Jacqui Shepherd, children's author, was born in Zimbabwe, started her schooling years in England and now resides in South Africa. As a child her favourite books were Winnie the Pooh and Dr. Seuss. She is a big Roald Dahl fan. Jacqui first began creating stories to amuse her four children. Although Jacqui's children are now grown up and making their own way in the world, they remain her inspiration. Jacqui inherited her storytelling talent from her father, Lancelot Steven Shepherd, and in loving memory of him she publishes all her work under her maiden name. Although all of Jacqui's stories are entertaining, some of them have the the added benefit of important lessons, which equip children with values and attitudes that help them in their daily lives. Jacqui believes it is important to read to a child and to teach a child to love reading. She is in full agreement with the famous Dr. Seuss quote, "You are never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."

Lovely story for children to really believe in their imagination and let it flow. Enjoyed the short read about letting the children really experience all that they can feel and read through the book.

You may think that a book without pictures would be boring, this book is anything but!
This book takes the reader and listener on a wonderful journey that can be different each time.
In today’s digital world, children and adults alike are being deprived and drained of their individual sense of creativity, and it is crucial for us to refresh and reignite these skills/gifts. I personally know many adults that only read magazines i.e. books with pictures!! Hopefully this type of book will enhance children’s imagination and creativity from an early age in turn encourage a love of reading.
I truly hope that Ms. Shepherd delivers more of these delightful adventures. Anything is possible with your Superpower Imagination.
P.S. yes, it made my daughter and I smile!

A positive & imaginative book for children ..

I found myself really following the guideline in the book for furthering my ‘superpower’, loads of fun!! Children can draw out their imagination and do a ‘show and tell’ with other children at school - it’s definitely a good teaching aid for school teachers. Love it!

This is a good book to help children to create a new world of their own by using imagination and new words they can use in real life. The story can go in any direction because it all is in the imagination. Children love making up their own stories. Well done, love it.

Great way to encourage readers to visualize what they read.

This book uses a novel way of encouraging readers to use their imagination. Too often we forget how to do this as adults. A must read book.

Imagine that! – A picture book without pictures

If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words would an author need to write an entire picture book without any pictures?

Not all that many, it turns out, if our author is Jacqui Shepherd who masterfully restricts her words to guide readers on their own imaginative journey.

In this unique and amazingly creative book, mental images (not words!) still do most of the heavy lifting, but these mental images are provided by the young readers themselves, harnessing a potent “superpower” we all possess, our boundless human imagination!

With such an original premise to guide her, how can our author go wrong? Indeed, she cannot!

Jacqui Shepherd has written an instant classic to which children, parents, and teachers will return again and again. Most highly recommended!

A fun book and probably a very good one for Covid times. This is a children's book, but it doesn't have any illustrations. Instead, the author creates a scene and the reader is encouraged to visualize the scene using their own imagination. Everyone's imagination will create a a different scene, and that's the fun of it. I think it's a great exercise for young kids, and even adults. The book can be used as a template, and then parents can create other scenes and ask kids to draw the scene from their own imagination. Very clever.

An enhansing and a relaxing book

I was first curious about the title, I thought this is full of images,
and it's true, you will find pictures and images through your imagination. The author is good in expressing the right words that help you stir and relax the mind and meditate it.
I became like a little kid that went to adventure. It's well written and this is not only for kids but for everyone. Well done!

A great book for emerging readers

This is a great book to start kids on if they are making their way to reading without pictures. It also has a little bit of a guided meditation aspect to it. Children can imagine themselves going on a journey. This is essentially what reading is. Young readers can develop that muscle by reading this adventure. The book guides the reader’s imagination, which makes this book a great first pictureless book for kids.

Great concept and fun read

This book takes you on a journey through your own imagination using lots of different prompts and guides you to experience and see different things in your mind. I like the playful fonts used for the text which makes it fun to read. For a book like this, you really don't need any pictures and it shows readers how powerful your own imagination can be. It's a great exercise in practicing mindfulness too.

Great book for a classroom!

This book really helps kids use their imagination to the fullest. It guides them, but still leaves lots of room to make their story their own! I think it would be very fun for a classroom activity!

This is a fun and creative book. I never really thought of people not being able to use their imaginations but they are people who don’t. This is a great tool for people that don’t. Great for children and adults!
