Everyone has a past, even Hassidic werewolves. Leery's past has a taste for blood and wants revenge.

There's a killer running wild in the East Village, and according to the witness, it's Leery Oriscoe in wolf form. When Van Helsing puts him on a desk, Leery storms off, leaving Dru to prove his innocence. But to do it, she will need help from her mother, and that means a trip to Hell.

It looks like Dru picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

After another body drops, Leery is in the clear, but the Rabbi that turned him becomes the prime suspect. To make things worse, the Zombie mafia's pet necromancer assassin is in town, and she's gunning for Leery.

What better time for his Rabbi to ask him for one itty-bitty teensy-weensy little Mitzvah?

Werewolf Woes

Another whopper by Erik Henry Vick. After reading the first two books in the Claw and Warder series, I was delighted that Mitzvah was beyond my wildest expectation. Nice blend and description of the plethora of otherworldly beings. Leery's doppelganger
is an enigma. Leery's only option is to meet Dru's parents to get to the bottom of the puzzling predicament he has been put in. I could not stop laughing at the outcome of the meeting. Apart from being a page turner with a fluid storyline, this book is brilliantly written.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great humor and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

The Claw & Warder series definitely gets better and better with each novel! Love the characters, love the action, love the detail, love the humor! Each volume adds a bit more to characterization, fills in some details (Dru's family is a real kick), ramps the action (great spell casting). and drops a few hints. Even though the premise is to equally represent law and order in hommage to the titular TV show, I enjoy most the SIS procedural aspect. While the two previous books adhered to a near 50/50 presentation, the "order" doesn't really kick in until the 85% mark of Mitzvah and lacks the exciting legal intrigue of Arms Dealers, feeling more like a rushed, foregone conclusion. This novel is definitely a showcase for Leery and Dru. C&W is one series I really look forward to reading and I'd like to see an extended series.

You just can't go wrong with Erik Henry Vick

Man, this series just gets better and better. The Claw and Warder books are all really good, enjoyable stories and each one stands on its own, so you can start with any of them. Just be sure you have enough coffee.

Vick’s writing is many cuts above the rest – he creates completely believable worlds, populated with utterly real characters, then he puts you right next to them throughout the investigation and trial. Vick’s characters are more real and complex than many actual human people I know. It’s kind of eerie.

Look. Just buy it, read it, enjoy and then check out the “Other books by Erik Henry Vick”. Close your eyes and click on “Buy”. (Actually, the Blood of the Isir series and the Bloodletter Collections are sequential, so plan on reading them in order. They’re totally different stories set in totally different worlds, but they’re every bit as good.)

DISCLOSURE: I received a free advance reader’s copy of this book with the expectation that I would post an honest and original review.

Book Three for Thee and Me

This is a tale cheekily based on the Law & Order series of stories which spawned a burgeoning franchise based in various major cities.
This particular series is based in New York, but not the NY you may know, but one in which the magical world lives comfortably alongside the mundane.
If this is the first time you're reading about this, then please begin at the beginning, so the characters in this story will grow in your imagination as does the fleshing out of the main characters, with their flaws and claws becoming increasingly familiar and comfortable in your mind's eye, to the betterment of your enjoyment.
This tale is by far my favorite, due to my familiarity with the family inside the covers.
I smile st the thought of the rogueish lead and his partner, as they grow in my thoughts with each book, so help yourself to a plateful of magical fun as they perform their jobs.
Relish the increasingly popular series of Claw & Warder, until you reach this one, Mitzvah.

This is the last of this trilogy and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. Leery Orisco was half werewolf and half Jewish and when he turned into his werewolf form he kept his hat with the two long locks hanging for his ears. And when Drusilla Nogan, whose parents lived in hell, was so magical that she was there to protect Leery when he was in danger from all the magical evil people they were always after. They were a wonderful team.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 15 times in the 3 stories.

As for the narration: I can't tell you how enjoyable George Newbern made this book. I would listen to him again and again.

Mitzvah is episode 3 in Erik Henry Vick's Claw and Warder Series. Strong spells are used to confuse the crime scenes and lay blame where it doesn't belong. The team eventually trace the spells all the way right back into the heart of the zombie mafia. This time the heat is turn up and the fur is flying.

The storyline is fast-paced, action-packed and well-written. It is filled with twists and turns, magic, danger and intrigue. The characters are well-developed and engaging, bringing back all of those we know and love. I will definitely be staying tuned for Episode 4!

When I first saw this book I was skeptical, thinking it was going to be some cheesy book, Boy was I surprised. This is a good book, mixing criminal investigation and fantasy. Claw and Warder are two investigators of creatures of with magical powers. It has the twist and turns of a good crime book with the added adventure of a good fantasy. Following from crime to investigation to prosecution and sentencing. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to the next in the series.

Mr. Vick kills it, once again

Just like the last episodes, this third installment is witty, well written, and perfectly paced. The story telling is clear and imaginative, and the addition of "new" creatures (well, A new creature, at least) was welcome. Mr. Vick really is a wonderful story teller, one I'm finding I like more and more, the farther I journey with him. I hope he continues with the series, and I can't wait to read the next one!

Better w/ Every Single Episode

Honestly, I went into reading Claw & Warder with a healthy dose of skepticism. To me, it felt very detached from all of the more serious, sinister, and visceral work I'd read from Mr. Vick. But, now that I'm 3 episodes in, I think I'm hooked. The world he's created here is such a wonderful mash-up of all things mythological. Seriously, if you're not reading Erik Henry Vick, or Claw & Warder, you really REALLY should be.

Someone is trying to set up Leery Oriscoe. There's a dead body and the witness describes his wolf to a T. He's taken off the case and it's up to Dru to figure out what is going on. This requires a trip to visit her parents in Hell. Then Leery and Dru are off across the country to talk to an old friend of her father's who seems to be the person pulling the strings.

Loved this one. Read in one sitting! The publishing of this was a mitzvah to the reader by the author. We are in unprecedented times and this book like all its predecessors allowed for true entertainment.

On. To Episode 4

After a short interval in which I put the series aside, I returned to this book and finished it in an almost continual session. It inspired me to catch up with the rest of the series.

Guilty of being fun

This is turning into a really cool series that crosses the Law & Order with the Supernatural, you could almost see this on the TV. It's amusing but not ott and the two main characters are well thought-out and rounded.

I loved this book.

This book, like the others, was so fun to read. The characters are really great and each story is full of danger, suspense, and not a few laughs. I will be getting the rest of this series ASAP.

Balance was off

Enjoyed this chapter, but the plot was a little convoluted and needed more courtroom theatrics. There was more of werewolf Leery, which was fun.

If you were a fan of Law and Order you simply must get into this 'other world' takeoff on that television programme. Extremely well written, with a werewolf, a ghost or two, a 'Princess,' and this book in the series even gives you a trip to the Underworld -- it isn't like what I thought it would be at all!!

The action is rapid as the two main characters seek to resolve mysterious deaths and bring the perpretrator to justice.

I highly recommend this series and can't wait for the next volume to be released!!!
