Hit Hard: A Football Sports Romance Book

Rate this book
Kellan Holmes is the number one college wide receiver in the country. A star, on and off the field, he is determined as he pursues his goals of graduating and being drafted by the NFL. But Kellan also relishes the not-so-serious parts of his college parties, hanging out, and hooking up. With no desire to settle down with one woman, Kellan enjoys the casual company of many different women at MSU. Leah Pritchard is a twenty-something nurse who is done playing the field. She is ready to settle down and put down roots, complete with the white picket fence. The only thing missing is her Mr. Right. Leah is looking for someone serious and isn’t willing to settle until she finds someone who checks all the boxes. When an on-field injury sends Kellan to the hospital and into the care of Leah, the attraction is undeniable. Suddenly Kellan is desperate to convince her that he is more than just a good time college guy. But Leah isn’t sure she can take the chance of her heart being broken if Kellan can’t handle the difficulties of a relationship. Will they be able to find their way, or will Kellan and Leah be on the losing end in the game of love?

Jamie McGuire meets Anna Todd meets Heidi McLaughlin, that is author Kade Charest in her latest novel, Hit Hard. I love romances that immerse you in the tangled web of love and desire; Hit Hard definitely did that for me. A perfect love story of an up and coming football player and a hard working, soulful and witty nurse will have you turning each page wanting more. I loved the humor, steaminess and (some) heartbreak that oozed from this novel. I enjoy Kade Charests’ writing style; not only did she make me laugh out loud, she also had me smile (and blush). A great romance novel is one where each scene is thoughtful and well played, no gaping holes in the storyline or cliche scenarios such as the eye-rolling “damsel in distress” or male character with “mommy issues” (so very much overplayed In my opinion). Instead, Hit Hard was an amazing story that was intense, jam packed with emotion and hot, sexy love. I can not wait to read more from Kade! Please write your next one soon!

This is my first book by Kade Charest and I am *in love*. Kade writes with a lot of humor and heat, and it was a really fun love story that was a perfect escape. The connection between Kellan and Leah is immediate - though Leah does her best to resist. I loved the chemistry between them and the punchy dialogue. A fun read that makes me excited to see what she brings us next! Definitely recommend!

Very authentic! Greatttt read!
I loved this story. The H is a hot shot college football player sent to the hospital for a hard hit on the field. The h is his nurse and has no clue about anything football. She even refers to the wide receiver as a 'catcher.'
H is enamored, she's treating him like a human being, not as a commodity she can take advantage of. She doesn't act like she knows him because he's on TV and a number one draft pick.
But he's a partying college athlete and she's a hard working nurse looking to settle down and live the domestic life. She doesn't trust his sincerity when he pursues her but she can't deny the attraction.
The primary conflict of the novel is the h attempting to overcome her inability to trust H is going to do the right thing and not intentionally hurt her. It's about them developing a relationship and learning to trust one another. The emotions and conversations h has with H as well as her girl squad are so authentic and very much like something I'd see with my girlfriends. Any other author and it might have seem contrived but it was perfectly done.
Oh and jaysus the sexy times are like, damn.

H on h:
But here is a hot chick—no, a hot woman—having a real conversation with me and she is not at all fazed by the fact that I am the top college wide receiver, on track to be a top NFL draft pick, or that I am amazingly handsome.

Again, highly recommend. I love sports romance. If you like Amy Daws Harris Brothers series, or any of Karla Sorensen's sports romances, you'll enjoy this story.

In conclusion, always treat an athlete like a person...who knows, you might get lucky ;)

A heartwarming story

Player meets love of his life.

Kellan is your typical football star having the time of his life in college. An unfortunate event has him running into our heroine Leah. His whole outlook is flipped upside down.

Once they both commit to being more than just friends, their relationship goes on a wild ride.

A wild ride for self discovery for Leah, as she learns to be able to let go of the things she cannot control. A wild ride for Kellan to prove himself a mature partner.

Although at times Leah’s outlooks gave me whiplash and made me want to shake her silly for going on bout the same “issues” she had, I was team Kellan all the way and wanted their HEA. I was not disappointed there.

I enjoyed reading this one.

P.S. A small secondary character really shone through though and I’ll be stalking in hopes he gets his HEA, because he also really deserves it.

I did not get the chemistry. Felt forced. The heroine was a bit immature. I did not care for her. It felt as if the story was going nowhere. Round in a circle with nothing happening. I love slow burn stories, but have something of importance happen. This was just chatter. Blah, blah, blah.
