Sheena Meyer #3

The Girl Who Captured the Sun

Rate this book
She believed in angels. Soon everyone will.
Is one gleamer enough to confront the Murk head-on in this third installment of the Sheena Meyer series?
In The Girl Who Spoke to the Wind , Sheena fought against thoughts of fear and defeat—mind games used by the Murk to make her lose hope. She and her friends faced Luke Tobias and risked their lives to save Dingy and the missing children. But it’s clear the fight against the Murk has just begun. Sheena sees the Murk everywhere; at her school dance and in her classroom. Only this time, someone else sees it too. If angels are with her, Sheena can't tell. She hasn’t received a text or any form of contact from her angel. It worries her so much that she’s having nightmares and believes she is no longer a gleamer. She turns to the Lumen for answers, the strange book left to her by Mr. Tobias. It’s written in a language only she can decipher and unfolds a destiny she’s not ready to accept. At that back are blank pages that fill as the Murk gets stronger. Sheena fears there’s no hope. Can she figure out what the “Brilliant light” is that the Lumen speaks of in time to save her friends? The Girl Who Captured the Sun is the third book in the Sheena Meyer adventure series. It’s a perfect fit for readers who love fast-moving page-turners with memorable characters.

I feel empty. I need more. I finished this book in a day and now there's no more books.

This one definitely wasn't as scary as the other two. There was a lot more scripture involved, which, as a Christian myself, I loved.

I love how Sheena learned that she isn't alone. That she's always going to have people to be by her side, no matter what her plans are. And the whole ordeal with Chana was very interesting. My heart broke at the end but then got sewed back together a few pages later.

I love how wholesome the characters are.

I would have one complaint if this book were romance. But since it's not, I don't mind. It's just that there plenty of hints throughout this series. And it would've been interesting to see if the author did something to foreshadow some future romance among certain characters. I'm just dying to know. Cause it's pretty obvious that there were some hidden feelings.

But anyways, guess we'll never know. It's a really good series, in case I haven't made that clear.

The Sheena Meyers series is an exciting read, with good characterization, and plenty of plot twists! The battle between good and evil is in the forefront, as well as deep friendships, and the need for hope and faith. Thirteen year old Sheena discovers she is from a long line of "Gleamers"-people who have the ability to see the unseen realm of angels and the dark forces (the "Murk") that they stand against. It becomes her battle as well. The trilogy tells the whole story with a satisfying conclusion. The individual books leave too much of a cliffhanger to stand well on their own.

It is one of the best. A lot of secrets about Ariel were revealed in this volume, which I loved. It was also good that Ariel healed Theodore. It's so sad that Murke used Teddy to hurt Sheena. Teddy always tries to take care of Sheena. I'm glad my favorite character is back thanks to Ariel.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I think that this book shows how much Teddy and Sheena care about each other and how strong their friendship is. I think this book showed so much of Sheena's gleamer powers and let her know she's never alone even when she feel like it. Read this book numerous of times and never felt bored, Even when I knew what was coming, I still gasped as if I didn't. This book is definitely one of my favorites from the Sheena Meyer series!

Also, I love the part where Teddy and Sheena were at Dingy's house and Drake appeared and how Teddy helped her through it. I love it so much! This is one of my favorite parts!

Teddy: Be strong and of good courage. Do not be feared nor be dismayed.

Sheena:I turned and looked at Teddy, taking m focus from the Murk to my friend. Determined and unafraid. The Teddy I used to know, with his nose beginning to run and snowflakes melting on his head as soon as they landed.

Teddy: Turn back, Sheena.

Sheena: Teddy, that scripture you spoke-

Teddy: Mr.Tobias said it would remind you of who you are

Sheena: Are you going to tell me everything Mr.Tobias told you?

Teddy: You'll find out as it's needed

Sheena: I punched him. "Punk"

Teddy: See that's why I don't tell you anything. But I will tell you this. You're too focused on the Murk and their power. Stop looking at who they are and look at who you are. Mr.Tobias said you're going to save us.

Sheena: He did?

Teddy: Why do you think you're always fighting for a cause? Paper straws at school, free lunches, the clothing donation closet, and about twenty other things. It's inbred in you to fight for others. Why are you looking at me like that?

Sheena: It's just good to have my friend back

Love that whole scene!

How does this book relate to your Hero’s Journey? I think this is related to my hero’s journey because the girl did never give up and she actually completed her dream of doing something no one can forget and it was capturing the sun well not taking it away from everyone but she grabbed a piece it doesn't explain how but was really cool.
How did this book change you as a reader? It changed me as a reader because there is a saga of this book and it makes me want to know what she does next so it makes me want to read more.
Who would you recommend it to and why? I will recommend to people that need a bit of optimistic things in their life to know everything is possible.

This series is so good! I love the idea of angles being there we just can't see them. I also like the message that your friends are there for you no matter what. This book was a quick read but a really good one. I have only read the first three and can't wait till I read the others in the series. The author uses such good word choice it brings out the characters really well. At some times I felt like I was really there. this book was awesome and I would definitely recommend it.

This book was magnificent! I loved how the author kept adding on to the story building depth to each character! I did notice how one of the characters were acting weird and not themselves and knew what was up! The ending was amazing but I have a feeling this won't be the end of this series! - E.K

I again, loved this book, but it kinda felt like the author keeps making the characters fight the monster, it dies, then comes back. It's a little repetitive throughout the series, but I still enjoyed it.

Not Up ti Standard

This book was full of holes and had poorly described scenes. We never learn how Chana was kidnapped, who tried to kill her mom, what was on the picture or why when they stopped in the middle of nowhere, and the entire fight scene sucked. Just skip this one!

I like the messages that the author was putting into this whole series, but it's just not my favorite series ever. Not my least favorite though. I still enjoyed it.
