A deadly virus. A society in ruin. Are you ready for the extinction event?
Three months ago, a lethal virus swept across the nation, forcing Noah and his friends on a treacherous journey to survive.
After escaping a sinister research compound, the group have settled in to a new community. Life is quieter. The infected have eased their assault. For the first time in weeks, Noah and his friends have found peace.
But when a devastating new development in the virus transforms the world all over again, Noah is left stranded in a harrowing new landscape.
In a radically transformed world, how far will Noah go to protect the ones he loves?
Extinction is the fourth book in the Surviving the Virus post apocalyptic survival series. If you enjoy stories of ordinary people thrown into harrowing new circumstances, you'll love Extinction.
Ryan Casey is the author of over a dozen novels and a highly successful serial. He writes gritty post-apocalyptic fiction, throwing normal people into devastating situations and exploring how they react and adapt. He has also written several detective mysteries and thrillers. Across all genres, Casey's work is renowned for its rapid pacing, unforgettably complex characters, and knockout twists.
Casey lives in the United Kingdom. He has a BA degree in English with Creative Writing from the University of Birmingham, and has been writing stories for as long as he can remember. In his spare time, he can be spotted walking his West Highland White Terrier, has a passion for cinema and television, and probably spends a little bit too much time in the pub.
This series kind of went down the drain for me. For one thing, it seems like from the end of the last book and this book some tension and break occurred between Noah and his friends, though we did not see what actually transpired. The virus and even the walking dead have retreated far into the background, so much so you can forget what got the world to this awful state. We were left with endless angst and personal introspection and a horrific group of sadistic savages. The depravity was way over the top. The only character I still have concern over is Barney the dog and I will not likely see what happens to him in book 5. I will just believe that Barney found some good people to care for him.
Extinction, book 4 in the Surviving The Virus series, features an event which once again, changes how the virus ravaged world works. The infection and infected become far less of a threat than the few survivors. Noah, Eddie, Kelly, Zelda and Jane end up separated in various different situations. The series remains one of the most unpredictable apocalyptic survival thriller series I've read, and that's saying something given the wide variety of them I've read. Extinction ends on a huge cliffhanger, but that's all I'll give away about it. 5/5 stars!
Well I've just finished book 4. When I first started reading this series I felt maybe it was for the younger audience, I was wrong. There has never been a dull or boring moment where I've had to skip a few pages as in other books I've read. I feel drawn into the characters, feel their pain, heartache and strength to survive. I'm not mentioning anything about Noah Eddie Kelly Jane either as would hate to spoil things for the readers. I'm off to book 5 now is getting tense
