Betrayal shakes the colony, and test's Ella's leadership--and her love.
Ella never wanted to be the Empress of the colony, but the Moon Goddess Selene had other ideas.
With the disappearance of the current Empress, all eyes are on Ella, some more suspicious than others. As tension mounts between her rival toms, one of them reveals a deadly secret that could change everything.
I have to say I’m so disappointed in this book. The first three were really good, but after Bishop, Ella’a mate (and his family) tries to kill her and her baby she forgives him? I can’t even tell if he ever had real feeling for her or not since he planned to “sacrifice” her from the beginning. I’m totally stumped on this. What a disappointing final book!
I tried. Book 1 was a tentative introduction; by Book 2, I thought “Okay, I can chill with this a bit”; Book 3 lost me on the first safe stop I could get off on and then we were here.
I am frustrated, disappointed, flabbergasted… just lost. There was no closure, no explanations, suddenly Elle had a memory that meant nothing in the greater scheme of things, no development, no growth, no real remorse or explanation or anything that justified forgiveness of an act that was much more than just someone cheating or buying the wrong flavor of ice cream.
Elle is like a bobble head just watching her life happen around her, doing what she’s told – no spine, still no desire to ask questions or stand up for herself or to be a grown up or something – I don’t know, be something like… maybe a leader? They keep talking about how strong and brave and some stuff she is, but I don’t see it at all. I can’t anymore with her.
I wanted so much for this series and now I’m left with having read it and feeling no more satisfied or complete or settled than I did with the first book. That’s a lot of reading of a couple of short books to get nowhere. This had potential that it did not live up to and it did not have to be 4 books.
I liked this series, which is why I am so annoyed at all the plot issues that stop it from going from “good” to “great”. No matter how much I enjoyed the characters and writing, there is really no way to describe the resolution of the final conflict as anything else but “lackluster.” After three books on how awful and taboo the issue of ferals is, shifter society sure was accepting of their teen-pregnant stray housecat Empress being one.
Four books later and I am still not clear on just what an Empress actually does. What happened to ? What of
What of the prophecy? What of ? I’m going to go ahead and guess that shifter society should have an easy enough time identifying them now that she knows where they died. Why did no one, at any point, even suggest they look that stuff up? I am happy Ella and her guys got their happily-ever-after, but I have so many questions regarding… everything else, I can’t help but be disappointed at the lack of any answers. At this point, my hopes lie on a spin-off.
Still, like I said, I enjoyed the series very much. It was the kind of reading experience that made me drop all other forms of entertainment in order to find out what happens next as soon as possible. The writing was good (if hole-y), the characters entertaining, and the various twists surprising – the biggest one being Axel becoming my favorite character, given my visceral hate for the guy during the first two books. So all in all, the good outweighs the bad so much that I can honestly say I will be happily checking other books by the author, with the hope that future works see more time put into them in order to properly attend to the world outside the romantic relationship of the protagonists. Those may be the main reason why most of us read RH books, but I know this author has it in her to do as much justice to the plot as she does to the romance, and I will keep my eyes peeled for that moment.
Edited to add: I’ve had a few more days to think about this, and here’s a few more details I wish the series handled better:
- The bullying. I can buy Marissa being a vengeful idiot powered by a lifelong sense of entitlement being followed by a gang of sycophants. But what about the rest of the school? These are rich kids, and if there’s anything the wealthy recognize is the power of networking. Something about the easy way they fall into bullying the literal moon-chosen princess of their society simply doesn’t click with me. Emily’s reaction was more believable. As it is, Avery is the only person in that entire school that should not be in Empress Ella’s shit list.
This was a great series! This was my first attempt reading a River Ramsey book but after enjoying this like I have I definitely plan to read more from her.
🌠🌠ONE EXPLOSIVE FINALE 🌠🌠 Spectacular! River hit the jackpot full tilt with this thrilling debacle, laying out one razors edge, action packed, hard hitting, nail-biting, nerve racking, block buster, raising the stakes and keeping it real, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Bound, wound and tightly banded, exposing the thrilling quirks and defying bents, molding our characters in ways they could never have envisioned. Trudging through a minefield of deadly peril, chilling danger, unthinkable betrayal and unnerving suspense, maneuvering through the devilry manipulations of dastardly deeds and malicious intent, kicking ass and dispatching foes, propelling this baby to life flawlessly. The raw magnetism, undeniable attraction and sizzling chemistry collides with such intensity, drawing you deeper until you feel the electrifying hum running rampant through your veins. The complexity of the characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits adding depth and diversity, transform into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels like you can just reach out and touch it. Remarkable job River, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
I have sat on writing a review for a few days now trying to consolidate how I feel about this series. I like the storyline, i thought it was fantastic when I read the blurb.
Queen is the finale of the Cats of Felidae series and I must say it is quite fast paced and as we know a fantasy/supernatural RH.
I couldn’t give more than a 3 star rating because there were things about this story that I couldn’t fathom..., yes I know this is fiction but even I think there are parts that defy nature. Without divulging too much here are what makes this conflicting to me: - the betrayal portrayed in this book was unforgivable however that’s exactly what happens - the climax in this story happens quite early in the book, which meant the rest of the story felt like an extended epilogue or someone pressing fast forward to the more important scenes - my biggest question was what happen to the Goddess after the ritual the book doesn’t really reveal what her purpose was and whether or not she fulfilled her purpose (unless there is mean to be another book in this universe)
Spoiler! I really didn't see that coming. It rarely happens for me to not be able to get an even small inkling on who is the bad guy. And this whole cult thing came out suddenly... I mean Felidae house/society was suspicious as hell, but I though it was just men doing they typical bs and trying to take away the power from matriarchal community. But to go all the way to stand against Godess and their whole beliefs.
I'm also on the fence with Bishop's betrayal I mean this is RH we all want happy endings, but what he did was HUGE. Though he did grovelling and I'm guessing he will be doing it for many years to come...
There was kinda one inconsistency in this series though. Tom is supposed to describe young unmated feline, but till the end Ella's guys are described as 'tom'. So is this also just a description of young male in general?
There has been so much build up to this book that I was eager to find out what was all going on behind the scenes. What was the prophecy? who kidnapped Natalia? What does this all mean for Ella?
We learn the answers to these questions and more as the story draws to a close. I enjoyed the stories in this series and felt the ending was satisfying. With all the build up, I personally would have loved to get to see Ella enjoy her happiness more before the story ends. We do get a great glimpse into what her life will be like.
I loved how Ella finds her own strength and seeing how her relationships have developed with her mates.
This is a series I would read again.
I received an advanced copy of this story for an honest review.
On Ella’s road to happily ever after there have been quite a few speed bumps along the way. This book is no exception. Just when you think she’s finally getting the happiness she deserves a shocking betrayal turns Ella’s world upside down. Can her mates save her, her baby and the future of not only their family but the colony as well? You'll have to read to find out. A wonderful read. Lots of twists and turns and happily steamy scenes with the mates. Romance, betrayal, action, drama and forgiveness. What more could you ask for? I absolutely love this series! I received an ARC from the author. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
Loved the finale to the series. Ella has a lot to deal with. She had been declared the next Empress, which made few people happy including her. She found her mates, but one of them is missing, one of them is off-limits, and the third one drives her crazy. She is pregnant and trying to attend school and learn her future duties. The current empress has disappeared and her own coronation has been moved up because of it. Oh, and she is a feral with no idea exactly what that means and no one seems inclined to enlighten her. What else could go wrong? Plenty.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Empress Natalia is still missing…that means Ella will have to be crowned Empress in short. Ella is still in love with all three men…two her mates…and one who is her teacher. Bishop will finally return, but he is different…aloof; somewhat cold. The two other toms do not trust him still. When Ella becomes Empress, a deep betrayal will set everyone on their heads…it will be multiple people. Ella will finally live up to her true nature…only somewhat! Who will come to the rescue? Will she ever be able to trust again? Will Sterling ever officially become her mate? Will she have a boy or girl? I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
This book makes up for the questions left hanging in the last book. Ella has grown so much in this series and become a strong woman. She has always been compassionate and humble, but with Axel and Sterling at her side she has become so much more. The betrayal and kidnapping aside, she has not given up. I love how much Axel has changed while staying the same. He has always said what he feels and thinks with no doubt he was being truthful (if you like it or not). Sterling has always been my favorite, but Axel really grew on me during the series. Bishop disappointed me, but maybe he can redeem himself. Such a good ending.
I thoroughly enjoyed this final book as it brought everything together and gave us that happy ending. I gave it 4 stars only because I felt there was still questions that haven't been addressed and in a way I feel that the story, although complete, still needs more. That being said, it was still a fantastic read with lots of action and romance. The story telling and plot points were fantastic and the characters were well planned out and I loved the growth that they has within this final book. I would love to see more, maybe a spin off? But all in all, I enjoyed reading this series and happy with how the story played out!
This review covers all 4 books. My most honest opinion is what in the Sam Hill are we teaching young women about self-respect & worth these days? Spoiler Alert: she ends up 18, pregnant, still in HS, Empress of some supes, the (throw up in my mouth) inappropriate teacher, the jerk who bullied & abused her for yrs who also treated his anticipated queen & mate like yesterdays trash when she isn’t promoted, & the liar who up until the very end of 4 books planned on killing her, first, & then her baby. I give up.
This was definitely a thrilling conclusion to The Felidae Academy series! There was so much, surprise, betrayal, attempted murder first of her baby, then her, Redemption and forgiveness. Ell went through the gambit and came out a true Empress! I'm happy that she formally mated Sterling, he so deserved it! He really deserved her biting him too ,that's the ONLY THING I was disappointed in this book! He deserved that bite like her other two males got from her!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Yeah. Not sure what I think of this final installment. I feel like it was a bit truncated Spoilers... . . . . . . . . . .
I'm appalled at her taking him back. I'm all down for a bit of a bully romance and that's why I'm ok with Axel, but yeah. What the hell. Since that's what happened I think there needed to be quite a bit more relationship/character development for that to happen. I feel in general that this book was rushed.
This is book four and the conclusion of Cats of Felidae Academy Series. This book has aspects of a Cinderella remake, enemies to lovers, and reverse harem all incorporated into this story. Ella, who was considered a stray had a difficult beginning, but shines brightly when the moon selects her to be the next empress. Lots of inner battles, lies, and deception to keep it interesting. Good read! I received this as an ARC and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Love this ending to the series. It was definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Some big twists will leave you stunned. But Ella is always fantastic. She is an amazing character and add in her toms and anything is possible. Life hasn’t been easy for her. She has felt loved and betrayed. Those she thought she could trust and those she never trusted may make some changes to how she sees them. Secrets will be revealed with surprises.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This book is not a fairytale even if its based on one so in order for Ella (FMC) to get her HEA she definitely has to go through her fair share of traitorous folks and some more closer to home. A coronation, a baby, plot twists and plenty of tension as well as sexual one. Some steamy ones too! Just a great read from beginning to end
OMG! I love Ella! “Queen” is the conclusion of the “Cats of Felidae Academy” series and is shocking, suspenseful, intense, action-packed, and as dramatic as expected. The betrayal that Ella and her mates endure is totally twisted. I loved this unexpectedly exciting conclusion that fans of the Felidae Academy series will appreciate. Five Stars is just not enough for this perfect ending!
Fabulous way to wrap up a series. This last installment was def. full of twists, turns, action, betrayal, love, anger, annoyance, ha you name it it was there! I still want to throttle a character or 2 even in this book. This mc was a favorite of mine from the beginning. I am happy with the ending of this series. Great read!!!
Oh my gawd I literally threw my tablet while reading this! Holy crap y'all this book! Like I totally loved it but I didn't calm down till the end because soooooomeone was a douche canoe the whole freaking time! Gaaawwww! Whyyyyy why do I love this series so much whyyyyyy! River why you gotta do me dirty like this girl!
Loved this series and sad to see it end! You got answers to questions you wanted to know but also left you with some which is a bummer but ok. The only thing I’m not sure I’m happy about is the Bishop thing.. I enjoyed every page/ pages of these books! It would be great to get a spin off these books I would like to read more about the characters !!
The timeline continues to be off and there are so many loose ends and unanswered questions it's ridiculous. It was nice to see the progression of Axel and Ella's characters but it would have been good to see Sterling more although he was in this book more than the other. The less said about Bishop the better.
I really don’t know what to say about this series….. the only one that deserved her was sterling. Seriously bishop tried to kill her and her baby, Axel in his own words hated her wanted to break her and tormented her, her whole life. Don’t get me wrong I love bully romance and enemy to lover but it was such a fast flip, with know really earning her forgiveness.
Beware this series is hot, it’s not only the feral Ella who has heat. It takes you on a journey who would become Empress. Looked forward to each book in the series, never disappointed.
This was a decent ending to the series. I feel like all the plot holes were closed and I enjoyed the growth of the characters. Axel went from my least favorite to my favorite by the end of the series. Not my favorite book in the series, but I'm satisfied with how things were wrapped up.
Awesome series of books! Fantastic conclusion to the series and despite the trouble they find themselves in, it is a satisfying ending. Well written and worth every minute spent reading it!!
