THE WORST IS BACK! Wolverine has never been one to back down from a fight — not even a combined assault from Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth and Doctor Cornelius — but the Flower Cartel might have enlisted his worst and greatest Logan himself.
Benjamin Percy is the author of seven novels -- most recently The Sky Vault (William Morrow) -- three short fiction collections, and a book of essays, Thrill Me, that is widely taught in creative writing classrooms. He writes Wolverine, X-Force, and Ghost Rider for Marvel Comics. His honors include an NEA fellowship, the Whiting Writer's Award, the Plimpton Prize, two Pushcart Prizes, the iHeart Radio Award for Best Scripted Podcast, and inclusion in Best American Short Stories and Best American Comics.
"the true friends you make are like an apology for all the shit life gives you for free." Nothing big is happening yet in this title. Still the pale girl storyline. Still she seems to have the upper hand, unless wolverine and the CIA guy are faking it. She also did a successful operation on the marauder but seemingly no one was hurt bad.
Was gonna low rate this one and be ok with it, because it started off as such, great artwork and the story continues with that CIA(?) Agent and the you-know-who who's been killing people/mutants left and right, (don't remember if we got introduced to the one responsible for all this in this issue or the previous one, #1 was big so I forgot, oh well).
So, halfway through got interesting and the end was really surprising!
Really wanna see what happens next, and honestly I'm glad this story takes you out of the billion Krakoa stories that's currently all over the X-Titles (which are mostly great, but it's a good break) and we get to have some nice little mystery, and also kinda creepy too. So, I liked it!
PS. Wolverine (Percy) mentioned Johnny Cash in it? +1 Respect in my book.
Whoa. The creepiness has truly escalated in this issue. If you didn't take the threat of The Pale Girl seriously in issue #1, you probably will after this one.
Parental Advisory indeed.
The artwork is beautifully done and effective. I especially love how the story started with a creepy dream sequence with the Marauders at sea, and ended with Logan and Bannister on a boat in a heavy storm. Do not love how it ended though…
P.S. How many times must Jean die and be reborn again? P.P.S. Scott Summers has no chill in every X-Men line.
At first this issue wasn't doing it for me, but then half way through it clicked, and I re-read it right away, and I loved it.
The who done it is here, the vicious murders, the mystery, and the suspense all line up well here. With Sinister and the "pale face" and drug plots all coming to a head we have Wolverine in a bind. This is well done, interesting, and fun. Give me more!
That ending was very dark! I surprised me and caught me off guard and I like it! I like the art, original style, the story was a bit slow but the ending get it right. Interesting series!
I'm honestly not sure what's going on, but I'm gonna keep reading (obviously...I'm reading all the X-books for the foreseeable future) and hopefully we'll find out, eh?
Nicely done. The Pale Lady is creepy & the panel of Zombie Kate was cool as hell! This does seem to be a drastic shift in storyline though. I thought we were doing a vampire story. The switch is a little jarring. Maybe it will all come together. Cyclops's anger about Jean dying to dumb. She's getting resurrected, everyone knows it. Wolverine was hallucinating, everyone knows it. Death has no consequences for mutants now. Chill out Scott it isn't that deep.
