, stumbles on sexy cowboy willing to help her and looking for a woman to be his little. Her life becomes cooking, reading and napping. And sexy cowboy time.

2★ Charlie's Girl by Kate Richards. 10/27. Eh. This story didn't catch my imagination. Neither MC was very interesting. Dar fled her small ranch to get to the big city after saving her whole life, then breaks down, lands on another ranch, takes one look at the rancher she met and thinks he's sexy, is able to pull him out of financial ruin, decides she really does like ranch life, abandons her plan to go to the big city and stays with the sexy rancher she fell in love with. And it's as vanilla as it sounds. The story is sadly, boring.

2★ Meri's Man by LJ Garland. 11/27. This story is a companion to the story before it, Charlie's Girl. This is about the brother and sister of each of the MC's in that story. It's uncanny how much they are the same type of story. Very vanilla. Beta men and more alpha-y type women.
Meri leaves her small ranch to look for her sister but runs into Cal. Both find their way to the ranch and to Dar and Charlie. There is a little mystical side plot that gets both MC's to the ranch. This story was boring.

2★ Cassandra's Cowboy by Kallista Dane 9/27. This story starts off telling one story and then in a twist changes to a different type of plot. It was a jarring change and I didn't really like it. It did this 180 degree turn that went in an entirely different direction after I was invested in the first story. Also, I was too fond of Kane and the way he ignores Cass and dumps her off his lap or walks away from her like she isn't worth even common courtesy. The spanking in this one seemed inorganic in both parts of the story.

2★ Trusting Her Cowboys by BJ Wane 4/27. This is a shifter, BDSM, second chance story. Gavin (H) leaves his mate, a newbie to the submissive world after 6 months without any explanation to her. Just one last night of club f*cking to say goodbye without saying goodbye. He has to go home and her, a lowly human, just won't fit in. Time to walk away and never look back. See ya, baby. He does tell her she can come to him if she ever finds herself in trouble. So three years later when she gets in trouble she goes running to him (four hours away, rather than use the phone) and then doesn't tell him her problem for a few days because she doesn't trust him. Well, duh. He didn't treat you in a trustworthy way. But....why did you run to him in the first place? I'll be honest here, I don't like second chance stories. These types are the worst. This one was no different.

1.5★ River's Edge by Maggie Ryan 15/27. This starts off with the h being spanked by a long time crush after being away for years and having no relationship with him at the time. Not only does she get a spanking she does not agree to, the H spanks her for something that happened 10 years earlier (that she had already been punished for, he just didn't think she got punished right) that he had no business spanking her for and then he tacks on and immediate second spanking for the current problem he still had no business spanking her for. Then the h gives in almost immediately, goes to a dance with him, gives him her virginity (shes 26) and has no problem when he tells her she's the beta and then it fades away to "I love you's" and HEA, I guess all in one day. I actually would have liked Baine if the set up for the whole spanky thing wasn't noncon, non negotiated, non relationship, and basically assault.

1★ Dangerous Ride by Piper Stone. 19/27. DNF. I gave up on this one about 15 pages in. The author uses words that don't fit the sentence a lot. It was so distracting: "wrath of shit"(did she mean "ration of shit"?), "frothy woman" (does she have rabies?), "wasn't riveted in anything he had to say"(weird way to say this), "no man was going to usurp his authority over me"(wut?). ... and that's when I quit. The H, started off kinda unlikable and then his sudden switch from cuckold to dominate just didn't jive for me. I gave up.

1★ Badlands by Delta James 5/27. Uh. Well. I can copy the major points from the story before this one: This is a shifter (equine), BDSM, second chance story. Rafe(H) leaves his mate after 2 years of dating and on the verge of proposing without any explanation to her. Just one last night of f*cking to say goodbye without saying goodbye. He has to go home and her, a lowly human, just won't fit in. Time to walk away and never look back. See ya, baby. Now three years later, Rafe is sorry he left Izzy and manipulates a situation so he can kidnap her, introduce her to his idea of BDSM and insists she forgives him (which she does in the matter of a day with a ridiculous impassioned statement) None of this was really floating my boat because as I've mentioned I rarely find a second chance romance where the person that left deserve a second chance and this is no rare find. But, then I come to this part:
All things seemed possible until she felt his finger delve between her butt cheeks, tracing her dark rosebud. “Stop it, Rafe. I don’t like…” her words were cut off when he swatted her pussy.
“Maybe not, but you may as well get used to the idea. I think fucking your woman’s ass can go a long way toward righting a wrong attitude, and he who is dominant chooses what hole he wants to use for pleasure.”
I am not new nor opposed to bdsm stories, however, I was appalled by this statement (and she relaxes and goes with it immediately following his declaration). At this point, nothing about this relationship felt romantic or even erotic. I finished the story but it really was not for me.

1★ Runaway Cowboy by Abby Aaron 1/27. Welp. If this story is indicative of the rest of the stories, this is not going to go well. The H in this story is pure trash. It starts off with Kyle arbitrarily, for no reason, forbidding his 18 y/o girlfriend, Izzy from simply going to the watering hole to swim with her friends. This was her "rebellion" after he told her she couldn't go to Florida for spring break. He then decides to spank her for daring to go swimming instead on their own property after he runs her friends off and threatens to tattle to their parents too. For wanting to go swimming, on her property, during spring break. UGH. WTH? It doesn't get better from there. He constantly calls her immature but the minute she insults his manhood he runs away for 10 years without contacting her and abandoning the man that raised him. Then when he meets her again later, he is a jerk again and (unlikely as hell) they start having sex (with spanking) within 10 minutes of meeting up again (in the kitchen with two 9 y/0's running around the house and catching them). Speaking of kids, the one in this story wasn't realistic to me either. This was just not a well thought out short story or characters.

FROM THE BEST OF THE BEST

When I heard about this anthology, I was immediately impressed with the lineup of authors and for an even greater cause. I pre-ordered my copy, and I’ve shared the link for others to be able to purchase.

Trusting Her Cowboy by BJ Wane
IT APPEARS YOU’VE MASTERED THAT HORSE AS SUCCESSFULLY AS YOU HAVE ME

What can I say---Ms. BJ Wane surprised me with this Cowboy Shifter story---but in a wonderful way. I loved the angst, the passion, the hardships, and the surrender that takes place. As a fan of this author, I love that she does series, and this is one that definitely needs to become a series because of the two brothers of Gavin, and maybe some of the ranch hands.

Gavin McCullough will reluctantly agree to assist on newbie night at the BDSM private club he attends. The one thing he never expected was for his wolf to become engaged too. But from the moment Gavin sees Aislyn Lankford, he/they are a goner!

“Frissons of prickly heat raced across his skin as his gaze zeroed in on one woman. His wolf stirred with uncomfortable aggression. Gavin quickly tamped down as every one of his senses went on high alert. Just like he had been told growing up, he knew, without a doubt, she was his mate, the one woman who was meant to be his in every way.”

The plot will have Gavin and Aislyn developing a Dom-sub relationship at the club and meeting regularly. She accepts anything and everything he has to offer her as a willing pupil and submissive. But, when after six months, he says goodbye, both of them are shattered. But more of this story and the mystery take place three years later. The one thing Gavin did before their parting was offered her his card with his number and address—and what a shock when she shows up in the middle of the night.

The story deals with a shifter who has always been raised that he could not mate with a human, and knowing that Aislyn is his mate, he is in turmoil. Thinking Aislyn moved on with another dom after he moved back to the ranch, comes as a surprise. Waiting her out to open up to him puts them both in jeopardy. What happens when she learns of his secret? How will he react when he learns of her troubles? Can the past be changed between a wolf and a human? One where there is a chance of a future and HEA?

“You’re mine, little one. You always have been, always will be, no matter what. Say it. Say you accept me, all of me, now and forever.”

“Yes, to Master Gavin, Cowboy Gavin, and even Wolf Gavin.”

Agent Cowboy: A Ranch Rules Novella by Shanna Handel

The story can read well as a stand-alone, but if you have read Ms. Shanna Handel’s Ranch Rules series, this story takes place at CLAS ranch. It will have FBI Agent Slack at the ranch, where he has been guarding them, especially Josie after her hacking adventures lead to more serious danger.

While at the ranch, Slack has learned to ride horses with the help of Josie. And becomes a working cowboy to fit in while on assignment. He also has had his eyes on a redhead, Rosalie Perkins, who is usually shy. But tonight, at Bud’s, she has put herself in danger, sitting and flirting with three rough bikers. Now Slack has a new agenda, watching Rosalie and keeping her safe. When he tries to talk to her, she smarts off at him.

“Listen here, Agent Cowboy. I came to have fun, and that’s just what I’ll do.”

“Something tells me Rosalie is dangerously close to get a taste of cowboy medicine.”

As the night comes to an end, Rosalie follows one of the bikers outside but changes her mind, and that makes him mad. It will be Slack in the shadows to protect Rosalie before she is hurt.

“You know what you are? You’re nothing but a filthy little tease.” –biker

The story will have Agent Slack doing just what the dominant men at CLAS would do; he will spank Rosalie and give her just want she was after--attention. He must be careful how far things go because he is on the job.

“I’m going to do what any one of these cowboys would do to you right now if there were in my place—give you a good spanking. Teaching a naughty girl a well-deserved lesson with a good old-fashioned spanking on her bottom.”

But what happens afterward? Will they continue as if they are just acquaintances working at the ranch? He won’t be here for long, and then they will probably never see each other again. Will Slack and Rosalie find a happy medium—maybe something that will stick?

“This man risked his life for me. Corrected me. And now—he holds me in the most comforting way. I’m smitten.”

“If you turn down love when it shows up at your door, it might be a mistake you regret for the rest of your life.”

Note to self: This is a new market trend I'm seeing in romance: Consumption Philanthropy and Cause-Related Marketing. While on the surface this seems grand, there are ethical implications that come with this type of marketing that I think readers (consumers) should be aware of:

https://medium.com/@vicky.givingcente...

https://ssir.org/articles/entry/the_h...

I mean, even the Kardashians have used this type of marketing.

I think this trend might have gained recent traction since the Australia anthology that was organized by Skye Warren. From what I've seen I actually think that anthology and cause has done some good, and Skye Warren has been very transparent about how many proceeds the anthology has gained etc...there are still deeper implications to this new marketing trend that's being perpetuated by big name authors. As this marketing trend gains more traction I may come back and articulate on this more. These are just quick notes for myself.

While there's nothing wrong with successful authors donating to charities and blasting it all over their social media profiles, as a reader conscientious of author branding and marketing, that's what it comes across as to me.

I'm very particular about the causes I donate too and the ethical implications surrounding charities and how they're organized, etc. Personally, I do prefer to donate to charities via direct donation, and for a reason. Now, I'm not saying anything is wrong with this particular anthology (although I do think this new marketing trend is problematic in some ways), but I suspect to see more and more of this type of marketing from authors. As I see this, I probably will pay more attention to this new marketing trend. Researching the charities how the authors organizing it follow through, etc.

And I want to add that this is 100% a marketing strategy. Authors have a financial incentive to participate in this type of cause-related marketing. It's proven to boost their sales, not just from this product but all products associated with their business.

ETA: I ended up reading one of these stories and that was enough; it had a non-consensual beating in it. I'll also add that it contains disturbing scenes of two adult brothers fondly remembering the many whippings their father gave them when they were children ('cause, you know, child abuse is just so "hot" and "sexy" and "groovy"). I have no respect for any charity who would take money under these circumstances. If you really care about giving to Covid causes, you'll donate the money directly.

2nd ETA: How to assist domestic violence victims during Covid: https://twitter.com/IMC_Worldwide/sta...

***************************************
I have ethical issues with this anthology. I haven't read this and while I appreciate the desire to give to COVID causes, I have a lot of concerns about doing it this way. All these authors write in the BDSM/DD genre, which is ordinarily fine, but many write non-consent. Given that domestic violence has risen under shelter-in-place, I feel that it's wrong to give to COVID victims -- many of whom are probably also victims of domestic violence -- from proceeds from a book glorifying non-consent. And I would have no respect for a charity who would accept those donations. I look forward to these authors explaining: "Uhm, sure, our stories contain men hitting women and I realize that's the reality of many of your cases, but, hey, here's some money." That's simply too much cognitive dissonance for me to engage in.

IF NONE of these stories contain non-consent, then fine (though another reviewer has pointed other ethical problems). And please don't "at me" with "but spanking isn't hitting!" Legally and morally, if someone hits someone else without their explicit consent, then it is; it doesn't matter where they hit them.

This review is based off of Yolanda Olson's contribution, Stark White.

OMG. Troy is back! This short happens after Deep Blue. So if you haven't read Deep Blue, I recommend you grab a copy do so.

So, in Stark White,Troy Cahill decides to go back to the corral after three years since his encounter with Posey. Unexpected to him, he meets a girl name Daisy that is new to the corral and how it works. Troy offers to take her home to his farm and show her the ropes of the corral and Daisy agrees. Feelings were awoken as either one wasn't as the other expected. Let me tell you...things get interesting at The Cahill ranch. When I was reading this, the author made me remember little details that I forgot happened in Deep Blue and a certain reappearnce of an old character. ;)
This was a fun and refreshing read and made me feel like I was watching a movie. 5 cowboys 🤠 from me.

(This review is for Stark White by Yolanda Olson)

The Devil is back in Oklahoma!
When I heard about this story, I was beyond excited. It's a bit of a sequel to a previous book by the lovely Ms. Olson and as the previous book is one of my all time favorites, I knew this tale would be amazing.

If you've read Deep Blue, which you should have because it's amazing, you know a little about Troy and his beautiful garden.

Stark White catches up with the mysterious Mr. Cahill years later. A little older, a little wiser, Troy returns to the Corral. But when an unexpected wildflower is found ripe for the picking next to him, Troy has to decide if his garden is truly complete.

Stark White is filled with twists and darkly delightful turns and is a reminder that not all cowboys play by the rules.

This anthology excited me because of all the authors included in it. I've read the majority of the stories and I honestly have not been disappointed in any of them. I want more of Thor and Debbie from Golden Angel's story.........I loved BJ Wane's story and am eager to see if she writes Cody and Drake's stories. Piper Stone's story pits sassy Falcon against Butch and it was so much fun to read. Loved it! Those are just a few of the stories that I loved and that stood out to me. Do yourself a favor and go get this collections. It's an awesome anthology and the proceeds to go a couple of good causes!!

Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy

I'm the first to admit Westerns and cowboys aren't normally my thing BUT when some of my favorite authors join an charity anthology for a great cause well how can I refuse.

I loved getting to visit with Gigi and Macca from Laylah Roberts' Montana Daddies series, these are characters I know and feel invested in so it was great to get to visit them now that they are at Sanctuary.

I also enjoyed Linzi Basset's contribution to the anthology. I'm an avid Linzi follower and reader and love how she writes BDSM romances. I see the potential for a spin-off story in the story she wrote, I hope she ends up writing it!

I had a chance to read Stark White by Yolanda Olson. In this story it's been 3 years since Troy Cahill has seen Posey. 3 long years. He decides to visit the Corrals again and low and behold he just may have found what he was looking for. Daisy gives him feelings he hasn't had for awhile. She may just be the one he's looking and needs to complete his life. Definitely should read Deep Blue before this. You'll have a better understanding of what Troy does. And of course Yolanda doesn't do normal cowboy story so buckle up and get ready for a crazy ride.

After reading the entire anthology, there is a mix of very short stories and novella length reads. Given than this was purchased for charity, I will say that it was worth the money spent.

Trusting her Cowboy - bj wane - 4 stars
Cowboy + wolf shifter + D/s leads to an engaging story with interesting characters. I enjoyed Aislyn and Gavin very much. I appreciated that they had interactions and developed a real relationship, not just sexy times. I am definitely curious about Gavin’s brothers and potential stories for them.

Halfway home by Maddie Taylor - 4 stars
This was a super sweet friends to lovers read. I loved Audrey and Nate and their reconnection.

The painted lady - Raisa Greywood - 4 stars
Interesting characters and a good plot, I would be interested in reading more by this author.

Kidnapped by the cowboy - Sierra Cartwright - 4 stars
Well developed characters and interesting plot. It makes me curious about the author and related works.

Rogues return - Desiree holt - 3.5 stars
This was another quick, but well developed read. I found myself curious about the characters and wanting to know more about Rogue, Liz, and their Soldier of Fortune friends

Badgering her Cowboy by Golden Angel - 3.5 stars
A fun story that introduces characters from another series. Definitely ups the curiosity factor!

Cassandras cowboy - kallista Dane - 3.5 stars
Interesting story that makes me what to know more about what happens to these characters.

Charlie’s Girl by Kate Richards - 3.5
A sweet story with interesting characters and a good plot.

River’s Edge by Maggie Ryan - 3.5 stars
A quick, read that was sweet and sexy and the same time. I liked both Peyton and Bain and wanted to get to know them better.

Agent cowboy - Shanna Handel - 3.5 stars
Likeable characters and decently sketched out plot- I would actually like to see a full story for this couple

The getaway ranch - Tessa Carr 3.5
Engaging and complete story.

Deep Waters by Alyssa Bailey - 3 stars
Of the three stories I’ve read so far, this is the most developed and enjoyable. I like Jed and Maggie and found myself curious about the Waters siblings. Unfortunately, there were inconsistencies and editing issues that pulled me out of the story and had me wondering what was going on.

Badlands - Delta James - 3 stars
Lots of potential here, but it seems like a lot of the story got lost somewhere a long the way. Rafe and Izzy has potential to be interesting characters, but I lost respect for her when she flipped from struggling to be heard to forgiveness and acceptance after less than one day together and a physical encounter that started as less than fully consensual.

Méri’s man - lj garland - 3 stars
This is a companion to the previous story. It’s entertaining, but the plot is a bit far fetch and it didn’t feel like we got to know the characters as well.

Rogue Cowboy by Linzi Basset - 3 stars
I liked Rachel and Hunter, I found their story interesting and appreciated the intrigue element as well.
There were editing issues and language choices that didn’t really make sense. There was also an unresolved plot element.

Wait for me cowboy - Mary wehr - 3 stars
An okay quick read. The female lead was beyond annoying
The cowboys little girl - Meredith oreilly - 3 stars
Interesting story, good characters.

Knockin Boots by Peyton banks - 3 stars.
Yani and Rashad made this a fun quick read. It would have been a strong read if the editing issues had been fixed.

The cowboys replacement bride - Sue Lyndon - 3 stars. Based on what I read here, I would be interested in seeing the rest of the story. Characters are interesting.

Marrying the murderer - Vanessa Brooks - 3 stars
Entertaining, but a bit far fetched.

Runaway Cowboy by Abby Aaron - 2.5 stars
I’m not entirely sure what I just read. 2 chapters of young love followed by him reappearing 10 years later. Almost no character development and no real plot. It’s almost like this was a book idea that was shoved into the anthology.

Mountain Blue by Alta Hensley - 2.5 stars
A very short read, but entertaining. There wasn’t whole of character or plot development, but I liked what I did see of Rem.

Rescued by her cowboys - Isabella Laase 2.5 stars
I’m really not sure what I just read. There is zero character development and not much of a plot.

Dangerous Ride - Piper Stone - 2.5
Not entirely sure what that was.... the fact that the heroine willingly stripped for the hero to be “punished” within minutes of meeting him set an unbelievable tone for the remainder of the story.

His little cowgirl- Layla Roberts - 2 stars
Ummmm..... not sure what that was.

Come Sundown - Stevie MacFarlane
I couldn’t finish this one. The heroine is whiny and unbelievable for the time period.

Stark White by Yolonda Olson
No, just no. How is this even a romance? Kidnapping, veiled references to human trafficking and murder..... nope, not for me

Is there anything better than a book chock full twenty seven (27!) sexy spanky Cowboy stories? Well, yes there is, as it turns out. It's a book full of sexy spanky Cowboy stories which is raising money for two amazing charities - Direct Relief Coronavirus Response and Feeding America Covid 19 Response Fund.

Dozens of fantastic authors, including Vanessa Brooks, Alta Hensley, Piper Stone, Stevie MacFarlane, Maggie Ryan and Alyssa Bailey, have contributed this anthology collection and really is a lot of fun indeed.

I couldn't possibly review all of the books in this collection - I haven't actually finished them all yet. But I couldn't resist giving you a quick rundown of my three favourite stories so far.

Marrying the Murderer by Vanessa Brooks

Schoolteacher Verity Lasse is new to her job and new to the town of Elmo, Colorado in this delightful historical romance. When she meets the recently widowed father of two of her students, there is an instant attraction to the (frankly delicious) rugged rancher, Jake Calhoun. There's just one problem: she thinks that he's the man she saw committing a murder a few days earlier. There is enough doubt over the identity of the killer and enough chemistry between the pair of them that a friendship grows between the two of them that builds into something more despite the small minded gossip of the townsfolk.

She must decide whether she wants to commit to spending the rest of the life with the man she loves, knowing that he might well be the person she saw taking another man's life. This is a wonderfully engaging story with plenty of sex and spanks nicely woven into a fully fleshed out storyline which builds towards a satisfying denouement.

Verity is my absolute favourite kind of historical heroine. She's intelligent, independent and a pioneer of rights for women. She also gets regularly upended and spanked by her dominant cowboy. As a well-spanked feminist myself, I heartily approve.

Mountain Blue by Alta Hensley

The hero of this beautiful and emotional historical story, Rem Langston, isn't actually a cowboy. He's an Ice Harvester so I'm not quite sure how he snuck into this story collection but I'm very glad that he did. He's a tough, rugged, powerful man who, when he finds a woman attempting to sleep rough in the freezing snow and winds, brings her home with him in an act of gentlemanly compassion.

Birdie Bluebell is a woman without a lot of options in life. She has a violent drunken father whose behaviour makes it necessary for her to risk camping out in sub-zero conditions rather than return home. She accepts Rem's offer out of necessity but it turns out that it was the very best decision she could make.

The romance that inevitably blossoms between Rem and Birdie is artfully and sensitively written. There are some wonderful supporting characters in this book, most notably Rem's widowed mother who provides some stable maternal support that Birdie has been lacking in her life for so long.

The road to the couple's happy ending is a difficult one as the dangerous and dark machinations of the Bluebell family threaten to take everything that Rem and Birdie have managed to build together. Birdie is a resilient woman who deserves a Happily Ever After. And happily, Rem is the very man to give it to her.

Dangerous Ride by Piper Stone

Set in the present day, Dangerous Ride is a wonderfully hot and sexy story. Right from the very start of the story - astonishingly soon after they have met - the two protagonists, Butch and Falcon indulge in the steamiest sex possible with a wonderfully generous amount of BSDM-y punishment. And while they carry on this fashion for the whole of the story, it's the first sex scene which is undoubtedly the best. There is just enough dubious consent in the initial set up to make it as breathtakingly hot as hell while still keeping it very firmly on the side of being something that both parties are very happy to participate in.

There's a tightly plotted story about horse thievery to keep the whole book ticking along nicely. After an initial misunderstanding, our two heroes find that they are very much on the same side which is good because Falcon and Butch are falling for one another hard. There is some wonderful dialogue, a nail-biting climax and did I mention that this book is HOT? Because it is. It's very hot indeed. Absolutely scorching.

Cowboys for a Cause is a wonderful collection of different and diverse stories. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It will only be on sale for a limited time so ensure that you snap up your copy as soon as possible. Sex, spanks, romance and the chance to help two amazing charities, what's not to love?

This anthology includes:
1. RUNAWAY COWBOY by ABBY AARON
2. MOUNTAIN BLUE by ALTA HENSLEY
Rem Langston was born and raised an ice harvester. He would cut up the ice and then it would flow down the river so it could be sold. When he was informed there was a beaver building a dam up in the mountain, Rem knew he had to get it cleared out before it caused a blockage and then tarnish his reputation for having things delivered on time. As he cleared out the final debris from the beaver he noticed movement. Taking out his gun, he thought to stop any further damns plus have meat and fur for him and his mother. What he didn't expect to find was Birdie Bluebell scrunched up next to a small fire with only a dress that was so thin he could see through it and no shoes on. To top it off, she had what looked like the beginning of a black eye and her lip had been split. Rem couldn't just walk away. It was bitter cold and would start snowing soon. Without much of an argument, he picked her up and carried her down the mountain to the home he shared with his mother. And that's when the true adventure started.

3. DEEP WATERS by ALYSSA BAILEY
4. TRUSTING HER COWBOY by B.J. WANE
Gavin was a wolf-shifter. He was also a member and Master at the local BDSM club. When the story opens we see him going in and dreading he had agreed to help one of the newbies who wanted to join. When Aislyn came out of the office he was completely thunderstruck. She was his mate! Unfortunately, he had had it drilled into him from almost the beginning, his secret must remain safe and no humans as mates. That mistake had already been made in the past with disastrous results. But that didn't mean he couldn't scene with her. For six months they were exclusive both at the club and occasional dinners and other outings until his father, the alpha of the pack, needed to retire and it became time for Gavin to take over.

5. BADLANDS by DELTA JAMES
"They say great warriors return as great horses. The very best of them retain their humanity and can shift between worlds."
Believe it or not, after all the thousands of books I've read in my lifetime, this is the first equine shifter book I've ever read and I was thrilled with the bit of history and mystery Delta James included in the storyline. This second chance romance between Rafe and Izzy was emotional and powerful with all the twists and turns, along with the danger involved. I'm hoping the author will make this the first of a series because I would really like to read the stories of some of the other characters.

6. ROGUE'S RETURN by DESIREE HOLT
7. BADGERING HER COWBOY by GOLDEN ANGEL
I remember meeting Debbie and Thor in "Chasing His Honey Badger" as side characters then. Now to see them meet at the Cowboy Rodeo and watch how their original meeting went and the chemistry both of them had towards the other, along with the interactions of part of Thor's herd and Debbie's cree was absolutely thrilling. Once again Golden Angel has brought these characters to life with relatable personalities and scenes that are just firecracker HOT.

8. RESCUING HER COWBOY by ISABELLA LAASE
9. CASSANDRA'S COWBOY by KALLISTA DANE
10. CHARLIE'S GIRL by KATE RICHARDS
11. MERI'S MEN by L.I. GARLAND
12. ROGUE COWBOY by LINZI BASSET
13. HALFWAY HOME by MADDIE TAYLOR
14. RIVER'S EDGE by MAGGIE RYAN
15. WAIT FOR ME, COWBOY by MARY WEHR
16. THE COWBOY'S LITTLE GIRL by MEREDITH O'REILLY
17. KNOCKING THE BOOTS by PEYTON BANKS
18. DANGEROUS RIDE by PIPER STONE
19. THE PAINTED LADY by RAISA GREYWOOD
20. AGENT COWBOY by SHANNA HANDEL
21. KIDNAPPED BY THE COWBOY by SIERRA CARTWRIGHT
22. COME SUNDOWN by STEVIE MACFARLANE
23. THE GETAWAY RANCH by TESSA CARR
24. MARRYING THE MURDERER by VANESSA BROOKS
25. STARK WHITE by YOLANDA OLSON
26. THE COWBOY'S REPLACEMENT by SUE LYNDON
27. HIS LITTLE COWGIRL by LAYLA ROBERTS

Since this anthology is only available for a limited time I wanted to get this review posted so those of you who have yet to pick up a copy would have some idea as to the caliber of stories it held. OMG!! I've started reading some of my favorite authors and can't wait to finish this. I'll update as I go along, but not only are these authors promoting a great cause to help out in a time of need, they've put their best foot forward and given us stories that are so full of hot alpha males, strong females, scenes that were riveting, and chemistry that captivating. I would recommend this wholeheartedly.

Cowboys For A Cause is one exciting anthology by so many gifted and talented
authors. Each and every story was entertaining and features one of my favourite
subjects, sexy cowboys.I do hope that the authors intend to extend their novellas
into full length books.

Come Somedown :by Stevie McFarlane
This story had me smiling and laughing out loud at times .Carrie Ann Meadows
is one hell of a flirt. She is looking for romance, like the heros in the penny dime
books that she loses herself in.Playing one suitor off against another backfired
badly, and saw Carrie Ann cooling her backside off in the river when she pushed
Micah MacPherson too far.He had enough of her bratty behaviour. To keep her
grandmother's reputation intact, she must marry the one man she has sworn off.

Charlie's Girl:by Kate Richards
Charlie's dream of being a real rancher was going down the drain along the ranch
funds.Charlie's luck changed when he met Darlene Mackay stranded on the side
of the highway.Darlene had dreams of working and living in the Big Apple. She was
sick of ranch life, but luck was not going her way until she met Charlie. Can Darlene
help Charlie out of the mess that he was in.Can magic happen amongst the chaos
and mess. She left home to find something. She had been wrong about what.

Getting Away Ranch:by Tessa Carr
Maddie's first meeting with Jude was memorable for all the wrong reasons and went
downhill from there.

"You might be daddy's precious little snowflake at home, princess, but here you'll pull
your weight.And you'll learn to behave."Hear me?"
"I've never been anyone's precious anything," she whispered."Ever."

This is an excellent story and well worth a read.Life had not been kind to Madison, and
nightmare plagued her dreams. Her screams echo through the night. Can Jude and The

I have not as yet read all of the stories but look forward to each and everyone of them.

This is a wonderful anthology of cowboy stories, there is something there which will be sure to tickle any readers fancy and then even better is the fact that the money raised is going to a cause that has touched absolutely everyone’s life all over the world.
I am sure that everyone is able to appreciate how essential the funds raised from this book and the way ion which these will be used to help those that have been left in need in what had been and still is a very difficult time.
Halfway Home – Maddie Taylor
This was a wonderful written story by Maddie Taylor and it fitted in this anthology of stories absolutely fitting into this simply riveting assortment that simply fulfilled everyone of the wild west and cowboy stories you could possibly wish for.
Audrey had finally decided to return to her home after being away for quite some time and after staying away for over seventeen years is fit to fight for her grandmother and the wishes that she held dear.
Herr childhood friend and dearest friend from all those years before had also been a great confidant and she had grown up with him whilst she ad been with her grandmother at Halfway, even though it had been a great man years since she had seen him she was sure that she would still have some of those previously held feelings.
However, when she had meets him again, she cannot help but see him with a whole new pair of eves and he has grown up in to quite the man.
Will he be able to help her?
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

My review is for Kidnapped by the Cowboy by Sierra Cartwright...

Discovering Hidden Fantasies and Desires...

All Jacob Carter wanted to do is live on his ranch and forget his past. In another life he did things he wanted to forget. His former commander and mentor Hawkeye, head of Hawkeye Securities had other ideas. He offered Jacob a one time deal that would make things even with each other. Hawkeye more than once got him out of a dangerous situation that could have ended his life. Jacob did not want anything to do with that life anymore, but felt indebted to Hawkeye, so he agreed to the job. Also, one look at who he would be protecting and he was more than curious and a little intrigued.

Elissa Conroy knew Hawkeye from way back. Unfortunately that friendship had cost her to be a target for Hawkeye's enemies who wanted to cause harm to him. When Elissa meets Jacob for the first time, the sexual chemistry is overpowering. She is attracted to his dominant demeanor and gorgeous looks. Jacob senses a submissive vibe in Elissa and he could only hope he could bring that out in her and take it to the next level.

As Jacob and Elissa bring to light their inner yearnings, danger is lurking in the shadows. This was a wonderful novella by Sierra Cartwright and I enjoyed it immensely.

This is a wonderful collection of stories by some of my favorite authors. I always love a good cowboy story and in this collection there are 26 amazing stories. I haven't had a chance to read all of these authors before but I am looking forward to reading their story. There are many of my favorite authors in this collection and I was absolutely thrilled to see their story in here. I love how this collection is for a good cause. This book will hours of enjoyment and I can't wait. I agreed to review Halfway Home by Maddie Taylor and I loved it so much that I had to buy it when it came out. I can't wait to read the rest of the stories but if they are anything like Halfway Home, I am going to be happy.

Audrey has come home to Halfway because her mother is contesting her grandmother's will. Audrey is a traveling nurse and hasn't realize that home is where she should be. She meets up with Nate who she has been secretly in love with since they were kids. She never thought she would have a chance with him. Nate has loved her for years and is thrilled to have her home. Will they realize that they were meant to be? Will her mother win her suit?

A month's worth of bedtime stories. I think the longest story took only about three hours to read. All are good for pleasant, if a bit kinky, dreams. Hmmm . . . I like most of the the stories. But, as with any anthology of the magnitude, there were a couple I just had to skip over. Candy parties were just . . . eeeewww! And Honey Badger MCs and stags just wasn't working for me. But generally, most of the stories were at least interesting. Something for everyone here. Basic contemporary romance to sci-fi to paranormal. I will admit, my favorite story was by the author that had me borrowing the book in the first place. Sierra Cartwright is on my must buy list for a reason. Her story here did not disappoint and even caused me to squeal. *spoiler alert* Hawkeye know Bonds! OMG! How awesome is that? Anyway, that one story near the end of the book made slogging through all the rest worth it!

This Anthology has absolutely fantastic authors.
Rogue Cowboy by Linzi Basset
Hunter offers to buy Rachel’s ranch. She refuses to sell. But Hunter wants more than just her ranch. One date, two years ago, has left them both craving more.
Rachel agrees to participate in a “Cowboy Dating Auction,” with her friend Anna doing the bidding. Anna sets her up with Hunter. Rachel had no idea who her date is, until he enters the dining room. At first wary, Rachel soon realizes that Hunter is the Dominant Alpha male, who might be capable of luring her inner submissive to life.
I am not going to give away any spoilers, so suffice it to say, this is a beautifully written, romantic, exciting story full of adventure and surprises and human growth.

While I've purchased the anthology, I was given the opportunity to review Halfway Home by Maddie Taylor. I'm not usually a fan of stories that reveal themselves in both present & past time, which this story uses a lot. However, it really works with this short story to help flesh the history of the 2 characters. Having grown up together, both Audrey & Nate have always presumed that the other saw them as family, while each of them secretly having deeper feelings. Even though I wanted to dislike this because of it's use of the present & past, I couldn't help but like the characters so much that it didn't matter how their story presents. Through in a fame seeking family member to add some nice drama & this was a great way to pass some time.

Trusting their hearts

My review is for Trusting Her Cowboy by BJ Wane
I was so impressed to read this story by Ms. Wane and her foray into a new and different genre for her!
Aislyn longs to be trained as and explore her submissive side and is paired with Gavin to do so. While their chemistry is intense, the sex scorching hot and their D/s relationship is perfect, secrets end it all.
Years later, fear, desperation, lies and deceipt will bring them back together. But enemies will have to be vanquished, trust built, secrets revealed, lust satisfied and hearts healed in order for these mates to have a future!
Well written, engaging and with two hot brothers I can't wait to read more about. This was a treat to read!

This book got lost in my TBR list and popped up yesterday as I was searching for one of the authors. I've searched on Amazon and can't find it, so I'm assuming that it was a temporary type of release. So I have to say this here.

If you like Cowboys, and you like sexy cowboys, and you like sexy cowboys who treat their women right, then you really need to read this book.

I purchased this because Vanessa Brooks had a short story included, but as I read the other ones, I realized this was a very good mix of authors. It needed some more proofing, but I could look around that because the mistakes were minor.

Overall, if this is ever released again (or if it is under another name on Amazon), grab it and enjoy!

I was given the opportunity to review Maddie Taylor’s “Halfway Home” as part of the Cowboy for a cause anthology and wow I really loved this one...
Audrey’s grandmother had passed away and Audrey had to make the trip from Boston where she works as a nurse to Halfway Nebraska and to the one man she has loved since childhood, her neighbour and best friend Nathaniel.
Nathaniel has loved Audrey since forever but when relegated to being big brother he finds the moment to take charge.
With a little bit of Hollywood glamour and scandal thrown in made this a joy to read and I just had to read it in one go..

SUPER SEXY COWBOYS!!!!

WOW - an anthology full of super sexy, demanding and fierce cowboys! How can I not read it! I love cowboys!

Rogue Cowboy by Linzi Basset: This story is so very sexy, intense, thrilling and highly erotic. I fell hard for the sexy alpha cowboy Hunter. He is demanding, a sweet talker and dominating in every delicious way!

Rachel is the perfect submissive to Hunter's dominating ways! I absolutely loved these two characters. Their chemistry was oozing off the pages. Every interaction between these two was intense and explosive. I could not get enough of them. This was an amazing short but delicious story!

Rogue Cowboy by Linz Basset
In this book of anthologies there are many great stories to read, one is Rogue Cowboy. It is sizzling hott, sexy, thrilling and the characters are perfect for each other.
Hunter is the dominant male, sexy, strong, who knows exactly what and who he wants in a woman. And he’s found her in Rachel. She’s feisty, sassy, and also a strong, independent woman. With a submissive side to her, which she has a desire to explore.
After a one night together Hunter wants more, will he be able to convince Rachel they have a future together? It’s a definite read. I loved this story. The author writes with a passion you feel down to your bones and you feel it in your heart.❤️

This is truly an amazing group of authors for a even greater cause. What’s not to love? Hot and sexy cowboys.

I have read Rogue Cowboy by Linzi Basset and loved it! Absolutely fell in love with Hunter and Rachel’s characters. Both of them are ranch owners with a passion that goes beyond horses. Hunter wants more but Rachel isn’t sure if it’s her he wants or her ranch. She’s still on the fence about him even though he makes her weak in the knees.
Hunter is a dominant that knows what he wants and what she needs. Can they trust one another and move forward? Or in the end will he be all alone? I definitely recommend this book and authors!

I loved all the stories except the last one. It didn't fit the book at all. I am disappointed that after reading all the great stories that since it was the last it tainted the book for me. The story was just too strange and didn't match the theme or the flow of any of the other stories.

The one thing I do like about anthologies is that I find new authors to read and love. This book gave me 4 new authors that I plan on checking out all the books they have. It was a great read. Longer than I expected but the stories were rich and robust.

The BDSM and/or Spanking theme in most of the books was something I really liked.

I loved this book with the many authors writing this book and the different stories. Who doesn't love cowboys?
