Canyon Springs #2

Hunter's Mate

Rate this book
The small town of Canyon Springs, Colorado, is filled with warm, welcoming people and breathtaking views. Is that why visitors often decide to stay for the rest of their lives? Or is it something else?

Layla doesn’t believe any of the nonsense her grandmother filled her head with growing up. There’s no way shifters have the ability to entice humans into their world through some sort of coercion. The woman was simply prejudice. The concept is nonsense.

So, Layla isn’t concerned about making the trip to Canyon Springs to settle her estranged aunt’s estate. In fact, she’s hoping to meet her first shifter and find out if they really are larger, sexier, and more tempting. The truth is that Layla is a starving actress, and she needs a change.

She’s not, however, prepared to meet Hunter and put all her beliefs to the test. He’s everything she hoped for and then some. It would seem he’s also doing exactly what her grandmother warned her about—luring her into his lair. Her libido is on overdrive. Her heart is in danger.

Another can’t-miss, MUST-READ paranormal romance.
Stellar and STEAMY, HUNTER’S MATE, is the second novella by author Becca Jameson returns readers to an alternative present-day in Canyon Springs, Colorado. This Canyon Spring series takes place in a human/paranormal community where humans and shifters live in harmony. Some of the humans are mates of bear or wolf shifters, while others are born of a mixed marriage where a human and a shifter found the perfect mate in each other. It also gives readers another opportunity to experience the enticing narrative that books by author Becca Jameson readily display and the “slow-burn” heat of a mating couple who intellectually understand their call to mate, but become befuddled by the surging emotions and driving need that the call to mate elicits. While HUNTER’S MATE tells the other half of the story of Elena’s and Layla’s trip to clean out and sell the home of a great-aunt they never met, it focuses on Layla and Hunter. More importantly, it is a completely different story and in my humble opinion is even better than its predecessor. If you’ve never read anything written by author Becca Jameson, then start with HUNTER’S MATE! It is twisty, emotional, and delivers an “OH so STEAMY” sensual build-up that makes it impossible to put down! With one warning, however. Reading HUNTER’S MATE may make its readers fans of Becca Jameson’s paranormal tales for life. Additionally, reading HUNTER’S MATE will most likely hook them into a series that promises to leave all readers SATISFIED, with their need for ROMANCE fulfilled. I jumped at the opportunity to voluntarily read HUNTER’S MATE, and this is my honest and voluntary 5+STAR review despite its novella length. Get your copy of HUNTER’S MATE today! Happy pages! 😉

Hunter’s Mate continues is a book that goes down easy, like earlier books in this series. When fated couples meet in the town of Canyon Springs, they know it instantly. But for Hunter, a wolf shifter, his situation is complicated. For one thing, his fated mate is a human, Layla, so she knows nothing about the shifter world and how fated mates work. For another thing, he’s privy to a secret about her that could be decimating when he has to reveal it.

Hunter and Layla are both really likable people. Hunter is desperately concerned about doing the right thing when it comes to Layla, but dealing with the overwhelming physical pull between fated mates makes that hard to decide what to reveal when. Layla arrives in Canyon Springs when she’s at a crossroads, giving up her nonstarting career as an actress but not yet sure what she wants from life. It seems strange to her that her life path would be decided for her by a mate—and she’s not sure she likes that at all. Both Hunter and Layla are smart, and there are no “too stupid to live” decisions in Hunter’s Mate. It’s a comfort read, a snuggly blanket of a book that you can curl up with.

I hope Jameson produces more books in this series—or at least a novella about Anders. This is a town and a setup that would be a joy to explore further.

The second chapter of this simply wonderful series by this wonderful author
The small town of Canyon Springs have been undergoing quite a few changes since the twin’s granddaughters of Marge a much loves and dearly missed resident of the small shifter community. Both girls had been raised by their grandmother and had not even known that their grandmothers sister had lived so close and that like them had been an identical twin, however after Marge had met and fallen in love with her mate a shifter in Canyon falls Mabel had cut her out of her life.
Both girls Layla and her sister Elena had been raised knowing their grandmother had very particular views where shifters were concerned and had tried to corrupt them with the falsehoods however both girls had supported each other and chose to judge everyone on their own merit. So, when Layla had met Hunter on their first day in Canyon Springs, she had been struck by the attraction she had felt for the man, who had very honestly explained he was a wolf shifter and that he was her fated mate.
As they start to spend time in the town and learn all about their aunt and how much she had been loved and respected by the people that lived there they quickly realise that they have actually found there home, also they have discovered the man that was a major part of their story and who had not been aware they existed either.
This is another wonderful book by this author that is always capable of writing a book where the characters are totally down to earth, the plot is always well written and there is always a wealth of surprises.
This story definitely had all this and then some….
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Like Caleb's Mate, Hunter's Mate is a softer romance without a lot of high drama, suspense or fast paced action. It is, in essence, a love story between two people fated to be together. We like to say "they were meant to be together." There is a bit of irony in that one women's prejudices affected a family for three generations.

Hunter knew, even before he saw Layla, the she was his mate. In that instant his life changed and with that change came responsibilities that he takes seriously. Before coming to Canyon Springs, Layla knew it was time to make some changes in her life and that started with leaving L.A. Little did she know she was about to feel she'd just fallen down a rabbit hole. Wrapping her mind around everything she's learned in a couple of days is daunting. At the center of it all it this gorgeous hunk of a man who's declared that she's the only one for him. Underneath it all she knows that's true for her too.

HOOKED! This book had me hooked. It is the second in the Canyon Springs series and written side by side with the first, Caleb's Mate. Layla and her twin have come to Canyon Springs to settle the estate of a Great Aunt they have never met, their Grandmother's twin sister. We learned about their grandmother's dislike of shifters in book 1. The sisters seek to learn about their aunt and themselves. Oh they also meet two shifter hunks that sweep them off their feet. Is there some truth to the tales their grandmother has told them through the years?
Hunter knows Layla is his mate before he even learns her name. Now he just has to convince her to stay in Canyon Springs. There is not a ton of drama in this book, nor danger. It is just a good sweet but steamy love story. It also clears up some lingering questions from book 1. I hope there will be more in this series!

Layla graduated college with a Theater degree and went to California the sad reality is many other staving actors and actresses are striving for the same goal. Layla has had a few successes but not enough to pay the rent and eat without waiting tables. She misses her twin sister Elena, they haven’t kept up with each other lately and is really looking forward to seeing her again. Their grandmother’s twin sister Marge passed away and not long after their grandmother had passed away. Their Grandmother Mabel held a grudge for over 50 years with her sister Marge for going to Canyon Springs and falling in love and marrying a shifter.
Layla is meeting her sister in Canyon Springs, Colorado because their great Aunt Marge left them her house when she passed. This is the VERY BASIC beginning to a wonderfully suspenseful romantic story that I just loved.

This is Layla and Hunter's story, it intertwines with the story told in 'Caleb' but adding more details and a different point of view. From the initial meeting in the only bar in town, to the meeting in the lawyer's office, the one that Caleb and Hunter share the reaction is basically the same. Shock and anger from Layla and Elena and devastation from Caleb and Hunter.

I really love the groveling Hunter does and the not quite meeting up with Caleb and Elena. There is much for Hunter to tell Layla but he'd rather do it on his home turf. Including doing the shift she wants to see.

Fun and romantic with lots of twists and turns, secrets revealed, sizzling heat and so much more! I can't wait to see what Becca has in store for us in this series.

After reading “Caleb’s Mate,” the first book in the Canyon Springs series I could not wait to read the second book “Hunter’s Mate.” This is Hunter’s and Layla’s story. After reading the first book the second is there point of view of finding each other. But the passion between these two let’s just say HOT, such a steamy read. This was such a funny romantic read but let’s not forget the surprises in this book. To find out what I am talking about I believe as a reader you should find out. I really enjoyed reading this book and I just adore reading Becca Jameson’s books. She’s an amazing author.

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.

Hunter's Mate by Becca Jameson is book Two in the Canyon Springs Series. This is the story of Layla and Hunter. I have read the previous book, which did add to my enjoyment of this one. But, you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Hunter is a wolf shifter who along with his best friend have been waiting for their mate. When Layla and her twin sister come to town, Hunter knows that Layla is his. Layla is in town to help her sister settle a house that was left to them by a family member. Of course when Layla meets Hunter she is immediately attracted to him. This was a quick hot read.

Love this continuation of the twins and their journey to Canyon Springs, CO. Layla and her sister were raised by their grandmother, who filled their heads with her dislike of shifters. When their aunt dies, they inherit her house. Traveling to CO is a way for each to get away and re-evaluate their chosen professions.

Layla likes to jog and when she passes a hunk of a man, Hunter, while running, she wants to see what this town has to offer. The girls are still skeptical because of their grandmother’s bias, but are looking for adventure. They find it in more ways than one.

Hunter’s Mate is the second book in Becca Jameson’s new Canyon Springs series. The moment Layla and Hunter see each other well jogging there is an immediate attraction. Hunter knows that is his fated mate. Now he just needs to get Layla to believe it too. This book is the twin story of Caleb’s Mate the first book of the series focusing on Layla and Hunter’s love journey with a few extra story curves.

Ms. Jameson is one of my favorite writers. I had not read many of her shifter novels. Her "Mates" series is easy to read, fun romance! I read Caleb's Mate previous to this one, and it's cool to go through the same timeline, but with the twin! Great dialogue.

Fun to watch Hunter whittle away Layla's defenses! A revelation. I had wondered!

I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I was a little worried that this would be a bit of a retelling of the first book and not have much of a mystery since they take place at the same time, and my assumption was that the big reveal would likely be the same as the big reveal in Caleb’s Mate, but I was pleasantly surprised! Not only is this truly Layla and Hunters story it has a big bombshell of its own! Also a great epilogue for both of the sisters stories! Highly recommended!

We met Hunter and Layla in Caleb’s Mate. This is their story. Layla is a struggling actress who goes to Colorado Springs to settle her great aunts estate. Family secrets and a hot wolf shifter definitely keep her mind off her career woes. This is a sassy, sweet and smexy romp that will have you wanting to Gibbs smack a few old ladies and break out a fan or two.

Heartwarming

These 2 books warmed my heart. Sure, there are some sad bits, but the rest outshines them. I love how the importance of family (chosen and birth) is highlighted throughout the story. I am also pleased that the author has shown how much pain and heartache can stem from prejudices.

Although this is book 2 in the series, the events take place at the same time, just from a different perspective, as book 1. I'm not sure I really liked Layla all that much but I enjoyed the interaction between Layla and Hunter. I loved the twist in the story and hopefully future books will continue to entertain
