This novella has Clay Spear going from a trainee at a space service to being a commander of a ship, where his first officer is the daughter of the admiral of the space service. They are headed to Alpha Promaxi and are to drop off a planette, which is basically a satellite to go around the star instead of a planet.

Everything goes wrong on this trip. It literally becomes the ship ride from hell and they lose something like 1/12 of their crew, even though navigation is done automatically. In addition, the explanation for the time dilation has inconsistencies in it, indicating the caption is 22 and has a 10-year-old son.

The book tries to be funny....but personally, I didn't really get the humor because it too bland or something. The one good thing was that it was only 152 pages are indicated in ebook format so it was a quick read.
