Jennifer loves reading and writing clean romance. She believes that happily ever after is not just for stories. Jennifer enjoys interior design, rollerblading, clogging, jogging, and chocolate. In Jennifer’s opinion there are few ills that can’t be solved with a warm brownie and scoop of vanilla-bean ice cream. Jennifer grew up in rural Alabama and loved living in a town where “everybody knows everybody.” Her love for writing began as a young teenager when she wrote stories for her high school English teacher to critique. Jennifer has a BA in English and Social Sciences from Brigham Young University Hawaii where she served as Miss BYU Hawaii. Before becoming an author, she worked as the owner and editor of a monthly newspaper named The Senior Times. She now lives in the Rocky Mountains with her family and spends her time writing and doing all of the wonderful things that make up the life of a busy wife and mother.
The "One Big Mistake" in this novel was a big win for Ramsey Romeo. I really liked his character and the honor and integrity he showed. This was actually the first book of the Romeo family that I have read and it won't be the last. I was able to follow along well and even though I knew there was a back story to some of the characters and that I was missing something from there story, I was able to keep up and enjoy this book.
I love the Romeo family and it was fun to read about Ramsey. I love how the story started out with a bang, full of suspense and intrigue, but Hartley, the love interest, wasn't my most favorite character. She's harsh, blunt, tough, and kind of rubbed me wrong, as she's so opposite from me. There doesn't seem to be much softness to her and I wondered what these brothers saw in her, but of course, as the book progressed and her backstory unfolded, I became more tolerant towards her and accepted her into the clan.
The end pieces of this book were what really glued this story together, as the middle was a tad bit muddy, but I was slightly on edge, waiting for the ball to drop and the climax of the plot to appear, and it was worth every minute. This author does a great job of engaging the reader with the gripping suspense.
Content: mild romance; mild moments of violence/danger/death

I find that, lately, this author’s stories start off and end really strong, but the middle is just so-so for me. I couldn’t stand the female character in this one. I’m sure the author intended for her to come across as strong and sassy, but I just thought she was rude and arrogant. I’m rating it 3 stars because it’s a clean romance, it is well edited, and I really liked the beginning. However, it wasn’t really for me.
[This is book 5 in the Romeo Family series, but the author makes everything clear, so it's not necessary to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.]
Ramsey & Hartley have a fairly short but pretty volatile acquaintance. Hartley is tough, but she has some vulnerable spots. Ramsey can relate to that. They finally begin to explore the possibility of a relationship together, but someone has begun stalking & threatening Hartley.
The story is pretty entertaining. There's a bit of stereotyping & the plot is predictable in the main (& the dialogue was surprisingly old-fashioned in spots), but the characters are likeable, the author managed to throw several surprise twists in the resolution, and I always enjoy stories with strong family bonds!
*Clean romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic; there's a scene with implied menace & the possibility of rape - it's not bad, but might be a problem for people who have PTSD or are otherwise sensitive
I like all of Jennifer Young poor's books, and this was no exception. The Romeo family books are truly a series, so when one book ends, I don't have to say goodbye to the characters I've gotten very fond of, as the family's saga continues in the next book, just down a slightly different path. BUT ... The cover of this book almost made me give up on the series because the man depicted CANNOT POSSIBLY BE RAMSEY ROMEO! Ramsey has "arresting gray eyes, lean strong jaw, stylish haircut that was longer on top, giving him a sexy, tousled look," and I'm guessing he's fairly tall and muscular, but the guy on the cover isn't much bigger than the girl he's holding, and he's notably unremarkable looking, absolutely nothing like he's described in the book. It was terribly disturbing and hard to ignore, because the cover kept popping up on.my Kindle screen, but I managed to get past it and enjoy the book. Now it's off to the next one, a saga about Jaxson ... .
So I wasn’t on what you would call Team Hartley. She was a little too brash and forward for me. I did like Ramsey’s ‘superman’ character a lot. What made me really enjoy the book despite my reservations for the heroine was that it is a real page turner. I mean edge of the seat, not knowing where the story would go page turner. There were several different outcomes and it was really thrilling to read the story. Granted when I say thrilling I mean it in a clean action kind of way. Suspense and plot moving quickly along, drawing you in. I did love the ending too. So, love story was a little too fast and strong but the main suspense of the book made it all work. Rating: PG to PG-13, clean but talks about some sensitive topics like alcoholism, mild violence, kidnapping, manslaughter, etc.
This is the 5th installment of the Romeo Family Romances. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and offer my review. The narration is well done and you are able to easily decipher which characters are being depicted.
Hartley was a famous singer who had a little bit of a checkered past. She also had history with one of the Romeo brothers. She meets Ramsey Romeo and is smitten. He is handsome and a former Navy Seal who is very protective. Their romance moves along pretty quickly and when Hartley finds herself in danger and they don't know where the danger is coming from, Ramsey is determined to protect her at all costs.
This story is a sweet, clean, quick read with a happy ending and a teaser for the next book in the series about Jackson, another one of the Romeo brothers.
Ramsey is in college until something happens, and he joins the Navy and becomes a SEAL. What could have happened to make him completely change his life course? After leaving the military, he works for Sutton as a private investigator. Only now, his brother Cah needs him to head up his security team to not only protect him and his partner Ava but all of the people who work with him, including Hartley. Hartley, the one who he really wants to get to know better. Only there's the bro code. Will Cash give him the go-ahead to date her now that he has Ava? Only the first day on the job and Hartley gets not one but two threats. Who is behind them? Will Ramsey be able to save her? Will they get to discover if they can be together? Only one way to find out is to read this great story by Jennifer Youngblood.
If Ramsey acts on his attraction to country singer Hartley, it would be breaking the bro code. Years ago, Hartley had previously dated Cash and she had broken his heart. When his brother Cash offers him a job as head of the security for the tour and his blessings to date Hartley, Ramsey is all in. Hartley soon starts receiving threats and is being stalked. I received a free copy of this ebook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I love the relationship between Ramsey and Hartley. It's great to have a clean romance that still has a sizzling attraction. I love that Hartley's life has not always been smooth and that she is not afraid to go after what she wants. I also love Ramsey's steadfastness. This is an excellent romantic suspense book.
Hartley is a country music star with a checkered past. She went through rehab for her alcoholism, and she's been clean for years. Ramsey Romeo is a member of Sutton Smith's security force, but he's also the brother of Cash Romeo, an extremely successful country music star with a wonderful co-star Ava. Cash asks Ramsey to be head of his security force now that Hartley has had threats. Hartley and Ramsey have the heat of romance, as well as clashes of two strong people. Jennifer Youngblood has the deft hand of a good romance writer with a side of intrigue.
This book is the fifth in the Romeo Family Romance Book series. It had been a while since I read the other books in the series and I had forgotten some of the characters so I felt a little lost at times during the book. However, the Romeo family is filled with great characters. Ramsey is a strong ex-Navy Seal. He has had a long time crush on his younger brother's (Cash) ex girlfriend Hartley. Hartley is a famous singer with a stalker. She is on tour with Cash and his new girlfriend, Ava. Ramsey is hired to oversee security for their music tour. Well written with lots of suspense and a cliff hanger for the next book in the series.
At first when I picked up this book, I wasn't to keen on Hartley's character...mostly due to Cash & Ava's story! However, the more I read of Ramsey & Hartley's story...the more I liked Hartley's character! This book is divine, as all of Jennifer Youngblood's books are! Jennifer's plots are riveting, funny, and suspenseful. I became a reader of Jennifer Youngblood's stories after I read a collaboration by Jennifer's & Cami Checketts. I highly recommend her books...they are good Christian reads. Check out Jennifer's books...as well as Cami Checketts books! Kudos ladies! Happy Reading!
Hartley and Ramsey are an unlikely pair. After all Hartley broke his brothers heart years ago. But the attraction between them is off the charts. Then Ramsey becomes head of security for his brother's band and Hartley. His brother and girlfriend are fine with Ramsey dating Hartley, too bad the rest of the family don't feel the same. When danger stalks Hartley, Ramsey is is baffled. Two possible suspects, one anticlamactic ending and the romance make this book very exciting and a page turner. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Hartley is a big Country Singer with a troubled past. She's been crushing on Ramsey Romero for a long time. He made a mistake while trying to be a hero that just might cost him his life. What will happen if he breaks the "bro code" and pursues his brother's ex? Could they even have a future together? Find out in this incredible story of second chances, forgiveness, fire and ice, intense action, heroes and villains. I highly recommend it! Happy Reading!
I'd say more of a 4.5 really. I truly enjoyed this and I'm so glad Hartley has a great love story. I love that Ramsey calls her his porcupine on fire I completely relate to this description. I love that she has red hair and a temper to go with it. I love that she stands up and holds on to herself even in a dangerous situation. The one thing I didn't like is the cliff hanger for the next one. WHAT!!!! Plus I have to wait for it. UGH!
Is this family. I am reading all the books and enjoying all the characters and their storyline. This one is about Ramsey, one of my favorite heros. I like Hartley, too. They both have issues in their lives that they regret but they are strong and committed to this journey they are on. They want make this connection work. I am glad to be part of their journey.
I loved seeing how Hartley conquered the demons of her past. Ramsey with his "Superman" persona seems to know just how to handle Hartley, even if he is not always sure that he is on the right track. This is an action-packed story that brings back much-loved characters from past books in this series. Ramsey seems to be just about perfect in every way. Looking forward to the stories of the other Romeo brothers!
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my honest and voluntary opinion. Ramsey Romeo, former Navy Seal is asked by brother Cash to head up security for his singing tour which includes Hartley Raines to whom he’s attracted. When threats on her life begin, he has to figure out what’s going on. An interesting book in this series by Jennifer Youngblood, which includes themes of love, forgiveness and alcoholism.
Hartley has a fiery personality and Ramsey typically shows great control. They make a great pair. I was surprised when I read the proposal. Jennifer Youngblood has done a great job with characterization. I want to be friends with this couple. And the story is full of fun, surprises, and a bit of terror.
A series one loves to read. In this we have Ramsey, an ex Seal, the motto of Honor and Integrity he lives by. Hartley was different, stiff, hard to like how would she fit in, with this loving family. Being a country music star she was loved by followers . Even Ramsey questions why he is drawn to her, when he plans his life step by step. Intriguing suspense with added touch of romance.
This was another big hit by Jennifer Youngblood. I love all of her books. She has romance, suspense and they're clean!! I loved the twist as to who was behind it all. Keeps you guessing. Thanks for a great read!! I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is definitely a refreshing and change of pace romance with a lot of twists and turns as they journey towards unconditional love and understanding as family.
Ramsey felt a pull towards Hartley. But that would be breaking the bro- code since she is his brothers ex. Hartley has had a crush on Ramsey for years. Great book. I love this series.
Rating 3.5. I was a little skeptical about whether I would like a story featuring Hartley. However, I “need” to follow the Romeo family! Haha! So I read this. It was nice. Hartley didn’t bug me much at all.
Hartley & Ramsey have a rocky relationship. There is Hartley's dysfunctional father, her past drinking lifestyle, being in the entertainment industry. Then the mystery of who wants to hurt her. That makes for a surprise ending. I like stories that have a mystery to them.
Unlike most reviewers, I was unimpressed. The heroine was a whiny bint. The hero, lackluster. The plot was so predictable, including what other reviewers said was a huge shock to them...
There was no suspense, the romance was less than hohum.
Family drama. Mystery. Intrigue. Dueling plot lines. On you toes the whole books. Another great read by Jennifer. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
I purchased a copy of One Big Mistake by Jennifer Youngblood and this review was given freely. Sinister and bittersweet. This story of revenge and alcoholism contains a love story between two vivid character, but the ending is bittersweet.
Unbelievable. This is too much. A long lasting longing in her heart and an unmistakable drawing in his. Along with murder, mayhem, kidnapping and attempted murder. Ramsey and Hartley have an explosive story.
