Heartbreak and Other Things I Hate is the fourth book in a series of comedic contemporary F/F romance novellas. If you like eccentric characters, fast-paced and razor-sharp wit, then you’ll love the fourth book in Elizabeth McGivern’s ‘Things I Hate’ series
After loving part 1 and 2, I can’t help but wonder what has gone wrong after. Part 3 was ok, as is this part 4. This one is actually a bit better than 3.
I am happy to see it didn’t go the way I thought it would after the second instalment, but the reason why the first two books worked so well for me is gone. The magic is no longer there. The sheer ridiculousness of the first two books is just gone, and that is what worked well and made it so fun to read.
This fourth instalment is better than the third, but I’m missing some of the chemistry and magic. It returns in a more subdued way about half way through, which gives me hope for the fifth instalment.
