Liam is a veterinarian who was bitten by a wulfleng  which is a human bitten by a wulfan. Wulfan are born as werewolves. Not everyone lives thru the change. Liam is stronger and can do things that have never been heard of.  When Enforcers are called out to stop an uprising of wulfeng, Liam has become a threat as he is more than a wulfeng, he has become a mutant caused by someone who wants to build an army of them. Experiments on Liam and a group of homeless men who Liam has been helping, has made all of them a threat to the wulfan population.Who is doing this and why? One of the Enforcers is a female called Sam who is a mate to Liam. He just couldn't believe it until Sam took matters into her own hands. There's intrigue, mystery, betrayal and life-changing events. This is not just a book for the women, it's a great book for anyone who likes stories of shifters. I'm really happy that this is a series. One book would never have been enough. I have read the first book and this one each in one sitting, they are that good. I received this Earc in exchange for a honest review.

Liam Erikson had attempted to protect his dog, Keen, from a strange wolf-like animal attack but ended up getting bitten. He now knows about the wulfan since his life had been changed that night. He and Sam, a wulfan enforcer whose job was to put down rogue wulfan, drove up to the farm where he lived and Keen jumped out, tracking a scent right to Liam’s back door. To Liam, in human form, it smelled like a skunk. But Sam said she didn’t think so, and she shifted to use her sharper senses. Dillon, the one who had bitten Liam, had carried a mutated version of the wulfan virus that created a huge, vicious wulfleng – the virus driving the wulfan insane. But Doc Hayek believed Liam’s wulf could fight it and he may yet survive the mutant part of the infection. In the meantime, Liam stayed in his human form. His landlord and friend, Peter, had also been bitten by Dillon and had lost his mind and had to be caged.

After checking that the farmhouse was empty, Liam and Sam started into the brush to search for the intruder and Sam took off after something. Liam yelled to stop, but he heard a snarling fight and, without thought, he shifted and gave chase as he smelled the wulfleng and someone’s blood! Was Sam bitten? Despite both of them running full-out, the creature ran faster and leaped onto a moving car that took him away from them. They went back toward the house, tracking everywhere the creature had been, figuring it had been exploring the entire area – to familiarize itself? And Sam told Liam it had been standing there in the bush, almost as though waiting for them. Who was it watching them? And why?

Again, I am so very impressed with the author’s writing. As we saw in Book 1, this is an original and unique look at the shifter story, not what you may be expecting. The vivid and realistic descriptions of the scenes will put the reader right there, chills and all! The characters continue to be well-presented to the reader to bring out a strong response to them. I really love this series, both for the relationships among the characters and for the fascinating story line about the mutant virus and whether Liam will be able to avoid the madness. Don’t miss this wonderful series. It’s amazingly good and well worth your time!

Based on the first two books in this series, I would say this is a vastly underrated series and a total hidden gem, especially if you're a fan of shapeshifters and fantasy thrillers. This is a combination of fantasy and science fiction in that Wulfans are nature-developed mutants who are born with a virus that allows them to shift into wolf form. Wulfengs are those that are infected by the virus when they are fully human and if they can get past the transition, they become Wulfengs. But there are differences between the Wulfans and Wulfengs that we find out more about as the series continues. The storyline in this universe is that some lab has developed a mutant form of the virus that is having unexpected effects on not just the Wulfengs, but also on the Wulfans. This book picks up right where the first book left off, and I love the introduction of the Nightshifters. When I first came across this series, I thought it would be a fun, escapist "fluff" book. But it's turned into an unexpected gem and I've become invested in what will happen to Liam and his friends, and to the greater Wulfan/Wulfeng community, as well as to the humans they live among. I am definitely looking forward to the next book!

Special thanks to the author and publisher, and also to BookSirens for this advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoy this series. In each book, things just get crazier and scarier. I adore the dogs in these books. Keen is my fave, although she isn’t in the book as much as I’d like, for reasons you will see when you read. You really need to read the previous books as there is a lot of information that you need, although they are glossed over in this book. Finally, a lot of answers are in this book. Liam decides to do something really crazy, but it is the only way to find out who is behind everything that has been happening. Sam and Liam are heating up just before he decides to do the crazy thing. There are a lot of fights in the book that are just awesome! OMG. I had to put the AC on because I was overwhelmed and heckling the book, lol. My dad was laughing at my commentary of cursing, laughing and other emotional outbursts. What Liam can do is superhero amazing with his changes. Things only get crazier and amazing as the book goes on. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and I can’t believe there are only two more books to go. *sniffles* Say it isn’t so! More books, prequels, etc. set in this world. It is absolutely fascinating and very different from other werewolf/ wolf shifter books.

So different!

I am really into this series! The first book was Nightshifter and I wondered slightly at the name. This book Nightshatter, explains it. L E Horne has envisioned an entirely different wolf shifter world. One where there are werewolves, or Wulfan, and others known as Wulflen. Wulflen are humans who have been infected by a virus and made into Wulflen by an unknown organisation. The mutant Wulflen are distrusted and disliked by most Wulfan partly because the virus is unstable, the organisation looks on them as fodder for their militia and the Wulflen are physically stronger and faster than Wulfan. In my review of Nightshifter I remarked on the authors knowledge of anatomy. In this book it is the psychology of the homeless and those children in foster care that are highlighted. It is a book that is adventurous, action packed and thought provoking! I’m looking forward to the next book!

I would recommend this book to any paranormal book buff. You'll be glad that you did.

When I first started reading this book, I found it a bit hard going with all the extra information. In this second book the originial characters from Book One are trying to find out about an unknown group that were discovered in the first book; and are suspected to be behind Chloe and Dillon's characters from the first book. I plowed through the first few chapters and was glad that I had, I found that this second book is just as well written as the first. The flow and writing are just as good and the story is so well written that you feel like you just can't put the book down in case you miss something vital. The author manages to draw you in which is always a sign of a well written book in my opinion.

Please note that I received this book for free but am voluntarily reviewing.

I love paranormal series, especially those about shapeshifters, particularly wolves.

This is Book 2 in L.E. Horn's Nightshifter Series. While it could be read as a stand-alone, it does pick up exactly where Book 1 of the series, Nightshifter, leaves off and it's a continuation of that story. So it will be so much better if the books are actually read in order. These characters are great, they really grow on you. The shifting world the author has created is very unique ~ it's highly detailed and very well thought out. I'm really looking forward to reading more as this is going to be a 5 book series!

Nightshatter picks up right where Nightshifter left off. I really like the continuity of the continuation of the story arc. The implications that crop up when Jason and Malcolm show up about Dillon and Chloe had me shuddering at the thought. What happens when Liam goes undercover? Where does he end up, what happens, and what does he do? I really like Nightshifter wulflengs! I loved how they backed Lee for the most part. Karama got her pounds of flesh in for those that went against Lee! Who are Walter and Lily? Read and see what happens!

I am completely in awe of this series. I thought book one was fantastic, but little did I know how much this second book was going to blow me away. I love the world this author has created and am impressed by how intelligent, action-packed and involving the story is. In this outing, Liam goes undercover to infiltrate the rogue group that's circulating the virus, to find a cure and to see if he can help stop his friends from dying. As he penetrates ever deeper into this underground organization, he finds that he has a chance to make a difference in the lives of several of their victims. I fell in love with each one of these characters and can't wait to see how their stories play out in future books. All I can say is, I'm Team Nighshifters all the way! Is there a t-shirt I can buy??

I was able to download this sequential novel from my KindleUnlimited account. As with book 1 of the Nightshifter novels, this number 2 was an excellent mood changer. The ending offered more closure than that of book 1, but I will have to press on to book 3 anyway and see how it goes. A very compulsive read - I have added L.E. Horn to my need-to-read file.

If you are into fantasy this series is for you. There is a bit more sexual input than I am comfortable with but it is a story that just pulls you along. The protagonists are surprisingly human, and I like that in my SF.

A good 2nd

Book two is a lot more of an action story than book one but it is not a lesser book. Continuing the story, I’d really call it book 1b than book 2. The main character comes to his own with a deftly described backstory that enhances instead of interrupts the storyline. There is less emphasis on characters from book one and many new characters are introduced but, everyone is still there so you won’t miss your favorites. The story is not completed here but the ending is satisfactory so if you want to stop reading, you can, without feeling disappointed, which is really nice. But it does leave you wanting more so I think most readers will carry on and buy the next book.

The book is the second installment of the Nightshifter series and the story-line flows well in this book.

I enjoy that even though this is a series tge story-arcs wrap up nicely in each installment. There is a good lead in and a bit of mystery to be explored moving forward but for the most part tge story-line resolves.

This book pulls you in with rngaging characters and a great plot flow. I feel it still needs more world building and character development but you can see it coming together and I really enjoyed it. The story and world is well paced and feels natural. You can see the evolution and it grows more solid and better definined in each book. Definitely a series to keep an eye on!

This book ruined my day! I sat down to read a couple of pages with my coffee, and ended up sitting at my table until dinnertime when I finished the story. The author has a great understanding of human nature and an imagination that creates a magnificent world beyond nature. the characters were developed in depth, and a whole new crew joins Liam as he goes undercover to find the dark forces creating the crazed mutant werewolves. The book creates a world of great realism with forces and relationships not found in this world. Most books dealing with the supernatural put me off a little, b ut this one is certainly one of the best I have enjoyed.

This was a excellent Werewolf story. From the beginning different from the normal rules that are almost always followed in Werewolf stories. From the way the packs are more loosely set up concentrates on the characters and their struggles with the mutation.
I don't want to say more, as to not ruin it. If you have grown tired of reading the same thing over and over again and would like a a fresh view on a different yet not overly changing the basics. This is for you. Also in this time of the pandemic this story fits perfectly. Horn wrote it very well to keep you turning pages or listening until it is done. Excuse my grammar and run on sentences.

The story continues where book 1 left off. Liam is infected with a mutant wolf virus. The Board thinks it’s best to have him locked in a cage until more is known about the virus. Not wanting to be in a cage, he goes into hiding with a plan to seek those who infected him. He is recruited and on his own to discover it’s secret.

Just couldn’t put it down. It is an emotional roller coaster (love, betrayal, loyalty). New characters are introduced and you love them from the start. Looking forward to the next chapter in their lives.

Nightshatter book 2 of series A Werewolf Thriller is of course a thrilling read. A on the edge of the seat read and a roller coaster ride of emotions and feelings. A cat and mouse chase to locate who is creating man made werewolves. A great adventure story which makes the heart race, emotional, tear jerking, including the odd laugh out loud moments and moments when you want to yell out watch out: it’s heartbreaking yet triggering. Stories of certain lives of characters might trigger a reader’s emotions if they shared a similar past experience.

Liam, the continues his journey of self discovery while infiltrating a mysterious organization. A group of homeless men are coerced into volunteering for a unnamed job with consequences they are not aware of with the thought of money, food, and a Job. This is the second book in the series and just as good as the first one. I can not wait to read the next book in the series. I believe this author is going to be one of my favorites if his writing continues to be as good as the 2 books I have read. I would HIGHLY recommend BOTH books, not just one.

In Book 2, the difficulties of becoming a "wulf" continue to escalate. The conspiracy is also reaching out to entrap the unsuspecting. Difficult choices must be made to try and keep everyone safe, but not all agree in the direction they should turn.

I love the continuing growth of the suspense of the story, but the growth of the characters is amazing! I'm not sure where the next step will take us readers, but I am excited to see.

Can't Get Enough - Awesome Series

What we have here is not just a great story, but one of the best writers to come along in awhile. L.E. Horn keeps the pace moving. Doesn't bog down. Characters are real and makes you care about them. Each one unique. He does his research, so therefore the background is real. Not that werewolves are real but in this book they might as well be, as Horn adds well-thought-out anatomy as a strong foundation to his creatures. I'm heading to the third book.

What can I say about the second book that I haven't already said about the first?

This book just got me more connected and emotionally invested in the characters from the first book, and then introduced new characters that I fell in love with.

LE Horn really has a way with words, and making the reader absolutely fall in love with the characters, and hate the others that so deserve it ... Book Three, here I come!!

To sum it up ... READ THIS, highly recommended!

The mystery continues, who is making the super wolves that go insane? Liam goes undercover with his mate in his head. They find the facility and there is a battle to end all battles. This was a great book because of the wonderful characters and the great story line. The world has been built that keeps you engaged and curious from start to finish. Once I started, I was kind of mad that I had to sleep because I wanted to know what happened next. I recommend this to anyone who like action and a mystery built in.

Loved this book. A human veterinarian is bitten by something infected by a mutant virus while saving his dog. Now he and his small group of friends are in the race of their lives trying to find a cure. In the midst of this, he falls in love and worries about infecting her. The book had my heart racing one moment, crying the next, angry another. The emotions feel quite real and suck the reader in. I recommend this book to any adult paranormal lover.

A great second book in the series

This book continues from where book one left off. Liam must find a cure for the wulfan virus that is causing madness. He is infected and doesn't have much time before he goes mad. With his mate's support, he grows strong. Lots of action, suspense, humor, male bonding, and a touch of romance kept me turning the pages. I really like the author's style, too. This is more of a realistic werewolf series rather than a supernatural one, and the rich detail of the transformations was fascinating. Perhaps werewolves are real after all.

I love the wulvs just as much as the dragons. The characters have complete lives. They use their histories to give them background on how to shape their presents. The relationships they have are intense and rich. They are able to not only learn from what has happened but also what is happening. There is true growth in each of the characters. They aren’t all necessarily good characters but they are well rounded and are not just simple cardboard cut outs.

This is an amazing sequel. It's full of action and adventure. There's heartbreak but there's also determination. As Liam grows into his werewolf he is becoming even more than he already was. This is definitely a thriller but there are so many different emotions that play out its unreal. Liam and Sam's developing relationship is just icing on the cake. I love it! Definitely recommend it.

Book 2 starts with a bang! Liam has volunteered himself to be the mole for discovering just how far the rabid Wulfleng virus has spread, who is behind this uprising, and then finds himself in the dangerous situation of being scrutinized as he tries to protect those who have also found themselves in the cross-hairs. Betrayals, intrigues, mysteries, soul-mates and legends... a little bit of everything can be found within this conclusion to Liam's direct storyline.

Just when Liam has a better understanding of what is happening to him, he is caught in the middle of pack politics. Talk about being dealt unfairly. Problem is, he has a lot to lose if he does not turned things around.
