Stone Haven #1

Contingency Plan

Rate this book
Seven years have passed since Willa Roberts left her hometown of Huntington, South Carolina and never looked back. It’s not that she hates the tiny, charming town she grew up in, it’s just that there are memories she’d rather not relive.

Painful, haunting memories. And not just of the death of her parents.

A rejection from the one person she thought she could depend on is what ultimately drove Willa to New York City, where she now has her dream job as an event coordinator and a handsome, successful husband.

But when Willa discovers her husband’s infidelity, it’s like deja vu as fight-or-flight mode kicks in, and she chooses flight yet again. Hitting rock bottom is what caused her to leave seven years ago, and hitting rock bottom is what’s bringing her right back. When everything begins to fall apart, sometimes the only answer is to go back to your roots and try for a fresh start.

Grant Stone has never entertained the thought of leaving Huntington. After launching a successful architecture company and building Stone Haven—a house he dreamed up with Willa—Stone has just one regret: letting Willa go all those years ago. So when he discovers that Willa has returned as a newly single woman in search of a job as an event planner, he wonders if this is too good to be true.

Because Willa is not the same person she was when she left. And neither is Stone. When the stars align just right, Willa realizes the answer to all of her questions just might be Stone Haven, the man behind it, and the pact they made all those years ago.

Contingency Plan is book one in the Stone Haven Romance Series.

With 3 books published Wrenn Montgomery has quickly become one of my favorite authors. This novel takes place in a small town where everyone knows everyone. Willa & Stone were electric when they were young and just enjoying life. Though they never committed to a ‘relationship’ because Stone had commitment fears and he pushes Willa away.

A broken marriage and no where else to go Willa returns home. Thanks to Willa’s best friend Kenna, who is the perfect friend every girl wants, Willa comes face to face with Stone.

The novel is told in both Willa & Stones POV which I felt provided the perfect balance.

Montgomery always writes women who are empowering while still being sultry. Willa knew what her body wanted and wasn’t afraid to go for it! I found Willa relatable especially when she has to balance her heart and mind. Willa was fierce and even after having multiple obstacles thrown her way she always remained strong and adapted.

Stone. He was a breath of fresh air. I loved that he stuck to his word. That he didn’t run off when hurt or confused and find someone to keep his bed warm. I loved all the sexy smirks.

And that scene when Stone walks up behind Willa and compliments her shirt, awwww I heard him whispering in my ear! God, Stone and Willa were hot.
The electricity they shared when they were younger is now coals that have been simmering for years and ready to burn them at first touch!

Can’t wait for the second Stone Haven novel. Thank you to the author for my review copy. Wrenn’s writing is the absolute perfect escape.

It took me just overnight to finish this incredible book. Grant Stone, to me, is every woman’s fantasy. Willa Roberts has emotions throughout the book that I’m sure every woman or person, really, can relate to. A bit steamy but what’s a book without that? Just adds to the excitement. Only thing I wish to add: I’d love to see them have a child. Overall, what an amazing book! You won’t regret this read :)

I am submitting this review upon reading an Advanced Reader Copy of the first book in a brand new series by Wrenn Montgomery and Victoria Ellis. Thank you for the opportunity!

I could not put this book down. Just like anything else I’ve read from Wrenn or Victoria, I read the entire book in basically a day. Plus, it has everything I personally love in romance books; a GORGEOUS cover, small towns, former lovers, lovable characters you just NEED to read more of, and the perfect amount of steam. And let me just tell you...Stone and Willa...HOTTT.

I cannot express how much I loved this book. I absolutely am in love with how Wrenn writes and the attachment created to her characters. If this is your first Wrenn Montgomery book, I HIGHLY suggest you read the first two books (so far) of her Inspired series, “Nevermore” and “Pride and Persuasion.” If you’ve already read them, well you know this is just another home run from one of my new favorite authors!

Contingency Plan came out last week I devoured it in a few hours. My Carpel tunnel didn't want me to talk about it. But now I can.

Oh, my sweet Jesus, Stone and Willa FOREVER. Okay now that I got that out the way.

I really loved how this story started out. Willa finds out that her husband of several years has been having an affair and she's ready to kick rocks, take her power back. And I loved it! She lived him and returns home to fictional town Huntington South (?) Carolina.

She left home as soon as she could. Well, that's not entirely true but you'll have to read the book to understand. Now that she's back Stone has her in his sights he let her go once he's not doing it again. But also he's kinda doing it again.

The two of them drove me crazy in the best way. Both stubborn and still on love. They made a pact years ago and despite the angst plaguing the two, they follow through with it. What results is hawt af. Just saying.

Contingency Plan is a pretty quick read and I enjoyed every second of it.

Second chance romance, YES PLEASE!
This book follow Willa and Stone who had a thing when they were in HS and then Stone told Willa to leave when she asked him if she should stay or go. After finding out about her unfaithful marriage, Willa leaves her life in NYC and goes back to her small town and back to Stone. Things start off weird for Stone and Willa, they don’t really know how to act or feel for each other. Seeing them get together again was so worth the slow burn of this book. I loved seeing them learn to be with each other again. They were able to find the rhythm they had when they were younger and make it better than before. They were such a perfect fit for each other, even if some jealousy got in the way. One of my favorite parts of this book were the side characters and their rules in Stone and Willa’s life.

Plans set in stone

I enjoyed this book. Sometimes the places you think you don't want to be is exactly where should be. That's the moral of the story. That you can always go home and start again. Life is full of curve balls you just have to make the best of it.

What happens when a life you lead turns out it could have been completely different? When thought only you were affected but the other person was too - just never let you know.

Willa escaped a small town years ago when her young love Stone, told her to go. Living life to the best you can, until another man destroys your heart.... What must you do? Return to your routes.

With Stone and Willa back in close proximity can the last 7 years be dealt with or is there too much past to deal with?

A fantastic quick read that unravels in front of your eyes drawing you in from the very beginning.

Grant Stone. A name that will literally have you swooning.

Willa and Stone’s (as we will all come to love him by) entire life seems to have been destined. But all it takes is one word and all that should be isn’t. This is my first of Wrenn’s book and I loved the emotions she gave us, the banter, the comfort of home. The truths that are faced and the friendships that stand true, I love when books just give us that feeling of belonging. Where we could just walk right into this town and say hello. Willa could be someone we know, could be us and Stone someone we easily fall for for.

Wrenn gives us a beautiful journey of learning how to forgive yourself, forget the past and find your heart again.

Wrenn Montgomery has made her way to being my favorite author, along with Victoria Ellis!

Let me start by saying that this book is the perfect amount of suspense with romance. Stone is a romantic introvert, who makes you feel all the things, while also calling him “such an asshole”. Isn’t that every girls dream, though?
Willa is, well, secretly every girl I know. She’s reserved, but a romantic at heart. Which makes the perfect fall together couple for this book! The back and forth between them and friends really made this book feel like a real day to day life I was privy to, rather than a “never gonna happen” romance book. I highly recommend it, but be prepared to spend a whole day reading, because you won’t be able to put it down!

Come on!! Great book again?!

After reading third book by Wrenn Montgomery I can say that she is in my top 3 favourite authors. How can you not love Willa and Stone?

Being from a small town myself I could really feel what Willa had to deal with. Everyone knows everyone and everyone's story. You cannot hide in a place like that.

But here we are, in the big farmhouse with Willa and Stone, guy she loved in highschool. I loved every moment of their story. The way Wrenn writes about Willa's feelings is amazing, I admire her writing style.

And of course there was a place for great supporting characters: Kenna, Ryan and Travis. Ryan for some reason has a special place in my heart and I don't know why. I can't wait to read more about them.

Holy amazing book! I could not put this book down today. It took me less than a day to read it because I was so engrossed in the story. This is the first thing I have read by Wren, and I don't know why it has taken me this long. The story is beautifully written. I found myself rooting for the main character and hoping things worked out for her. And it was HOT. Shew! I loved every second, every word, every page. I can't wait for more from this series.

This was a book that hooked me quickly! Willa has dealt with it all when it comes to those she loves. Stone is a southern gentleman and stubborn as can be. Put the two together for this second chance romance and it’s one hell of a ride. I loved their story and can’t wait for According to Plan (book 2) to come out. The Stone Haven series is starting out with a bang

Contingency Plan started off well, but the chapters slowly started to decline. Very quickly it became a predictable read, with bland and unoriginal characters with poor communication skills and a history of romance that has been done too many times before. Weak and unmemorable.

This book sucked so badly I mostly skimmed the last 25%. Over 400 pages and there was not one drop of chemistry. Maybe if I was a midwestern mom of 4 that followed Southern Living and thought mayonnaise was I spice, I might have like it.

This is the first book I've read from this author. I liked it overall. The authors writing style flows. I wish the side characters had a little more page time and interaction with the main characters. I also felt like the main characters' back stories could have been shared a little better instead of just being told to the reader in a few pages. Overall, though, it was an enjoyable book.

My only major complaint was the end. The two main characters have all these unresolved issues and they get into an argument and then it just... stops. Like, all of a sudden, everything is fine and the book wraps up. It's SO quick and it made me feel a little cheated. I understand how the author intended for the scene to be read but that's not how it happened in my head. It came out more like emotional whiplash. I was feeling the anger and tension from the argument and then the characters are just totally fine. It just felt rushed and forced.

So, book is pretty good. Ending could have happened at a slower pace so the reader can work through those emotions without the characters racing ahead of them.

I really liked this book. I was given an arc of the second book in this series According to Plan by Victoria Ellis and loved it. The great thing about this series is each book can be read as a stand alone so after falling in love with book #2 I backtracked to pick up #1. This story was unique in it’s different kind of love story. You ache for Stone and Willa, you root for them, you find yourself yelling at them too. To sum it up, the book is about two people who are right for each other and know it and everyone else knows it but they won’t admit it to each other. I loved reading their story and I definitely can’t wait for book #3 in this series.

I loved Willa and Stone and I'm very excited to follow them and their friends throughout the rest of the series. This author has a wonderful talent and is able to weave a fabulous story that glides right along and is very easy to read. This one ended with the expected HEA which is what I went into it looking for so overall I am very happy with it.

Willa comes home after her marriage ends. With the help from her best friends growing up. Both realize they never got over each other. I enjoyed reading this small town second chance romance. I received an arc and volunteered to review it.
