Despite being total opposites, and getting off to a bad start right from the first meeting, Noah and Dalton still cannot shrug off the pull they feel towards each other. It takes several meetings before they actually get on even somewhat the same page. Once they do, there’s no turning back..even if it could cost them more than they're willing to pay.
This book drew me in, emotionally, from the beginning. Having to witness the town meeting, and the ugliness that is Violet Mulgrew. Small towns always have at least a few small minded people, and she’s their number one. To add insult to injury, she owns so msny buildings in the town that she actually thinks she owns it. I really want to see her comeuppance. Ugh.
Even though this is book two in the series, it can stand alone. As good as this one is, reading the first book would definitely be equally enjoyable. I gathered that Liam and Mason, the only established couple in the book, met in book one, though.
Noah is a little spitfire and Dalton definitely grew on me. I liked them as a couple, and was rooting for them the whole time. Life was not easy for either of them, growing up, despite one growing up wealthy, and the other growing up practically homeless. Despite that, they showed each other support and respect. Hopefully that’s enough to survive the many obstacles in their path.
I enjoyed this book. The writing was good, it was a slow burn, but not in a painful way. It happened organically in the story, and I was more than okay with that. The characters, from minor, to side characters, to the main characters, were all enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this book.
