Sweet medical romance that takes place on the fictional island of Glenmore off the coast of Scotland. Hero, fresh from a stint in Sudan, Africa, has signed up to the be a locum for the summer. Heroine is a nurse and sister to the widowed single dad who is the permanent doctor on the island. There is another nurse who is going to be the love interest for the single dad in the sequel.

The H/h have instant attraction, but the hero is a reserved city guy and heroine has too much pride to fling herself at him. They spend a lot of time together, but the focus is on the medical cases rather than developing them as characters.

The hero has a deep, dark secret And it’s only revealed after the H/h have sex.

Heroine feels betrayed but forgives him within a day since no one else seems too offended by it.
The real charm in this story is the island and all the small town problems/quirks. Don’t bother reading for the romance.

When Ethan Walker arrives on the island of Glenmore to help out for the summer as a GP, he is immediately attracted to Kyla, the sister of the local doctor and a nurse.

Ethan has come to the island with a dual purpose. He has a personal quest and he has decided not to inform anyone about his real reasons for coming to the island. Ethan is distant, independent and brooding. This is in sharp contrast to Kyla, who grew up on the small island and loves the closeness of her family and the island's residents, even when they gossip and interfere and stick their noses in your personal business.

As attracted as Ethan and Kyla are to each other, they also clash. But, Kyla is falling in love with him even though she knows he is only there for the summer and that he is a man with many secrets. But, when she finds out what his real reason is for coming to Glenmore, will she still be able to love him?

This book was written by the British author Sarah Morgan and published in 2007. This is a short read with only 184 pages. I really enjoyed the book. I was very curious about Ethan's secret and when it was revealed, it was a bombshell.

I really enjoy the Harlequin Medical line and hope to work them into my TBR pile more often.

3.5* I was drawn to read the book because the setting is on a remote Scottish island! The story did not disappoint, with the details of island life brought to live vividly.

The book opens with the arrival of locum doc Ethan Walker, who's here to help out at the island medical centre for the summer. The book was fast paced because from the moment Kyla met Ethan's eyes they could feel the electricity zing back and forth! She's the island's only doc's sister and nurse, so they'll be spending lots of time together! And boy did they work together!

Right from the moment Ethan stepped into the clinic, it was one medical drama after another. Now Ethan was a mysterious man; he was quiet, reserved/aloof yet his innate kindness and goodness shone through in the way he treated his patients. There's always the mention of this mystery letter and we know Ethan was not MERELY who he said he was.

This was drawn out right to the end...when he's ready to reveal she did not want to listen...and they got overwhelmed by their physical attraction no matter how hard they fought it.

As always, Kyla found out the truth in the worst way and got angry and felt betrayed. But everyone else took the reveal as great news!

SPOILERS

Ethan was the step brother of Catherine, Logan's wife who died giving birth to their daughter. As Ethan was working in Sudan (hell) he only received Catherine's letter two months before arriving on Glenmore. By then Catherine had died almost a year ago so Ethan had wanted to see the magical Glenmore that changed his stepsister from a selfish and hateful girl into a happy mother-to-be in the letter. And he really wanted to know his little niece because he's never had much of a family life.

The next book is bound to be the story of Logan and nurse Evanna. I never used to dislike this trope, but these days I hate the idea of either hero or heroine having an ex spouse...or dead spouse. Either the spouse would be villified as the faithless villain, or worse deified as the perfect angel that the hero/heroine would love forever! If s/he was willing to move on that made the hero/heroine second best because if the spouse had not died they would be living their HEA right? So it's a tough balance...I'll pass the next book.

The setting of Glenmore really stole my heart. There's just something about Scotland!

Sorry to say I didn't enjoy this much. Glenmore Island of course, is beautiful, scenic and atmospheric. The real pitfall is that of Kyla and Ethan. I don't feel their characters were developed to the extent they could have, and I felt frustrated by Kyla's willfulness and stubborness. Evanna was the voice of reason. Ethan came across as a blank slate, and although we were given part of the reason, he wasn't interesting enough beyond good looks and a somewhat tortured past. I didn't believe the two were in love. And I didn't buy that proposal. It felt inorganic and rushed. But I will go on to read the rest of the series, because Sarah Morgan is capable of so much more and I have enjoyed a lot of her other works to know that I will have a good read.

I love a good doctor's novel. For me this book went to fast from being mad to being in love and marrying. [SPOILER] Ethan goes to Glenmore Island to get to know his niece. His stepsister died during childbirth. He wasn't close to her but was curios. Him meeting Kyla and falling for her wasn't planned. I doubted between giving this book two starts or three stars. The reason I choose three is because of Glenore Island. I loved the Island and the people there. And because of this I'm looking forward to Logan's book.

Kyla lives on Glenmore and loves the island, she is one of the nurses and knows everyone on the island.

Evan is the new Locum doctor and has his secrets, Kyla thinks he comes from London and won't be around for long!!

Evan does have secrets and is not willing to share them with anyone until he is ready. Kayla nows there is an immediate attraction but doesn't trust Evan as he is not forth coming with his past.

Well written an easy going read with a good mix of characters on the island.

I think my favourite genre is going to be summer medical romance... This the 3rd book I read by sarah morgan and it is really entertaining... I love the way everything goes smooth and fast at the same it... It's a slow burn so instead of studying I spent most of my time finishing this book

The title is very misleading. Glenmore is the name of the island, not the man...she wasn't his bride...he proposed at the end of the book. The name of the book could have been better.

This was a very light quick easy read but not nearly as good as her later books. I got the 2nd one in the series together with the this one and will read it next.

Ethan is a very complicated hero. Its not easy to like him. He is dark, brooding and aloof. His emotions are buried deep inside him. All we know about him is that he had a scarred childhood and that he has a secret reason to come to Glenmore Island. SM keeps the mystery till the end.
In contrast, Kyla is cheerful, open and honest. She is full of life and enthusiasm. Opposites attract and the attraction is instantaneous and hot. The romance is intense but it loses its intensity between the medical scenes and the description of the life in a small community where everyone knows everything about everyone.

One of the stories republished in two in one Summer Fling
Read this in a 2 in 1 reprint version but reviewing separately .... following the story of Kyla and Ethan, sadly I found this my least favourite so far of this authors books :( Ethan was too dark and brooding for my liking and to say it was tied up neatly a bit quick is an understatement if I'd realised last night I was only 10 pages from the end I'd have kept going but the story didn't seem anywhere near ending ???
It has had the characters that feature in book 2 of this series through this story so has laid the main foundations of the next story which I hope will be much better

Desondanks vermakelijk.
