This was definitely not what I was expecting after reading the blurb; it was way too high school for me and that book cover doesn’t fit this type of story at all. It’s about anger issues and a possessive relationship for a couple of high schoolers; there’s nothing really original to the story that makes it stand out as different either. Regular high school girl, Mallory, is super distraught about her cheating loser boyfriend dumping her because she wouldn’t have sex with him. She’s a perfectionist type person; she’s a bit of a brat and she’s very naive, but she’s mostly a nice person. She ends up meeting new guy Talon; they have an instant connection, it gets deep and intense fairly quickly. Things aren’t all happy for the new couple though. There are some sweet moments for the couple, but immaturity and certain issues get in the way at times. The story is okay and there were some touching moments, but the writing is a bit simple and I was ultimately dissatisfied with how the story ended. That could be because it looks like there will be a second book that will show these characters in the future; I do kind of want to see where they end up and see them mature, so I may check it out. I just hope they won’t still act like high schoolers when they are in college and older.
