One of THE most beautiful books written on God’s heart for His own. 🥹 I highlighted almost every other passage. Timeless, profound truths written in such a practical, heartfelt way. 🩷 It’s an absolute shame this is no longer in print. An excellent companion to the modern Gentle and Lowly. I only wish Roush had included citations at the end.
It’s impossible to select a few favorite quotes, but I’ll attempt! ❤️
“His love does not depend upon our performance of duty, but rests upon the faithful performance of His Son Jesus Christ.”
“God-acceptance is the secret to self-acceptance, and the end of seeking acceptance in the sight of men. We are filled with confidence, our guilt is gone, our conscience purged, our fears cast out; perhaps alone, but never lonely, we are made well by the miracle of His love.”
“There is a time and place where He exhausted all means to demonstrate the great love wherewith He loved you. That place is the cross of Calvary,…”
“When we learn that we do not have to perform to be loved, for the first time we find ourselves wanting to perform for the joy of Him Who loves us. Love is the only debt we owe Him;...He demands nothing, seeks nothing but that you love Him.”
“Jesus is the only friend you will ever have who totally understands you.”
“…no new evidence will ever be introduced into your relationship with God that was not presented at Calvary and silenced forever.”
“We do not love others because Christ is in them, but rather because Christ is in us!”
