"The risks of getting it wrong far outweigh the benefits."
For someone who is always scared of everything going wrong and loves to be prepared, this was a solid guide. I learned a lot, and just retook a CPR certification course, so I felt like I read this at just the right time. I'd prefer not to have to eat rats or build a shelter in the tundra, but I feel better about thinking about having to do those things now...I guess.
Very informative. Some of the sea survival stuff felt a bit more specialized than a normal person would encounter (specifically the survival suits) and some of the information targeting game (how to set traps, how to gut and prepare game) felt a bit too simpilized for a person like me (who has never hunted or even fished), but there was a lot of information that I felt like I would at least have a good guide if I ever found myself in a situation where I would need it. I picked up this book because I flipped to the page about how to set fractures and instantly thought of how useful this book would be in terms of writing; it'll go on my writing/information shelf most likely. If not, it may hang out in the emergency preparedness pile/easily accessible when it comes to camping trips and such.
This book unlike most of the others in this genre is “idiot proof”. Thanks to its, extremely graphical representation. from gutting a large mammal to tending a compound fracture with minimum to no resource
Terrific. It's got very nice, easy on the eyes illustrations. Detailed information, a good step up from the classic "SAS Survival Handbook" by J. Wiseman. Good for anyone interested in the outdoors.
I don’t read survival books so I can’t rank this from others but incredibly informative and useful. I learned so so much and feel as if in an emergency I know endless amount of ways to get myself back to a safe environment. Highly recommend
