Did my mages, my demi-gods, and I need to hold a Halloween party? No, of course not. Was I going to anyway? You better freakin’ believe it. I didn’t even feel bad! We needed a break! Even if it was for a day, a healthy work and life balance was essential… even if it was holding a bloody Halloween party and the work was determining who was sucking magic out of people like goddamn juice boxes.
Except, my relaxed plans don’t go exactly as I thought… Instead, I am left with a shredded costume, a surge of memories that I could have lived without, and two new friendships that I couldn’t have seen coming. That didn’t even count the dangerously hot connection that was growing between my men and I.
What I did learn after a trip to the Demonic Realm? We had to go to the God Realm. We didn’t have an option anymore.
Note from Author: The Descendant series will feature characters from both the Reborn series and Tears of the Siren series. It will not be necessary to read either of those to understand the plot, however they do intertwine in a way that enhances the universe. Don’t worry, no spoilers are present!
Join Nova on her 9 book series adventure! This Fantasy slow/medium burn RH contains several dark themes that readers should be aware of: swearing (I know, surprising, right?), gore, violence, assault, PTSD, and sexual themes suitable for +18. Additionally, this book does have mature m/m themes that develop over time.

Just remember to love cats... that's not negotiable.
Okay, so the sequel and the first book were okay in my eyes but Descendant of Sin was really just okay. I feel like the first two were a bit stronger than this one and I honestly found myself bored pretty easily. Don't get me wrong, I love bantering and romance but at one point - I just stopped caring.
Plus things just seemed repeatable. Or maybe predictable? Not sure but I get that she thinks her guys are sexy and she should.. but I don't need to hear about it all the freaking time. I get it. The whole world gets it.. can we move on to something else? Like action?
Which, yes, eventually we skedaddle on over to but at that point I already lost my interest in what was happening. Or what was going to go down. I either wanted things to be done with or nothing at all. Maybe have a meteorite hit their world and then boom - they are all gone?!?! Or a bunch of them? Either way I would be happy.
Sadly, that didn't happen and I'm off to the next book.
Similar to the Reborn series, I feel like the series starts off really strong and the next two books (as I've read both so far) are plot filling. Majority of the book is spent with an inner monologue of how "hot/sexy/psycho/insane" her "monsters" are. We get it.; shit gets old after the first few chapters.
The one point where some action occurs, a few lines are spent on it and we get back to useless filler. I gave up at 85% when they are still wasting time talking about going to the God realm (since p4, mind) and still haven't gone there.
I think the goal of making this a 9 books series or whatever left is going to involve a lot more of this filler tactic. I think it's a waste because her characters are very interesting with a lot of potential. It's all put to waste as 90% of what comes out of their mouths are superficial quips that make them sound like the only thing on their minds is to have sex with each other.
Nova really is everything!! I'm convinced that she's my spirit animal or would be if I could be as bad ass as she is!! M Sinclair BLEW me away with this story and I'm seriously pumped to see what happens in the god realm.
*** I revived an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ***
hmmm... where to start?
First, let me just say how much i LOVE Everett and Cassian. 🥺 they’ve been my favorites from the start of the series and were the ones to inspire my love of psycho MMCs. This book definitely didn’t disappoint, and I loved getting to know more about Cass and Fox and seeing Cass finally give into his desire for Nova.
I also really enjoyed seeing more of the Demigod Twins personalities come out, and seeing what they bring to the group, rather than just back up, if that makes any sense.
While this book wasn’t as action packed and fast paced as the other books in this series, it was filled with great character/world development and seemed to be setting everything up for the 4th book. I also really enjoyed the cameos for some of her other characters in the universe and am very excited to see what happens next!
Oh my god, I love Nova so much! I love how strong and snarky she is! And M Sinclair writes the best harem men ever! They are all so alpha and possessive! Each book you read in this series you can see just how each relationship develops and how obsessed Nova and her guys are with each other. It’s so fun to read and I love how all the characters have a cross over with the other books in M Sinclair’s different series. Nova is still fighting her fathers witches in this book and still trying to figure out how he is draining power, in between dream visits to the Gods. There was so much happening in this book and I’m anxious to find out what will happen to Nova once she goes to the God realm. I can’t wait for the next book!
Oh goodness. Our dear Nova is just so fantasticly quirky and psychotic that you can't help but love her. While all the characters have their struggles from the past and present, I'm enjoying seeing them develop and grow. Especially with each other. I also loved the little crossovers with Lorcan and Maya. I think I might love this group of girls more than Gray and Vegas! The story flows so easily you can't help but zip through the book. I'm so beyond excited for the next book as well as the inevitable crossovers. It's going to be epic!

~REVIEW🖋~ The Quick and Dirty: Nova, her harem of crazy hot mages and two demi-gods deal with a plot attempt to take her out + a team quest to figure out who has been draining energy in the demonic realm.
This was such a fun, quick read. Nova is still just as snarky and quirky and even though we see her relationship with the guys mature, they still stay authentic to their personalities. I absolutely loved the crossover with the Tears of the Siren series. Nova and Lorcan were totally meant to be besties and I’m so excited that they finally got to meet and that it sounds like we’ll see more crossovers in the future!
My one small critique was that there were a few moments where it felt a little slow, like they had discussed a plan and it takes awhile for them to actually get there. Otherwise, I still love, love, love the series and can’t wait for the next book!

This book was absolutely amazing. If you’ve not read about Nova and her men, then I highly recommend you start with ‘Descendant of Chaos’. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed. This book not only gives you some iconic scenes - like a Halloween party - but also gives us some more moments with our crazy people. Nova’s harem is filled with 6 mages and two demigods. Now they mightn’t have a lot in common - besides all being massive psychos (yes even you Nour) and being obsessed (love just isn’t a strong enough word for the level of devotion and adoration they have for her) Nova - but when you put them all together you get a crazy story. Add in two of our favourite FMC from other books - Lorcan (Tears of the Siren) and Maya (Reborn) - and that makes this book up. I highly recommend this story, and if I’m being honest the entire universe stories are amazing. At the very least, you should read about Nova and her guys. If you love crazy, protective men then look no further. This story also has a crazy female character that is über powerful. Love Egyptian gods? Want to join Nova on her story into discovering her Egyptian heritage? This is the book.
Nova and her guys/gods do some travelling, gathering information to solve the evil plan of her father and co-conspirator. She slowly deepens the bonds with her bunch, one by one they topple like dominoes to Nova spell and some take their time to acknowledge their feelings and begin to reveal their traumatic pasts -- Nova is stronger than any of these burly males and accepts each of them even the darkest parts and embraces them fully. Camo appearances by Grey, Vegas, Maya and Lorcan. A girl's weekend would be highly amusing with this bunch!! Not that their growly males would enjoy a female free weekend. I love Nova's mad balance act -- surrounded by psycho serial murder father, an influx of power that has a mind of it's own, and a group of growly males w traumatized psyches and trust issues, god visits, unsolved childhood mystery, which killed her mother and seems to spill over and connect to current power hungry maniacs. Nova faces these challenges w a smirk, sarcastic comment, and an outfit change to tease her males, but mostly she lives life fully and embraces the chaos. Medium burn.
I know this author can craft amazing worlds, phenomenal storylines and relatable characters that almost seem to step right out of the page. That being said ... If it wasn't for the fact that this series is an integral part of the Hord world saga, I would have stopped reading this book series within the first few chapters of this book.
Nova's character is chaos - I get that, but the last I checked, chaos isn't sex driven. Sexual chemistry used to build and progress a storyline adds spice to a book but this book read more like porn than a fantasy RH book with a plot.
I am still giving it two stars (I've rarely given less than four stars to a book written by one of my favorite authors before) because in between the tasteless porn scenes, were well written sections that gave us parts of the puzzle needed to expand on what's happening in the Tears of a siren series.
Nova hasn't had a day off in forever, and when she decides to host a Halloween party, it turns out that her father's coven decided to show up. She has a lot on her plate, and seem exhausted with all what she's going through and with the nightmares of her mother being murdered repeatedly that she's trying to avoid.
Nova truly amazes me, she really is a strong female character. Despite everything that happens, she's not giving up, almost putting her health last. Her guys are truly wonderful boyfriends, protecting her and taking care of her. Everett and Cassian are still my favorite. Nour is probably the most adorable of them all, I want to hug him so bad!
I have to say I enjoy the guys' POVs so much, we learn a lot from them, about them and about their love/obsession with Nova. Love it!
I liked this book way better than the previous books in this series! One, because the tension and plot are starting to amp up. Two, the relationships between Nova and her harem are growing more. Three, in this book you are introduced to other characters from other series of Sinclair! For example, Vegas, Lorcan, and MAYA!! I love Maya and her mates! If you have read about Maya and her journey, then you know from book 3 that at the end Maya and her mates were in trouble! But in this book with Nova, Maya and Nova meet at store and shopping for Halloween costumes. Going back to Maya's book, I don't think or remember them celebrating Halloween, so I am assuming this encounter with both Nova and Maya happen AFTER the trouble Maya and her mates were in, so basically Maya and her mates make it out!!! Sorry, I just love the book with Maya and her mates!!
I like how the characters are still so psychotic, possessive, and working together as a family.
Can I just say how much I LOVE Nova! This woman is sassy, confident in her skin, and a little twisted in the best way!
This story continues to grow, with new problems to face showing up left and right. Nova and all of her men are a little broken and messed up, but together there is no denying how whole they make each other.
There is certainly never a dull moment, whether it’s saving magic and ridding the world of cruel hideous people, visiting gods, sexy times, or Nova being her crazy impulsive self.
I love these characters so much. They each bring so much depth to the story and create an overwhelming sense of curiosity in me. This story is action-packed and has me desperately wanting to know what is going to happen next. I can’t wait to see where this story goes and what secrets, hidden gems, and chaos M. Sinclair has in store for us.
Holy hell. I’ve read most of M Sinclair‘s work and I have to say this series seems waaay steamier than others! I feel like I’m the one that needs a cold shower! Like the constant sexual tension and teasing is just off the charts. But moving on...I love this series! We still don’t know a whole lot about what’s going on with her dad but each book has given us clues that will lead to something huge. There’s more to also learn about Nova and her powers. I can’t wait for the next book!
Almost as 🔥 as the previous two books, but this one has that middle book feeling. It’s a means to an end where not much happens. In fact, I’m going to skip a full review and move onto the next book.
Quick recap:
Nova has a Halloween party, then goes to find Mr. Black to see if he’s draining power from supernaturals.
My two cents:
Steamy sex scenes, but not too much happens. It was a quick read and I’m still excited to continue reading the series.
I was so excited for this next book in Nova's series. I'm a huge fan of this universe and was thrilled to see some crossovers with other series in this universe.
This book played more into setting the scene for future books and building relationships between the main characters and oh how I loved that development. It makes me look forward to the next book even more, as I expect we'll get more answers there!
We continue off right where the last book finished. This was a great book, it gave me all the things I wanted, psycho men, love, passion, massacres and just a lot of laughs too! I loved that we got more insight into the mens past as well. So excited for the next one! Ohh and loved the crossover with Maya and Lorcan! I so wanted more!! Another book well done by M. Sinclair!
Descendants is MY FAVORITE SERIES so far... I ADORE and LOVE Nova and her Sassy crazy and I love all the boys, but Ever? 😍 Ever ,Row-baby, Fox, Cass, Auggy are my Tops but Ever is just my favorite because he makes no apologies for his crazy obsession with Nova and I love me some crazy boys and Ever hits every crazy book boyfriend freak flag I've got! 💯😉 I'm reading backwards ( author binging, new author for me) I know only have Grey and Vegas to read and I'm on book three of Grey's .... That said Nova and her gents are my all time favorite, fallowed by Maya and her men, then the Queen of the Dead series and the Wronged.
I love this author and her work. This is the fourth series I have read by her and her endless ideas and unique characters never fail to amaze me. It’s so easy to get sucked into these worlds. I can’t wait for the next book to continue Nova’s story and discover more about her origins and the plot twists I know are coming! I highly suggest this series, but also literally any other book by this author as well.
38% in and really struggling to get my head around everything that’s happening here. Loved books one and two but for some reason feels like this one has lost its cohesion - bit chaotic.
Might try it again at a later date. Giving it 4 stars cause character, plot and world building have, to date, been excellent. Recommend you give it a go. Good reviews from others, sooo...
I don't love how the plot and storyline take a back seat to the sex....I mean who doesn't love the crazy sexy scenes, but it has taken on its own life and become almost the entire story to the point of nausea! Still good but the way the author writes the sex into the book makes me yawn a little....it gets so depraved I don't actually feel any intimacy....it just seems like possessive sex and that's it! Not exactly my favorite stuff to read!
I absolutely love this series! M Sinclair is an incredible author who wrote amazing stories and the Descendant series is no exception! I love Nova and her guys and the each book the characters and the story develop and the world that’s been created sucks you in. Absolutely recommend reading this series as well as others by M Sinclair I am now a massive fan forever!
Nova's inner monologue continues to amuse me. She's truly one of a kind and brings lots of LOL moments on page. I love how her story interconnects to so many of this author's other series, such as Vegas, Gray, Maya, Lorcan, and even Maize's story. It's interesting to see how they interact and connect the dots. I hope before this series is over we get a scene of a big girls night with lots of wine and girly banter!
Nova's powers are growing, and her relationship with the guys in her life continues to progress into something more and more serious. I actually love the possessiveness from all sides. They live to protect her. I also love how she intentionally teases them. The group travel from place to place (realm to realm?) to try and get more information about the draining of powers and how to stop it. Each person they meet seems to give them a new person or place to see, the God realm being next on the list here. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Book 3 of the Descendant series is full of action as Nova and her men start trying to figure out more about this power drain. There is a lot of fun dialog between the characters, which I adore. And more interaction with other series characters which add to both series. I would love to see all the MFC brought together in some special book - maybe a short holiday story? It would be hysterical to see all their men lose their minds.
This one slowed down a little. I love that Nova is settling in to get full personality and being her whole self. I enjoy seeing the boys working together and who is usually paired off. The trip at the end felt like it went way too fast before it was over. Too much time on the party and not enough on the substance of the overall story. Still fun to read and worth it, but I'm looking forward to the next installment
Hopefully its a typo and this isn't completed. I started with this series then went beck and read mascues and vengeance series, so I was really pretty impacient. Gladly waited though and really enjoyed this. I've loved all M Sinclair books that I've read so far. Can't wait to read more. JL
