There is nothing better than revisiting a couple that your adore. I fell in love with Jonathan and Monica and it was by the very beautiful and lyrical words of this author. I had read all these shorts except for the new one. So as I reread the old ones, it made me fall in love all over again with this extraordinarily perfect couple. The new short did not disappoint and just solidified my love for Jonathan and Monica!! If you have read The Submission Series (it’s in my all time favorite series collection) then this anthology is like going home and if you haven’t then I implore you to start the series and experience the magic of intense and abiding love.

CD Reiss has a gift for taking mere words and making them sing with an ebb and flow that lives in your heart long after you reach the end.

What a delectable anthology. I devoured Reiss’ words like tomorrow didn’t exist and if it were ever possible, fell even harder for two of my all-time favourite characters. I don’t know why I seem to start her books late at night. Maybe niggly interruptions are less likely to occur but for whatever the reason, I didn’t put the Collection down until I’d turned the last page.
For me, meeting up with Jonathan and Monica again was like going home after a long stay away. I’d seriously missed them so with Rachel’s first words, memories came flooding back. And I wanted more. Reiss never fails to deliver mouthwatering prose and her generosity towards these two incorrigible lovers who are simply meant to be, abounds.
‘I was letting him do whatever he wanted, because he was my king, and his voice let me know a king was precisely what I needed.’
Ooh my! Both are so tuned into each other that they left me speechless. Their ribbing, innuendos and Monica’s heartfelt doubts which I have no wish to divulge as they’re hers to tell, blew my mind. I couldn’t have enjoyed their honesty in and out of the bedroom more. Getting lost in their thoughts, humming do-re-mi...well, not only was I offered laugh-out-loud moments, but I never doubted Monica’s SUBMISSION to her gorgeous husband for one minute. He’s her king, she’s his goddess and together they are dynamite.

This collection was okay. None of these extra stories really needed to be told, but it's nice to go back and see how Jonathan and Monica are doing. It was also lovely that Theresa and Antonio, my two favorite C.D. Reiss characters, were given a quick cameo.
However, the chapter where Monica and Jonathan both had a twitter conversation with one another was all kinds of awful.

Fell in love all over again
This collection of Johnathan and Monica just makes me more deeply and desperately in love with them than ever before. They were the couple I read after 50 shades as so long ago and they forever changed me. I compare every couple to them.

The story of my favourite couple Jonathon and his Goddess Monica. Little tales and snippets and then the 2020 story, so good, so well written by C D she brings her characters to life and you feel them, so real. I smiled and shed a tear too.

I listened to the Submission series many years ago when each book was separate. It was such a unique story; one I'd never read before. Then, I listened to Christian Fox and Jo Raylan bring Jonathan Drazen and Monica Faulkner to beautiful, broken life. At that time, I was new to the topic of BDSM and power exchanges. I found it all very intriguing. I devoured all the Drazen stories, but Jonathan and Monica were my favorite.
Every once in a while, I'd revisit Jonathan and Monica, and every time I listened to the audiobooks, I'd pick up something new. Probably something I wasn't clear on or didn't completely understand before. Now, many years later, BDSM has become my favorite sub-genre. I love the power dynamics of BDSM and all that falls under that category.
This wonderful collection of snippets from my favorite Drazen couple has made me so happy, and my heart full. Going back to when Jonathan and Monica were younger and hadn't met just yet was a special treat. Knowing what happens around these brief moments doesn't make them any less exciting or new. It just gives that much more of CD Reiss' gift of Jonathan and Monica. These two are definitely one of a handful of books that have stayed with me through the years, and I can honestly say there hasn't been nor will there ever be another couple quite like these two. And I'm not even mad a little bit about that. Thank you, Christine for sharing a part of your heart and soul.

In order to understand all the bonus content in this book, you will have to read the whole Submissive Series first. These are great little extra tidbits that relate to the series.
1. Rachel
Rachel is the girl that comes up in the story of Jonathan & Monica. Jonathan knew Rachel way before he met Monica. This little story tells of the time when he was fifteen and she was not much older than him. This story involves Jonathan's father. It is not pretty in the least. The story jumps back and forth from his engagement party with Jessica, to the past of him and Rachel. There was also the birthday party for Sheila, but they weren't engaged yet. Jonathan and Rachel were seeing one another at that time. Rachel was there and she was talking to his father. He left with Rachel, but he was drunk, and doesn't remember the rest of the evening. At his engagement part there was a hypnotist and he hypnotized him and everything came back to him. What an awakening it was. This brings to light the missing pieces in the book itself.
2. First Morning
Things went right, and then they didn't. A call from your ex will do that. Monica left. Why? Did she hear him on the phone? This was a steamy chapter, all in all, but a good one.
3. A Valentine
It's six weeks after Jonathan's transplant. Both of them are afraid to have sex because of Jonathan's condition. He has been given the go ahead, though. He goes for his biopsy the next day, just to find out it's Valentine's Day, which he forgot. He made a plan for a romantic dinner. Monica had already made plans. Both of their plans were surprises. He ended up going home where she was. Finally, the sex issue wasn't a problem anymore. It's a cute little story; only four chapters.
4. Love Note
This is a note to Monica from Jonathan. He is her dominant and she is submissive. He lays out orders for her on what to do until he flies to see her. She loves pain and he's only happy to give it.

She also needs to breathe with the things she does with Jonathan, such the title of the story, also. It's a fascinating short story. I love it.
7. Beat
Jonathan and Monica are in Italy. Jonathan's sister found out they were going, and her and her husband went there, too. He finds out his sister cannot have children. She is sad. Jonathan and Monica have a daughter Gabrielle. They get to the hotel where he punishes her for actions during the day. It is what she craves and what he likes to do. They fit perfectly together. Then they were in the past. His kidneys are failing from the heart transplant he had. Now they're in Zurich. About an artificial heart that Jonathan was funding. They gave him an artificial heart. It worked. I was so happy to hear that.

By now, Jonathan and Monica's daughter was three years old. Monica was gone for two weeks and they had a discussion about going to her dress rehearsal. It's all about control for Jonathan, but Monica wasn't giving in, which would cause repercussions later. They love their daughter and parent to the best of their ability. Jonathan is a numbers man. He counts everything, and I mean everything. Even though Jonathan is a billionaire, he wants more children, which if Monica agrees, she has to slow down her singing career. He also needs another purpose in life, something to concentrate on. She agrees to more children, and he also finds another purpose in life. All is well. Great bonus material to this series.

I am an Audible only girl and THE COMPLETE SUBMISSION SERIES is my all time favorite. Any chance to get more of Jonathan and Monica and I am going to take it , even if I have to READ it. It is gratifying to read the outtakes from Jonathan and Monica’s story. Or, should I say read again. I love Jonathan. The way he defies death, and embraces loving Monica and Gabby. I love alpha heroes with a feet of clay. At the same time so dominant. I am not a fan of sex by torture or BDSM, but somehow these two made it work.

I was gald to have a little more of Jonathon and Monica that was a bit lighter than their last book.
I haven't read about the other couples in the short stories so I skipped them for now and will come back to them.
