I enjoyed this book but then again with such a cute kitten on the cover you know it's going to be fun. I liked the characters but it was the sidekick Tilly that stole the show with her crazy plans and investigations, her take no prisoners attitude and butting heads with the deputy certainly added to the fun. I also liked the animals in this story, who isn't a sucker for fur balls but I did think the cats in the cafe would have caused problems or escaped at least once. The mystery did work but I felt that there were a few questions left unanswered, the main one being why if they all hated each other did Ginger arrange a reunion? This is book two in the series but I didn't feel like I missed out on all the connections made in the first book, making it a good standalone cozy.
With Sunny and Hitch busy with the opening day for there cat cafe the last thing they want is an old demanding acquaintance of Hitch's to be waiting outside before they even open there doors. Unusual for Hitch he sends her on her way and hours later the police arrive to investigate a missing person report, Ginger never arrived at her destination. To make things worse she was college room mates of Sunny's next door neighbour, who was the one to report her missing. The pair, along with Sunny's dog Jasper and elderly helped Tilly, see out the rest of the day with no more problems and only one more visit from the police, who find Ginger's pocketbook. How could see have checked into her B&B with no money? All they want to do is go home and celebrate the success of day, instead they find Ginger dead in Hitch's kitchen and Tilly's empty drinks cup on the counter. Can Sunny find the killer before the police arrest either of her friends? In order to do so Sunny will have to spend time with the person she hates most in the world, her neighbour, that is unless of course Tilly's investigations end up with her in jail.
