This is similar to other books on this topic which I have read and a lot of the ideas are the same. I have heard of "spirit guides" before, your angels and protectors who help you here on Earth. It is a great comfort to know you are never alone.
I lost my grandmother a few years ago and we were really close. She had told others "Jamie and I have a special bond", I remember doing everything I could to take care of her at grandpa's funeral when I was 10 and she told me she never forgot. I had to stop reading a section one morning about loosing a grandmother because I was getting ready for work and could not stop crying. This book can really hit home.
I have a decoration for my rearview mirror made with her funeral flowers with a charm which says "When a cardinal appears, your angel is near". Thank you for mentioning birds being a sign from above. I find it comforting knowing she still watches over me.
I also lost an ex boyfriend to suicide almost 10 years ago. I remember having a bad day at work, my stress level was through the roof, and our high school prom song came on over the radio and stopped me in my tracks. It was like he was saying "Calm down, I am here". I also had a dream shortly after he passed about what it would have been like if we had stayed together. All of these things are mentioned in great detail in this book.
I still think about my grandmother every day and not long ago, got the feeling she wasn't staying as close anymore. I don't know why, but this upset me a great deal. This book answered the question why and gave me the reassurance I needed to know she is ALWAYS with me, even though I don't always feel it.
What makes this book different? It gives you exercises you can do if you feel like you need to talk to your loved ones on the other side. This is a good reference guide I will keep for when I need it again. Thank you for a great book to review, it was my pleasure reading it!
I didn’t know what to expect when purchasing this book. What I got out of it is priceless. I have been able to better connect and hone in on messages and the presence of my mother who passed away three years ago. I will be keeping this book for the rest of my life, and I will be rereading and continuing to underline important sentences that spoke to me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has experienced a loss of any kind close to their hearts. This author has truly shaped my beliefs and her work has changed me forever.
A beautiful book to help in your grief and healing journey. For someone who hasn’t read a lot of books about spirituality, after-life, soul contracts, etc it may not be the best book to start with. A lot of what the author shares is not directly supported in text, but just has to be believed. So if someone needs something more concrete to make them believe, I’d maybe start with other books (many she lists in the reference at the end of the book). But if your heart is open, this is a lovely book to make you truly believe our loved one are not far away.
I really enjoyed some of the theories and exercises, they were extremely comforting. However, some I really disagree with... like children who have been abused have supposedly consented to that happening before they're born. I understand that we can grow and learn from terrible things that happen to us (if we survive them anyway...) but that idea just doesn't sit right with me. I think sometimes people are just nasty, and that has nothing to do with our souls and life plan. I'm definitely picking and choosing the bits of this book that vibe with me and my beliefs 😊.
Loved it! I found this book to be very reassuring. When we lose a love one, grief is a painful process that involves feelings of regret, guilt, confusion, anger, sadness. The Author does an excellent job helping you put the loss in perspective by offering ways to 'communicate' through dreams, writing, journalling, intuition and sensing a presence. I especially liked the idea the Author suggests of asking a loved one to be 'with you' in your dream. There are many practical tips and advice the Author offers to make the grief process an 'active' process so you can work through & process your feelings. Thank you NetGalley and Llewellyn Publications for the opportunity to read this delightful book!
This is the second Sherrie Dillard book I’ve read, and although I didn’t like it as much as the first, I found it full of insight.
Dillard discusses what happens to the souls of our loved ones after they’ve passed on, describing the soul review process. This section could have easily been lifted from one of Michael Newton’s books about our souls’ journeys. In later chapters, she discusses how our deceased loved ones continue to communicate with us today, and provides exercises we can complete to communicate with our loved ones on the other side.
I appreciated the author’s easygoing and conversational writing style, but found several sections repetitive. I received the most insight from the book through her inclusion of several case studies, where she assisted her clients in communicating with their deceased loved ones.
Perhaps I will gain more insight from the book if I have the opportunity to read it again.
I have always believed that everyone has the potential to receive messages from the departed. The difference between those who do receive messages and those who don't is simply belief and practice. Like anything else worthwhile, time and attention has to be applied to develop a skill. Sherrie Dillard has done a great job in helping a reader to understand the potential that is there and the ways to practice and connect to loved ones. The author describes experiences she has had with others that I truly loved reading about. This book is a wonderful resource for those looking to move away from guilt, regret and move forward through their grief. Many thanks to Llewellyn Publications and Netgally for the opportunity to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Imagine you can receive messages from loved ones after they passed. You can be reassured they are fine from the other side, or they can give you messages. In this book, Sherrie talks about sessions she has had with clients and psychic conversations. She talks about signs and signals to look for to know your loved ones are near you. She also reiterates the four different types of psychics. If you are intuitive or would like to improve your psychic skills, I recommend this book.
2 Stars: This was a nice “Outline” about passing to the other side, but it needs further development. I can picture this as a handout given to someone grieving a loss; but there is not enough detail or volume to even be called a novella. I’ve read many books on the subject over the past 35 years from varied sources. It’s always good to hear different perspectives. But this was a disappointment. InformatIon states the book to be >200 pages; it was not:

This book is amazing. After reading this book I am no longer afraid of death. That is huge because it was always a big fear I had throughout my whole life. I also learned so much about how to communicate with my loved ones who have passed which has given me tremendous amounts of peace and healing. I am so thankful to have read this book and I plan to read more from this author. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
Sherrie is an amazing storyteller. She provides good advice on how to connect with loved ones who have passed while weaving stories from client readings to support her findings. I recommend it to anyone especially if you have experienced the passing of a loved one.
I Am Still With You. Book is poorly written , the grammar is so bad it ruined my reading flow. The topic was interesting (2 points). The content is written with such knowing as if the author had already experienced the after life. Way too authoritive for the subject. I do not recommend this book.
Beautifully, thoughtfully written. I found it to be validating of my own feelings, guidance and intuition. Many helpful and thought-provoking exercises and incredible life stories of loss. I recommend this book for anyone who is in grief and struggling with the illusion of separation. Only love is real.
I wouldn’t necessary say that the first section was entirely unhelpful but I did raise my eyebrows a considerable number of times. However, I valued section 3 and 4 and much of this knowledge will stay with me and help me going forward.
This was a very healing read. I loved the authors concept of the afterlife and find it to be the most comforting. The only thing I didn't like about this book was how redundant some of the paragraphs were.
This book had helpful information and an uplifting perspective on connecting with our loved ones after they pass away. It kinda dragged at times for me and the writing was very flowery or maybe too expressive. I found myself saying, ‘hurry up say what you want to say!’
This book is a really amazing book for anyone whose looking for a book to help not only heal your own grief but to help you loved one who passed on communicate with you
Although I don’t completely buy into the author’s overall belief system, I enjoyed reading some beautiful passages about her occupational interactions with grieving clients who want to communicate with their deceased loved ones.
I LOVE how this book can be a source of comfort for those going through loss / grief. I just thought there’d be more… of a “witchy” connection. That’s why it only got 4 stars.
