Jill is busier than ever. A man who has just been released from prison asks her to clear his name. A bestselling author's new manuscript has been stolen, and she is tasked to find it. As if that wasn't enough, she makes a chilling discovery about Grandma's new business venture.
A loser step-father, a stolen manuscript and a village store that sucks are just a few of the things in this book. There's also clowns dying of heart attacks, car trouble and a search for a new accountant.
One problematic thing, though, is related to some things that have happened before. Jill confronts her grandmother about what she has been teaching Florence and threatens to ban her from seeing Florence. Her grandmother's response is 'Good luck with that.' This shows yet again the arrogance and mightier-than-thou attitude that she has. Her grandmother has continually flouted the law about what sups can and cannot do and has even bragged about that.
It's time for her grandmother to be put in her place and to realize that she is not above human or sup law. Still, I doubt that will happen.
There's car trouble for Jill and her grandmother's hotel for sups in a non-sup area shows how things can go wrong really quick, especially when involving vampires.
There's a new elf in the series. It's also made very clear that her grandmother does not like the fact that Jill married a human.
The story, except for her nasty grandmother, is pretty good.
I really enjoyed this book. Jill always seems to do a lot of investigation stuff, but in the end; she always seems to solve all the problems, and always gets her man or women. I really had a good laugh towards the end of the book regarding a person name. The comment Jill made just made me laugh so hard, and it was a stressful day, so I really needed that.
I am so excited to see that Jill is finally standing up to her Grandma. It's been a long time coming, but Grandma really deserves this. Hope she continues to do this, and especially holder her ground when it comes to her Daughter.
Assignment Abbott #44 Witch PI #38 It's been a while since I went into the world of our trusty witch PI, and this one was again quite entertaining, you can pretty much anticipate different events within the book, but there were some great storylines in this one, and Jill actually besting Winky was great. The names of people are always a highlight.
And no Goodreads I'm not a robot - thanks for asking one million times - once would suffice.
This book seems to be a bit short. Although Jill goes on to sorting out her cases, life for her and her family and friends seems less complicated than usual. Jill does appear to be mellowing out, not as snarky since having a child. But then the book was fun. This is such a great and wonderful series and I can hardly wait for the next book.
Little Florence is becoming quite the little witch and learning her lessons well. Jill is teaching her daughter all about being a witch in the human world, but what I really like is how Jill goes the extra mile to solve cases. My favorite case this time is when Jill figures out what happened to a man's younger brother who went missing years before.
Jill has several jobs going on, a mysterious missing manuscript from a well loved and very popular author, a young man charged with the murder of his brother, vinyl theft, dying clowns and an all too close to home the issue of Florences' powers. Snarly, sassy and fun!
Fabulous characters that interact with each other beautiful! Wonderful plot twist and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series.
I find the series very entertaining. Sometimes I can see the solution to the investigation, sometimes not, but I'm always amused by the characters and their antics. An easy read for a relaxing evening.
I have found this series to be an enjoyable light reading. I was concerned whether the author could keep it interesting without being too repetitive. But she has. The only complaint I have is how easily the main character solves her cases.
She did it again, I enjoyed this book even though it fell short and seemed to have let me down with stopping at 83%. That was disappointing to pay for one thing and to be cheated.
Three.jobs in one week, winky and Florence running amuk, what's a Mum to do? Jill is running off her feed in this book sadness, murder, love and magic oh my!
A good set of easy to read books. I wish Jill had sold the cat after the 1st book though! This is book 38 of, so far, 38 with the next book released Feb 2021 It is far fetched but then it is about a witch!
This book is filled with fun and joy. Another bunch of adventures for Jill. Why are the clowns dying? Where did the book manuscript go? And what is 5 year old Florence up to? Definitely recommend this one!
Good, well written story. Lots of things happening at the same time. Grandma is still Grandma. Did not immediately known who had done it. Like how the story was written. Will read more stories written by this author.
