An incredibly painful romance, this novel has one experiencing all the angst that comes in the wake of one of the most painful ways to end a relationship. Having jilted Dean at the altar, Ruby knows that he will be less than welcoming and she certainly doesn't expect to receive any slack from the rest of the town. But one look at Dean and Ruby realises that despite her enduring love for him, the pain she has inflicted goes far deeper than she imagined. Dean has hardened himself against the one that got away, but seeing her distress in the wake of her parents' death, brings out the protectiveness in him and his heart melts in spite of his inner vows. It takes time for Ruby to realise that living her mother's dream is behind the choices she has made but when faced with the biggest opportunity to ever come her way, she is torn once again between following her dream or living it right where she is. This story is well written, romantic, and emotional. It is also a standalone and does have a good ending. I received a copy of this book as a gift from Booksprout and this is my honest and voluntary review.
What a really wonderful romantic story. I just fell in love with Dean what a thoroughly lovely person he is portrayed as . He was in love with Ruby but she stood him up on their wedding day and ran off to New York to be a model. He was thoroughly devastated and she broke his heart. She came back home to Lockwood to settle her parent estate as they had been killed in an accident. Dean was still in love with Ruby but did not want his heart broken a second time. Ruby, Ruby, Ruby what are you doing? Do you know? Are you going to stay or are you going to run away again? These questions will be answered eventually. This is just a really lovely read and I have just found out that this is the second book in the Cohan Brothers book so I shall now have to read the first.

This was a great story about Ruby going back to her hometown after jilting her fiance on their wedding day. Ruby had many influences in her past that molded her into the person she became. Dean struggled to come back to the land-of-the-living after the love of his life left him at the altar. He had a lot to overcome, but when he sees Ruby, his cold heart comes alive again. Both Ruby and Dean battle their pasts and have to overcome their character flaws. Both have a lot of love for each other, but is that enough? This book was an easy drama-like read. The chemistry between Ruby and Dean singed the pages. I would recommend this book to those that love clean sweet romance.

His Ex is about finding the courage to follow your own dreams and take a second chance at love. The story of Ruby and Dean is a sweet romance with very little drama but lots of emotion as you see the couple face what happened 4 years ago and finally start to heal from it. I love Layla Holt's writing style and I really like this series. I'm enjoying getting to know all the characters better as the series progresses. Whilst this book could be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the series in order to better understand some of the things mentioned. I look forward to discovering which brother is next!

His promised bride ran, in search of a modeling job in New York, without telling him. After being in New York the last four years, Ruby has to return to Lockwood, to attend her parents’ funeral, then sell their restaurant as soon as she can. The lawyer she has to see is Dean, who she left behind, and she isn’t surprised when he first lays into her about leaving without explanation. But he realized that wasn’t fair, and softens enough to begin helping her get things started. Will they be able to keep working together, or will trouble always be between them? This is a well-written, powerful story, and you will be glad you read it. I highly recommend this book!
This wasn’t quite as good as the first one. I’m not sure where Lockwood is supposed to be, but I assume it’s in America since the heroine lived in New York City. But the author used UK terms like knickers. I liked the hero, and understood his anger and hurt. I wasn’t wild about the heroine. She left Dean at the altar to chase her career 4 years ago, and maybe that was best so they both grew up. But she still seemed like she was half in and half out of the relationship when they get back together. Still, it was a good quick read and I would recommend it.
Such a great read, that was hard to put down. This one really gives second chances a run for their money.
Dean got jilted at the alter and he hasn’t seen Ruby for 4 years but now she is back after the death of both her parents.
There was such a lot of hurt on both their sides but so much chemistry it was hard to deny. It doesn’t take much to set their relationship off again but will she turn tail and run again when she gets a better offer or will she realise that the dream she has been chasing haven’t been hers at all. Is there still a chance for Dean and Ruby to have everything they ever dreamed off and more.
A great series that you will want to read and loose yourself in. Go on, you know you want to.

Layla Holt has written a story with an interesting story line and well-developed characters. She reminds us of the danger of trying to fulfill someone else’s dreams and allowing fears to rule our lives. Dean and Ruby for all they knew each other failed to have good communication. This is a good story and if you didn’t know there was a happily ever after you would be kept guessing to the end.
Is this a second chance? Ruby stood Dean up at the altar to pursue a modeling career in NY with only a departing email. Four years later, she's in his office to the reading of her parents' will and to close their estate but what about the closure for Dean? Why did she leave? Is there still residual feelings? I really enjoyed this emotional story and the well-developed characters. I would highly recommend it.
Great characters. A wonder story with that hometown feel, I was immediately drawn in. Loved the relationship between Dean and Ruby and the easy friendship they had. A strong story that pulls at the readers heartstrings. A book you just can’t put down! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
You can't help but fall in love with everything about this book. The story line pulls you in and holds you captive until you read the last words. The characters are engaging, intriguing and easy to fall in love with. A great second at romance story line you'll be glad you read.

What a beautiful story about forgiveness and love. Dean and Ruby were a perfect fit from the get go. Even though they both fought the chemistry between them, in the beginning. To have spent 4 years not being able to move forward for the lost love. Looks like Ruby realized her errors and had grown up to know that Dean was her life and love. Glad that they finally got their wedding 💗
ruby leaves dean at the altar, and comes back years later for her parents belongings and runs into dean, can these two come together again and make it work or does the same issues come between them again. This was a very raw and emotional story and i highly recommend it

A fantastic second chance romance and book two in the Cohan Billionaire Brothers series! It is a fast pace and enjoyable attention grabber that is well written, well developed, and emotionally deep. The characters are endearing and have amazing chemistry between them. I loved it!! Definitely recommended!

Dean and Ruby definitely had a rocky road to navigate through... I won't give anything away major from the book, but you could understand why Dean was dubious of Ruby's intentions at first, wished the epilogue was a little longer.

Oh wow! Loved Loved Loved it! Only 2 books in this series and already both are my favourites 😁 this had such a lovely ending but hopefully we’ll get more of them in the next book!

This was a fun and emotional book! I fell in love with Dean! What a great guy and you couldn’t help but love and admire Ruby. These characters really took you with them through their journey to find what they really wanted!
This is a great second chance romance. Dean is too good to be true. Ruby is immature and self centered. I wasn't sure she would ever see things differently. I like seeing characters learn and grow in a book. The happy ending was good. I loved the role reversal at the end of His Ex.
Made for a fun read even if I thought they fell back in love quite fast. Would have preferred to see them explore their feelings more rather than being pushed into each other almost instantly. Loved the end though.
Dean and Ruby have a second chance at romance. She left him at the altar four years earlier. Now she is back to settle her deceased parents affairs and Dean is their estate attorney. Will the past mar their future?
I loved Dean & Ruby's story. This was an incredibly emotional one for me. And a new author. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Interesting story about two people so in love with too much garbage in their past. You can read how love can have you do things you will regret for years. Great read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very last. It has been a very rare occurrence that I could just pick up a book and read it in one day; but, I was captivated by these characters and their amazing love story instantaneously.
