If Masculinity is 'Toxic' Call Jesus Radioactive

Rate this book
In, If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive, bestselling author Doug Giles offers a view of Jesus that CNN and the ladies on The View will probably not like. That said, Giles is a guessin’ that his take on the 30-year-old Rebel from Galilee will be a breath of fresh air to people who’re sick of postmodernism’s soft focused, politically correct, pale-skinned, wussy Jesus that the enemies of the cross are foisting upon the washed and unwashed masses. Drawing heavily off the Book of Matthew, Giles’s exposition of the overt masculine traits that Jesus exhibited, both in word and deed, will forever change how you see and hear The Son of Man. Many topics touched on this spicy tome have been ignored by gelded ministers beholden to their crowds' finicky palette and their purse strings, of course. In, If Masculinity Is ‘Toxic’, Call Jesus Radioactive, you’ll see painted in Matthew’s prose and Giles’ wicked insight and sense of humor that Jesus Christ was anything and everything but a doe-eyed thirtysomething Mr. Rogers do-gooder. Be prepared to have your religious idols smashed and life challenged like never before as you plow through this book.about the author ...Doug earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas Tech University and his certificates in both Theological and Biblical Studies from Knox Theological Seminary (Dr. D.James Kennedy, Chancellor). This book is fantastic. I never knew who Doug Giles was until Gary Demar recommended a movie of Doug's on Amazon. This book is so good and it was very relevant to the situation we are living through. The response from some pastors is exactly what Doug is confronting head-on. The pulpits are full of pastors that are more concerned with not offending people because they have huge mortgage payments to make rather than to be prophets and speak the Word with boldness and without being politically correct.

Doug goes through the book of Matthew and shows how manly Jesus really was and is. He was a master at offending the religious hypocrites of his day and confronted sin head-on. No dancing around issues. Jesus was a tough man and what he accomplished by dying for his people on the cross, took guts, courage, and fortitude the likes that many men today lack.

I highly recommend this book and read it with my sons. Thank you, Doug Giles, for writing this book as it was a godsend to me. Very timely and providential that I read it when I did.

The content of this book is spot on. The church and men need to hear it. The structure from a literature standpoint is very ugly but it does not take too much away from the premise: 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

A fantastic look at what is wrong with the modern church and how Jesus is portrayed by "feminized" churches.

I bought two copies of this book. One for my youngest son who is confronting all of the radical feminist theory espoused at his university (a Christian university, but liberal nonetheless) as well as a copy for the rest of the family.

Author Doug Giles, a minister in his own right, provides readers with a thorough study of the book of Matthew in a way that will lead readers to see how badass Jesus was--our liberal churches portray Jesus as a groovy hippie figure who loves everyone without any judgment--a passive man of the "it's all good so long as you are tolerant" message. That view is in error--nothing could be further from the Biblical text, examined chapter and verse.

Jesus epitomized rugged masculinity. He didn't soft-pedal or mince words and he didn't shy from confrontation. His torture and death were gruesome. Some men think following Jesus is for wussies and suckers. But Jesus was the most badass of men and only toxic to those who will not accept Him as Lord and Savior.

This is my third Doug Giles book and all three have led me to buy additional copies to give to loved ones. They are that compelling. Giles has a colorful writing style--one that speaks to young people, Joe Six-Packs, and people with a sense of humor. If you always look like you're sniffing a turd, go look for another book--maybe something on the extraction of sticks from posterior orifices since Doug Giles won't be your cup of tea.

My son is majoring in theology/ministry and wants to become a pastor. He is going to use this text and the Book of Matthew as a basis for a Bible study he will lead for his fraternity this year. Something tells me those young men will see Jesus in a new light. Highly recommend especially for teens and young adults who have a worldly view of the Son of Man or who think Jesus just isn't cool.

I was right!

I read the bible cover to cover a few years ago as a new Christian. To me it read more like the movie 300 than the lazy, feel good bs I hear at the church we go to. Believe it or not, I liked church less after actually reading the bible. But, this book basically told me why. It let's me know that I am not alone in thinking Christ was not a weak-hipster. Instead he was a man, with passion, fortitude, and unwavering strength. Read and enjoy this book. And, thank you to Mr. Giles.
