ML Nystrom had stories in her head since she was a child. All sorts of stories of fantasy, romance, mystery and anything else that captured her interest. A voracious reader, she’s spent many hours devouring books; therefore, she found it only fitting she should write a few herself!
ML has spent most of her life as a performing musician and band instrument repair technician, but that doesn’t mean she’s pigeon-holed into one mold. She’s been a university professor, belly dancer, craftsperson, soap maker, singer, rock band artist, jewelry maker, lifeguard, swim coach, and whatever else she felt like exploring. As one of her students said to her once, "Life’s too short to ignore the opportunities." She has no intention of ever stopping... so welcome to her story world. She hopes you enjoy it!
I loved this one as much as the last book! Owen is amazing and I want a person like him. And Melanie she has got to be one of the strongest woman I've ever read. I just love her character. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one.
READY FOR IT is the second book in the MacAteer Brothers series and I would say it definitely benefits the reader to have at least read book one in this series as it involves all the same characters and some of the situations help by having prior knowledge. I don't feel it is necessary to read the Dragon Runners series.
You know from book one that Melanie goes through 'boyfriends' like a hot knife through butter. What you don't know is the reason behind it. Owen has difficulties with his speech that make him the quiet one until he feels comfortable with you. However, don't mistake his silence for lack of intelligence. Not only is he smart but he has immense emotional intelligence and sees through to the heart of the situation.
As the story progresses you find out more about Melanie's past, mostly in flashback form, which helps to explain partly why she is the way she is. Some of it is just because she's a strong and feisty woman who isn't afraid to stand up for herself.
There is some steam in here but not that much as it takes a lot of the book for Owen and Melanie to get together. What there is, is a lot of loyalty with friends and family you make for yourself. Blood family loyalty? Well, you'll just have to read the book for yourself to figure that one out.
All in all, this was an enjoyable read with a host of brilliant characters. Recommended by me.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Nov 9, 2020
This was my first book by this author and I immediately want to read more. This book is part of a family series and can be read as a a standalone. It is written in first person from a dual POV. Bot MC are complex and well-developed. The plot kept me engaged and I did not want to put the book down. The pacing of the book was just right. Melanie has had some things happen that make her the person she has become and make her feel like she does not deserve love. This is the biggest obstacle to Owen and Melanie getting to their HEA, and it is a one that takes some effort to overcome. I liked Melanie’s determination and the fierce woman she has become despite her past. Owen is a quiet giant with a huge heart. I absolutely fell hard for him very early on in the book. I loved him so much. He is a powerfully built guy who wants to do the right thing and protect Mel on all the levels and made me swoon. He is a giver that accepts Mel for who she is, respects her for who she is, and really wants to support her on her path. At the same time, he recognizes that she holds the power to break his heart and that made him even more attractive to me. There is a trigger warning included in the blurb that should be noted. Humor, heat, and a little angst pull this together and tie it with a very nice HEA bow. I will definitely be reading other books by this author and will be following this MacAteer family.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance review copy from the author.
This is part of a series, so I do suggest at least reading the first book before this. Melanie is Beverly's fun loving best friend, the one that always has a different guy. Self confident and not understanding why with the boys club it's ok to play the field but when it's a woman, well that's a different story altogether. Everything was going so well for Melanie until her life turns in a different direction.
Owen is the quiet MacAteer brother, due to shyness and a speech impediment. Owen agrees to go and work with Connor for a time, this of course means he gets to see Melanie again. The last time he saw her, she made it clear she was available for a little thing but that's not what Owen is wanting. Owen is wanting the whole shebang. But when it's clear that what Melanie really needs is support and just a friend, Owen is willing to be that friend. Will Melanie realize that Owen is more than that or will he forever be friend zoned?
I can't even get into the layers of this story, so I just started with the friends to lovers aspect. What we really get is a whole lot more than just something that simple. I have been hooked with this author's writing from the start so it doesn't surprise me that this was an amazing read. I give this 5 stars.
Two more different people would be hard to find. Owen, shy, rarely speaks, a master with his hands--construction I mean. Melanie, party girl, speaks out, active in everything. He's her besties brother-inlaw. She spends a lot of time with their big, loud, loving family and when Owen comes to work with his brother for the summer they see a lot of each other.
It's going to be a fun summer--until morning sickness strikes. Surprise. The father has NO interest in a baby. But her BFF and family will stand with her. And Owen, he's a friend, right? He'd like to be a lot more but she doesn't recognize it.
Melanie has kept her trauma from her younger days inside. When something awakens the demons she has more than a baby to contend with. Will she and Owen get past the friend zone and become more?
There is fun, family unity, friend loyalty, and so much more. The steam is limited but touching as well as hot. This is a fun romance with a life's lesson learned side that will touch many readers. A strong recommendation for this one and the series. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On.
This book is chuck full of emotive moments. You will laugh, cry, be sad, disappointed, frustrated and so much more. Just when you think you understand what makes these characters tick another dynamic is added.
To the outside world, Melanie Miser is a rich confident young woman with everything going for her. To Melanie, this is only part of the truth. She is plagued by the traumas of her past and believes that she is not worthy of love.
This is compounded by a family that never loved her and let's her know it.
Owen is the strong silent type. A speech impediment has caused him to be overlooked all his life. When the chips are down however he is just the type of man a girl needs in her corner.
This is by far one of the most interesting books I have read this year.
This book deals with some societal issues in a graphic way. ML Nystrom obviously has a good grasp of the way people think as well as the effect of trauma on the human mind.
Oh my sweet giant Owen, you stole my heart from the jump. I know Ready For It is a story, but I was still very offended on Owen's behalf with the way people messed with him & certainly wanted to jump through my kindle to take every last one of them out. That's the beauty of this talented author, I find myself transported into her character's world every last time. Owen wants party girl Melanie in the worst way but she has her own demons which has her not getting close to any man because she doesn't believe she deserves love, so Owen became her friend first since he was just perfect in my eyes. They were so sweet, and I really wanted to shake her a bit so she could see what was in front of her, but I totally have less patience than Owen did. Man I really couldn't have loved this story anymore than I did, and because of this fact, I'm keeping this review short & sweet since I want everyone to just hit those one click buttons instead of reading reviews! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
This is the 2nd book in this series and is Owen and Melanie’s journey. Melanie is the confident, party girl who continually had a different guy around and has a relationship phobia, but what people do not know is that it is her traumatic past which had defined her to become the women she is today. Owen is quiet and shy, and due to a speech impediment, he confines his speaking to his family and those close to him. Owen has always had feeling for Melanie, but he wants more than friendship. These two are total opposites, but when Melanie needs a friend Owen is there for her. Will Melanie take a chance on a relationship? This is a beautifully written story which has a tad angst, heartbreak, friends, family dynamics, loyalty, and is a humorous and steamy read. I was totally enthralled throughout this riveting page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend. Be aware there may be triggers for some readers!
Wow, what a story. It had you gripped throughout, making you want to know what will happen and what happened in the fast. I couldn't put book down once I started.
I loved Owen and Melanie together, once Melanie gives in to her feelings they are amazing together. Owen was always there for her even if she pushed him away. Once they got together they was explosive.
Indepedent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 2 in the MacAteer Brothers series, and it would help to have read book one, Run With It. Not totally necessary, but I would personally recommend you do. You'll get a better feel of Melanie, and Owen and his brothers, I think.
Melanie is Bev's best friend, and looks after herself and stuff anyone else. Owen is one of Connor's younger brothers. Owen has had a bit of a crush on Mel for a long time, and when Mel is left in a difficult place, he steps up. Then the reasons WHY Mel is the way she is with men comes out, and Owen is all Alpha-Male-Protect-Whats-Mine.
I found this a much darker read, given Mel's history, but also I bloody LOVED it!
Mel has a voice in the first person, and Owen in the third. I knew this going in, and expected it, and I enjoyed reading Owen's voice so much more than Connor's. Owen is a gentle giant with a stutter and a speech impediment, that leaves him somewhat tongue tied amoung people he doesn't know, or isn't comfortable with. VERY quickly, Owen is speaking with mel in full sentences, with no sign of his problem. That should have clued him up, right quick, that somethign special was happening between them.
It takes time for Mel and Owen to fully commit, and to get together, and I LOVED being made to wait for it. I think I would have loved it even they had NOT got to the smexy times, I really do. Mel's little problem not withstanding. But once they do? OOOOEEEEE! They are committed and all in. I loved that.
Owen doesn't say much, verbally, but when we get him in his chapters, he is deep. He was hurt before, and you understand why he holds himself back some, but he loves Mel, from very early on, and it pained me when she kept friend-zoning him!
We get a bit more of Garrett, Owen's twin, and his book is next. We also meet the lady who will steal his heart. THAT book is next on my list, and given what we learn here, and reading the blurb, I think it may well be a bit darker than this one!
Billed as s spin off to the Dragon Runners series, it's not necessary to read those. I didn't like them, to be honest, but I'm loving these and I look forward to reading about the other set of twins further down the series!
I was looking forward to Mel’s book after the first one in the series, but this was a letdown for me.
I skimmed through quite a bit of this book. It had far too many side characters who should’ve been in jail for assault or harassment, fired from their job for assault or harassment, and/or been beaten to a pulp at some point. I just couldn’t stop myself from rolling my eyes nonstop and being pissed off that the FMC had to deal with SO many of those characters. The FMC’s baby daddy, her boss, and her entire immediately family and their friends were the worst of the worst, and I struggled to get through a story where dang every aspect of her life had such reprehensible people. Not only was she raped, which was expected based on the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book, but her own brother was there and let it happen. Wtf. And the being pregnant out of wedlock being so scandalous everywhere she went? Give me a break. I had to double check to make sure I wasn’t unknowingly reading a period piece.
Also, the FMC’s family was basically a copy/paste of the Stud’s family from the book what we first meet Owen: insanely wealthy, beyond snobby and rude, prude, a father who’s opening cheating on the wife, a MC who catches said father cheating, a brother who’s a ridiculous life of shit and should cease to exist. Reading about such a horrible family once was more than enough for me; I surely didn’t need an identical second dose.

This is the second book in the series. I think they are better read in order. Owen has a speech problem that never really got fixed. It doesn’t affect him all the time but it does make speaking harder. Melanie has issues of her own. Stemming from her childhood. She finds herself in an interesting situation. Own and Mel begin spending more time together. Owen helping her out. But when they begin to develop feelings for each other that is when things get even more interesting for them. Owen doesn’t want to just be another notch of Mel’s bed post. Melanie isn’t ready do deal with the way Owen makes her feel. What if things go wrong? She can’t stand the thought of him not being in her life. Will treating him like just a friend and denying her feeling cause her to lose him anyway? I really felt for Mel. Her childhood was horrible and in regards to her family not much has changed. She must find a way to deal with her past before she can even attempt to have a future with Owen. Owen must decide long to let Mel stew before moving on. Will they be able to find a way through everything and be together? I loved this book so much. I love the Dragon Runners series and this is a spin off of that. I look forward to reading about the other brothers. Fantastic job ML Nystrom.
School teacher Melanie seems to have it all: a great condo, a job she loves, financial freedom, a sporty car. This comes at cost, with a family that despises her and will do anything to put her down and exclude her from their lives where possible. Melanie is confident and not afraid to speak her mind.
Owen is one of the MacAteer brothers who are excellent with their hands. Owen is the quietest of the brothers, having grown up being made fun of the way he speaks so he says very little. Owen happens to be around when Melanie needs someone to catch her and support her at a challenging time in her life.
Melanie and Owen couldn't be more different but they ground the other. There is no judgement from either about the other's lives and choices. Having a really quiet and stoic character like Owen is not the easiest to write but ML Nystrom knocked this one out of the park.
Loved It! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. Ready for It is the second book in the MacAteer Brothers series. This is Owen and Melanie's story. Owen is one of Conner brothers. Melanie is best friends with Beverly. Owen, shy, rarely speaks, and he works with his hands in construction. Melanie, a party girl, speaks out, active in everything. So far Owen and Melanie are one of my favorite out of the brothers. This story has great characters, and great story line. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL! I look forward to the rest in the series. I couldn't stop reading at ALL!!!! Can't wait to read more from this series. Keep up the awesome work!

I loved the main characters. The steam was good but it needed more of it. Also, and I'll probably sound like a meanie but at this point I'm kinda tired of them kids. I feel like the kids from the first book take so much space in this book. I grinded my teeth every time I read COOLIO... I get that its meant to show family and how it threads through each story but dayuum I would have liked to hear how it ended with her brother or more of her with baby ryan. I liked the H more than the h but that's been standard for so far in her books. Lets see what happens next...
Owen and Melanie 's story flowed so well. Though the ending left me wanting more closure. Owen tugged at my heart as I learned of his struggles with his speech disability. He was my favorite character. Cheered for him the whole way through! Melanie was a very complexed character. Her journey unraveled very slowly. You liked her and then you didn't. This was a little bit of a struggle for me. I wanted more with their ending.
This is a great addition to the series. First acquainted with the brothers in the book STUD where their sister met her biker. So enjoy the way this author tells her stories. I love the way the characters are developed and I just want to be adopted into their warm family. Lots of angst revealed as well as long hidden family secrets. Highly recommend. HEA, no cheating and no cliffhanger.
What can I say another amazing book!!! I love the macateer brothers. But Owen is one of my favourite!!! Yes he quite and have a speech problem but once your on his circle your in it for live .. the love he has for Melanie is endless!!! Melanie had a tough life but she got through it and as you read the book you love her just as much as Owen!! The over these 2 have for one another is endless!!! I'm so grateful the both got their happy ever after!!!
I think I fell in love with Owen. Where can I get me one. He was perfect. My heart broke For Mel. She went through so much from a young age to Adult. It was like the world was against her but she kept fighting. As I was reading the book I immediately pegged Roberts character exactly how it was written. It hurt me that Mel was rapped & her own brother let it happen. So far Owen is my Favorite. I look forward to the rest in the series.
Owen is a quiet, intelligent man with a speech impediment. Melanie is a party girl that seems to have it all until she's forced to face her traumatic past. Owen has always wanted to be more than a friend or fling to Melanie. Now that she really needs a friend, Owen is there for her. The two can become close and have a chance for more if they can overcome their troubles. A good read.
Wow!!! This is the second book in the MacAteer Brothers series and is Owen and Melanie’s story. We met them both in previous books. Owen is seriously the best book boyfriend ever. This man’s heart runs so deep. Swoon city. Love Melanie even more knowing her backstory. These 2 are the other half of their souls. Can’t wait for the next one!
Owen is my favorite....ok I know I said Connor was, but dang....Owen....silent by nature she to his speech issues, strong, protective and perfect.
Melanie, strong willed, sassy, doesn't need anyone.....well until Owen. He breaks her down and he helps her see she deserves love, she deserves his love.
I've been in a book slump for awhile now. Absolutely no interest to read. But then picked up my kindle thought to re-read something. Found Mute. Remembered how much I loved that book then began a new search. Ooo look she has a new series. Yipeeeee. So now I say book slump...what book slump! I'm off to read book #3
I love this series! I enjoy reading stories that incorporate real life issues and in such a realistic way. The strength of family in all her books is something that keeps bringing me back. Another amazing read, thank you for this!
I really loved Owen. There's just something about a gentle giant that you gotta love. And he is perfect for Mel. She definitely needs some sweetness in her life. I very much recommend this addition to the MacAteer Brothers series.
Loved Owen and Melanie both had been thru so much in their lives. There's was not a quick falling in love it was slowly built over time. This is a wonderful series I'm looking forward to the next book 😊
I loved Owen and Melanie’s characters and was very happy to see them get their happy ever after. I was a bit sad to see that there was punishment for two of the characters that were involved with Mel’s assault, hopefully something gets mentioned in a future book.
Melanie and Owen were great. I loved how Melanie kept standing up for herself even though a lot of c--- was tossed her way. Owen standing up to her brother and father was inspiring. I did appreciate how Melanie's dad came back at the end. Too bad her brother couldn't have a change of heart.
