I never thought of how important concentration is, I thought,”I’d just like to be able to concentrate on my book while the wife has the TV on or my bird gets loud. But this helped me see there are so many things not possible without the ability. Thank you!
When I first started reading this book, I did not have much idea about what to expect. But as I kept reading the tangible, logical, and explainable ideas around concentration and how to deploy them at the right place at the right time, it became a critical part of my learning. So I cannot thank much about what I finished reading and how many tidbits and tricks I learnt from it. Hi, for one, always knew that focus is a critical element for success. But how distraction defocuses us and derails us from our goals was still some kind of intangible idea for me. Kam’s book reveals that intangibility and makes it more approachable. Highly recommending this read.
This book contains a distillation of many self development books. It also contains practical application of all the ideas presented by the author. Invest in reading this book then apply the ideas presented. These ideas works.
The books starts with great strategies of how to improve your concentration span. While these strategies are a great reminder, they aren't groundbreaking. Over the course of the book I felt my own concentration waning more and more. I didn't find the author's personal stories or comments grasping. At the same time I also couldn't gain any more insight into how I would actually improve my concentration. I wondered if I am generally the wrong audience for this book. As a teacher I might know more than the average person how to engage my students and help them to focus on a topic for a longer amount of time. If you really can't concentrate for more than half an hour straight, this book might actually give you advice on how to start improving.

This book is full of practical strategies to help maintain concentration. However it is long winded and it takes a fair bit of reading to get to the useful parts of the book. I think that this could have been summarized more. Nevertheless, the strategies are still useful.
