Tim's weekly blog, My Life in Books - www.timwarnes.com - is for lovers of kid lit. Part memoir; part commentary; part review by an industry insider. It is intended to give readers confidence and encouragement to share their passion for literacy - creating connections through kids’ books with their loved ones, and inspire a new generation to value reading for pleasure.
Tim's married to illustrator Jane Chapman. He loves comic strips, wearing fancy hats, playing his banjo and of course - reading bedtime stories!
Jesus Loves Me! is a the book form for the song. It is a great easy read for younger students that are trying to learn to read, and could be incorporated in other classrooms, such as music or a Sunday school class for 3-8 years of age. The illustrations in this book are shown with animals and the first page is the parent reading to the child "My First Bible". The book proceeds with singing the song through their day, symbolizing to me that God is with you all day, every day, and with you every step you take.
you have gotta have this for your book shelf. so cute. i think often that when i see illustrations of bears ... they just don't have them quite right. i mean they are great illustrations ...but something bout these bears ... they seems so life like ... love it!! well said. so peaceful. so happy and cheerful. "Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. - Psalm 68:19" (perfect one to pick there!! well done.) as well as there in the bears home "Bear with each other and FORGIVE". i love the bear touches. so so cool!!
Checked out this book while looking for books to share with 1st grade CCD class but I didn't like this at all. Don't really feel like the illustration s go along with the text. I don't think the kids would be able to translate how the bear's day to day things relate to the song type text.
A delightful depiction of the song "Jesus Loves Me." I especially loved the family of bears and the bear who was playing the violin. Very beautiful illustrations.
This book was cute, and I agreed with the message that it sends, but it was really repetitive, and the illustrations didn't really have anything to do with the story. It wasn't even really a story, but a bear saying 'Jesus Loves Me' over and over. I was a little disappointed because I thought that the illustrations would go more with the words and it could have been a much more touching book, but it really wasn't as sweet as I hoped it would be.
"Jesus Loves Me!" by Tim Warnes is really cute...I thoroughly enjoyed reading it to my daughter. Not only does the story reaffirm what is true, that Jesus does love us, it does it in a way that is both very playful and animated. The words are also displayed in a sing-song manner similar to the song that is sang in church congregations so it's very easy to follow-along. I give it 4 stars.
Very cute illustrations to the song (which includes all 3 verses). It was an Easter gift from my mom to my son and it is great for that because the little bear paints eggs with his mama for giving to friends and makes cookies. My son asks for this one to be read/sung over and over.
