Rate this book
“I want to marry you because I know we will never last”

Not quite the wedding proposal a gal wants to hear but times are hard.
Elissa Dane’s catering business is about to go belly up,
unless she finds an in flux of cash and A business plan to save it

Mr. I’ve got money, looks and can have any woman I want, aka Liam Butler,
has discovered that he’s a money magnet for gold diggers who aren’t interested in his heart
unless it’s the key to his bank account. While the wild billionaire might look good in the press
its causing his board members to wonder if Liam's the one to run Butler Hotels, a multi-billionaire dollar company.

So came the proposal, Elissa would help him look all stable and dignified
by marrying him for a short period. Then when the board had finished their evaluation,
Liam and Elissa would divorce and he’d help her setup by working in one of his five star hotels.
That is how it all came about that Elissa was married to the man who dumped her in college
and never looked back.

Nothing ever goes as planned and a fake romance starts to feel like the real deal.
Could it be that instead of Finding Ms. Wrong, Liam had found Ms. Right?

Susan Warner was born in New Bern, North Carolina. These days she lives in the melting pot of the United States, New York. She writes about sweet small-town romance as a way to remember her roots. She has been blessed with four grown children and a man who cares about her enough to understand when the voices start-up in her head, it’s time for her to go to work.
She originally started telling stories to her kids to benefit from learning about country values even though they weren’t raised there. As time went on, she found others who wanted to hear her stories. Stories that believe in the goodness of people, the sanctity of love, and understand that forgiveness and compassion make us better human beings.
When Susan isn’t writing, she reads voraciously, volunteers to help the homeless and animals when she can, and is eternally trying to get the gauge right in her knitting.

Rough

There was little consistency in the book, it read like I wrote it in 8th grade (note my stories were convoluted and not flashed out). There were poor editing choices and editing note left in the published version. Loved the premise, so happy it was in KU so I only wasted time not $

Elissa Dane and Liam Butler had a history. The two of them had dated in college and he, of course, broke her heart. Thanks to Liam’s grandmother who can’t stop matchmaking him to women he doesn’t like, he now has a reputation as a womanizer with peculiar choices in women. So he figures he will get a fake marriage in place so that she thinks he is no longer available and stops matchmaking for him! It will also give him the appearance of stability he needs to show the Board he can handle the CEO position he took over since his grandfather passed away a year ago. Of course the new wife will have to be willing to divorce him once he no longer needs the fake marriage!

Elissa is struggling with her catering business. She really doesn’t want to fail. And as if Fate heard her, Liam Butler approaches her with an offer for a fake marriage! Risking her heart again is not something she really wants to do. But her business is important and she wants to save it at all costs. In return for her marrying Liam, they will give her the opportunity to cater the hotel grand opening; excellent reviews; and she will be paid generously for the event to cover any shortages Green Magic may be having for the next two years. This would solve her problem! Can they convince everyone the marriage is “real”? Can they convince themselves it isn’t? And could she walk away when he says it’s over?

This story is really good with lots of fun dialog and interaction among the characters. The pacing works perfectly and keeps the reader fully engaged. Grab your copy and see if these two can pull it off successfully! You’ll probably be laughing all the way!

Delicious Romantic Comedy

I always enjoy it when a romantic comedy is actually humorous—they aren’t always—and this one is. The fun starts literally in the first scene when our hero, clad only in pink flip-flops and a towel, ends up in the alleyway of his hotel trying to convince a homeless woman to go talk to the doorman on his behalf. That scene and his subsequent talk with his best friend are highly amusing. This is one of those billionaire, second-chance, fake-marriage stories, catching a lot of sub-genres within contemporary romance. Even if aspects of it seem implausible, the journey is a fun one. The hero and the heroine have a history; he didn't treat her very well (naturally!), so he figures that she is perfect fake wife material as he doesn't want a true romance or marriage to come out of the deal; he wants a clean divorce at the end. He wants to get his disastrously matchmaking grandmother (the reason for the first scene) off his back as well as prove his stability to the company’s board. She is in need of some cash to keep her organic catering business going. I did think a few things were odd with her and the catering business that she supposedly cared so much about. She didn't seem to have good business sense or even culinary sense at times, which seems odd for a caterer—even one who espouses organic and green; she did and said things no good caterer should. But everything besides this minor annoyance was fine. I found this to be a delightfully fun and actually funny romantic comedy.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Fairly typical marriage of convenience novel

This book was just kind of ehhh. The story was relatively interesting if not typical, hotshot CEO needs to find a wife to cull his rakish ways so the board won't fire him. The spin on this one is instead of picking up a random person off the street (which he did just not as a wife) he picks an old flame. With a contract for money, because why else would you accept a billionaires proposal for a temporary marriage without money if you're not a money grubbing gold digger, the two love interests marry and show the world that they are a happy couple. Again, not a bad story, I read many marriage of convenience novels, the primary problem here was the writing. It all felt very basic. There were many many things that could have been expanded on to make the story more interesting and fulfilling for the reader. Some things NEEDED to be expanded on in order to understand the story more, such as the whole explanation at the end about why she hated him to begin with. I never got a fulfilling answer. My recommendation for the author for future writings: do a step by step schedule/explanation for each event and character to better fill in the gaps that were not getting and then decide what is really needed for the story. I think that this will help the writing flow smoother and make it more interesting for the reader. Not bad writing or storytelling, it just needs some improvement! Overall though, 2 out of 5 stars.

This was an enjoyable read, with great characters and gave you some good laughs as well as left you scratching your head at a couple of things, Elissa is determined to get her organic catering business going especially after borrowing money from her Aunt and happens to have an interview at the same hotel her old school crush happens to own now. I did scratch my head a bit about how Liam and Travers just decide turning up on Elissa's door step after so many years and asking her to marry Liam is a great idea, as well as how Elissa who runs a catering business that absolutely needs to succeed but seems to think its ok to plate up a fish dish that looks ugly and when its pointed out she advises "who cares? I'll put some garnish on it later. It's healthy". This book also has a slight serial feel to it as there were quiet a few things about Elissa and Liam we don't get the answer to at the end of the book and need to read the next to find out, which I don't mind but it's always good to be given the heads up. This was a good book and I do look forward to reading the next in the series especially as it's about the barracudas aka Elissa's best friend and attorney Colleen and Travers COO of Butlers hotels and also Liams best friend.

Small Town Romance

I did enjoy the blurb for this book but the story fell flat at times.
Elissa knew Liam at college and they were both from the same small town where his grandmother still lives.
At the beginning of this book Elissa mentions that Liam only asked her to a dance as a bet and broke her heart.
Liam has become a billionaire player who is CEO of his grandparents hotel business but the board and his grandmother are concerned he doesn’t seem to want to settle down.
When he comes to ask Elissa to marry him and he will help her failing business she never mentions the bet and how he hurt her, she then asks him his age early on and I thought hang on weren’t they in college together so she would know his age.
Then they spend very little time together before the end of the book and it all seems so rushed, at the end of the book it says if you want to know who is after Liam then read Travers & Colleen book…. Why just cover it in Liam’s book so we know their story is done and move on to another couple.
It just felt like a rushed story and very little content, I mean by the end of the book the couple had only kissed ???
Who does that in a romantic book, sorry but I won’t be moving on to any of the other books.

Elissa started her catering business 2 years ago. It hasn't gotten off the ground yet. She borrowed the money from her aunt. She's afraid her aunt will have to return to work if business doesn't pick up. Liam is the CEO of Butler Hotels. He is a billionaire. He and Elissa dated in college, but broke up. She has applied to be the caterer for the new hotel he is opening. He comes up with the proposition of them marrying. It will help his reputation with the board and he'll provide what she needs to repay her aunt. Liam lives in NYC, but his grandmother and Elissa live in Chusada, FL. He travels to FL to ask Elissa to marry him. She is mad. She loved him in college and he only dated her as a bet. As they navigate the waters of small town and her aunt and his grandmother and the town gossips, they find that they still have feelings for each other. Really sweet book.

Ms. Warner is truly a talented writer. Her sweet romantic stories always leave me with a warm, fuzzy feeling. I am never disappointed when I pick up one of her books. Elissa and Liam have a history, a not so pleasant one. Years later, fate brings them together and Liam approaches her with an offer of marriage- a fake one. Liam needs this to get his grandmother to believe he is no longer available so she will stop her matchmaking. Elissa needs this for the money to save her catering business. A match made in heaven? Maybe... they just don't realize it yet! This was an absolutely adorable story which certainly have you coming back for more. Highly recommended!

To me it started a little strange ( but who wouldn't think a man in a pink robe and flip flops and little strange) but I would read more and couldn't stop. Elissa needs help with her restaurant and Liam needs a wife for a few month. But the two of them together is wonderful , they both have their own little ways of doing things and finding out that they are not always the right way. Come read about little town gossip, how and why things are done, and how it can bring two people together. There are some twists and turns that will surprise you and keep you reading because you have to know MORE. You'll enjoy your time in Chusada, I know I did

I liked this book a lot even though the whole fake marriage trope is being used by so many authors lately. Liam and Elissa were both very likable and they both needed a quick fix to their individual business difficulties. Would a fake marriage really be the best solution and what happens when it is time for everything to end between them? Will they be able to walk away without looking back or is this more of a long-term lifetime solution?

A story about Walking back into love

A marriage of convenience between 2 past lovers. Time finds a way of As growing up into what we could be. Other times circumstances make it hard for us to become what we want and should be. This is a story is about that. The characters were simple but in some ways complicated the author did a good way job of Making them some what label. The story line is simple, past lovers come back together. The trust issues that was brought throughout the story was interesting because So many of us in real life have the same issues.

Oh wow. This was an incredible beginning to a new series. Some serious gold moments in this romcom. I’ve read a bunch of books by this author before, but this one tops the charts. There was a bit of a cliffhanger ending. I loved the characters and their second chance, the fake relationship, the small town gossip and community? And the importance of family. I can’t wait for book 2!

This book has potential, but needs some work. It was kinda of all over the place. Hits on some things, then skips to something else, then comes back around with no rhyme or reason. I was more interested in Aunt Becky and Gran than Liam and Elissa. Their story was just not believable. The concept was good, but the execution just wasn't up to par.

Matchmaking has ruined his reputation.
Life has complicated her dreams.
But maybe a fake romance will become the dreamiest match ever.

An enjoyable read with some good laugh out loud moments. The characters are fun and entertaining and the story line pulls you in. Romance in a small town and the small town gossip that comes with it definitely gives some good laughs.

An amusing second chance story.
Liam and Elissa had a relationship in the past so she wasn’t impressed when, he turns up at her door after yet another scandal involving him, and proposes they get married.
She is in need of money, which he has plenty of, and he needs a a wife and she is single and familiar, so they decide to give it a go. But will she pass the grandmother interview and the reaction from the small town she lives in.
A sweet story of finding love for a second time.

Ehh

So the plot of the story sounded really good but the writing was meh plus this is obviously the unedited edition of the book because there were notes to make sure to add in another scene here. The ending felt completely rushed but the worst part is I do want to know what happens. I just can't decide if I want to waste another couple hours of my time to go to the next book or not.

Sweet romance story

Liam needs a wife and returns to his home town, to make a bargain with an old friend. Who mocked him in college.
Elissa needs to get the contract for the catering job at the Hotel. Which is one of a chain that Liam has. The same Liam that hurt her in college.
Read how they handle or almost don't handle their past future, and every day living in a small town of friends and not so friendly people.
Very enjoyable short story.

The beginning of an enjoyable series

Melissa and Liam were in love in college but a few misunderstandings got in the way. Liam is the guy from a small town who became a hotel billionaire. Ellisa is from the same town, but Liam never returned. His grandmother still has quite the sway with Liam and has been inundating him with potential wives, which the media doesn't know but is using a lot of ink in those rags. Get ready to follow the ins and outs of public opinion!

I always enjoy stories by Susan Warner. They contain humor, interesting characters, compelling story lines and a bit of conflict. I will say that Aunt Becky and Grandmother Larissa are two of the most “interesting” characters I’ve met in a while. I would have given this book 5 stars but there were just too many grammatical errors in the copy I have to do that.

I enjoyed every turn of the page within this book. Second chance to get it right or is it wrong. When Liam asked Elissa to be in a fake relationship what could wrong since she doesn’t even like him right? The characters are amazing and the storyline flows smoothly.

When his grandmother who plays matchmaker way to much that it ends up causing more harm than good, what is Liam to do? Of course ask some you have a history with, oh and you broke her heart.

A cute, sweet, quick read about second chance love. It was a good book but I felt that too much was left untold. And not about the ending, about bits and parts that happened within the story or beforehand. It was a good story and had many swoony opportunities. I'm hoping reading book 2, about the side character's will answer some of those questions, beyond the ending ones.

Nothing new and poorly written

Not much redeeming value. The plot has been done and done again. The writing is confusing due in equal parts to truly atrocious grammar and an inability to string thoughts together coherently. It takes a truly bad book for me to abandon it without finishing. This one didn't make it to the halfway point.

Great story but short

I love the story between the two characters, but the book felt short. I was kind of wanting to see what happened with Liam’s issue with the board, and Elissa’s problem back in the hometown (I wanted to see a certain someone’s ass kicked).

Otherwise, great read!

I really struggled with the flow of this book. The chapters seemed to just start and stop at different points of time and the breaks in the chapter seemed to flip from one emotion to another. It made it hard for me to connect with the story.
The idea of the story seemed fun, it just needed a little more polish for me.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved the hero Liam and his chemistry with Elissa. There are some truly hilarious moments. This is a sweet romance with only a few kisses. Even though it was a quick read, it has a lot of depth to it. The characters are well developed and the pace moves quickly. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
