Hands down - Ginn Hale is currently my favorite author, in any genre.

The Rifter series was originally offered as a 10 part digital series (a single story broken down into ten novellas); Amazon offered them as a set. (I believe one can still access the digital content in various forms from Ginn's website.)

The world and the story that Ginn lays out in the Rifter series is creative and complex. It's a fantasy story set in a multiverse where time proceeds at different rates for different realms (and not necessarily in a linear fashion). Ginn has opted not to tell the story in a traditional chronological order, so the reader needs to remain open-minded for the first several installments until you get your bearings - this is not a negative; it's a feature that makes this story so compelling.

It's very difficult to review this series without getting spoilery (and this is not a series you want to be spoiled for). It was haunting, bleak and tragic and yet I loved every minute of it. It ultimately ends on a happy note but you'll want tissues along the way. Prepare for the feels.

Lots of notes and highlights - most of which are marked as spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Amazing

This book had amazing world building and characters and I just loved it. I really hated for it to end because I was so immersed in the people and in the story. It’s gonna be hard to find something good to read after this.

Top shelf fantasy with some steamy mm romance

Loved it. Cried over it. Miss them already.

After finishing this I felt a sense of loss I haven't felt after reading a book in a very long time.

Amazing amazing series!!
I've been immersed in this world for weeks now and I'm so sad it's over. It's difficult to review without spoiling anything. I felt lost more than a few times reading it but it was so so worth it. I'm already thinking about reading it again now that I know everything.
