Not great. I thought with the title there would be a school for learning magic. There was a school but maybe only 5% of the story had any kind of magical learning. The point of view shifted often, sometime during the middle of a paragraph so I had a hard time keeping track. There wasn't much dialogue between the characters which made getting to know them difficult. I couldn't understand the main characters purpose in the story. I could understand him wanting to learn magic, because yeah, who wouldn't. What was he learning it for? What was he going to do with it?
The story was good. I enjoyed watching the MC stumble from one place to another. He was not OP but did get some spells that have the potential to make him so.
Will admit that it could have been a smoother read but wasn't bad either. It had one instance where the author wrote "u" instead of you, but we can blame social media and texting for giving people bad form.
The story is about a medical student who is transported into another world, more specifically into another person's body in this case a young man on the way to a magical school. Right off the bat he relizes that he has access to the "system" . This is a big cheat as it helps him learn things immediately, gives his stats, assessments, and the typical other things you see in this genre. This gives him a big advantage since he is the only one so far who has it.
As for the rest of the story it involves him making enemy's, childish rivalry, learning, fighting, exploring and making friends. All and all a good story in the making and one I hope to continue.
I gave this 5 stars to show support, because I liked it and since I plan on reading the next installment(s). Due to errors in writing and so on it's probably anywhere from 3.5 - 4 stars. I did read this on KU as well since I wasn't sure about this book when I saw it. Although was worth reading whether purchased or not.
A decent book on reincarnation and the adjustment to a new world. My review goes to 3 stars simply as the bones of a good story are here. The problem you may notice is that at times the characters seem shallow or 2D the further in you get. I was especially upset at the all but lacking development on the friends as they had potential to be great but fell off into background of maybe one or two liners. They started off interesting, introduced potential and some backstory but then nothing else really happens... Same can be said of character development on MC and the what at first seems a shallow magic system. Towards the end he does get an ability that would mean he could diversify but it's treated with a simple shrug it felt like.
Overall a decent story in the making and I hope the author continues to improve his skills in the next book of the series!
The mc is as bipolar as the story. He cant talk to people but will yell at them. Laughs at enemies but then cries that he killed them. Pick an emotion and stick eith it. Storywise the book is almost grimdark. 20 bad things happen to the mc for no reason. Lets go into a dungon to be sent to another continent, then days later tzken back? This only was written to give the reder angst as the mc didnt care. Lets make the mc the weakest stident only to give him a potion and make him op later. I guess i would read the second book. There was just alot of grimdark drama for zero reason.
I tried to like this but it didn’t do it for me. The plot doesn’t resolve anything; it just sort of stops. The characters aren’t very interesting.
The writing is a bit odd, it is hard to separate first person internal dialog from conversations with the game system from third person observations about motives and intentions.
This is a pretty quick read and the pacing is more than quick enough to keep the story moving.
I see there is a sequel, I haven’t decided if I will read it.
The MC is reborn in another persons body in a world full of magic. Additionally to the former persons memories he has a "game system" that gives him stats and quests and allows him to grow very fast. He is on the way to a magic academy and gets to be the protege of one of the Teachers. Soon he discovers a magic book and that gets new magic as well as makes him the enemy of a evil group of people that wanted this book instead. The MC has it too easy for my taste. He is not really struggling anywhere and just gets too mighty too fast. Nevertheless I think i will follow the story.
The beginning of this book is horribly stilted I rarely leave off a book before finishing but this one just couldn’t be done. The way the mc jumps into limiting all other forms of magic after being in a new realm for less than a day makes no sense narratively and is such a glaring plot contrivance that it killed what little desire to know more about the world the slapdash spread of world building had instilled.
This is a great story. The main character has the potential to grow (well it's actually part of the story!) into a strong advisory. Whether for good or evil is yet to be determined, but I'll assume that the character wins out for good in the end lol. This is a first novel, and yeah it shows. There are inconsistencies in storyline, character development, and in the quality of the writing. But I'm intrigued and want to know where the story takes us in the future.
This was a good first installment. The book moved doing pretty well, but there are times where it feels a bit hand waving away a problem. Like all of the students here the solution. Almost like things don't get a chance to develop, and all of the sudden problem solved on to the next thing. But there promise in the story. Decent world building, and the characters are coming along. I hope they grow into themselves in the coming stories.
I gave three stars for several reasons. One the story didn't flow, it clunked along. Characters felt shallow. Quite a few editing errors. Plot devices were simplistic and story was just ok writing. Felt rushed and not polished.
Overall just ok. Not something I would read again.
The story was good at the beginning but became confusing the more I read!!For a beginner writer it was ok but it needs a lot of work to become a good book. suggest to the writer that he reads some books to find out how a book should flow.!! I'm just a reader so what do I know
I was initially hesitant about this book because of how short it was. The length of the book was actually a good thing. It made the story pacing keep things interesting from beginning to end. If you like cultivation novels, Magic, and litrpg. This is a great read.
There is a lot here but it just feels discombobulated. There is a potentially great story mixed in with all the incoherence but it just doesn’t come through. This feels like the author took what he liked from other cultivation novels and other fantasy tropes and threw them together without much planning and explanation.
Decent book for a start, the book is a little short and sometimes it feels a little "simplified ", I guess that's my word for it, so needs a little filling out. Anyway I want to read the next book and see where the story goes.
Poorly written. Very simple and clumsy in progressing the story. MC is OP but I can normally accept that. Scenes just roll into each other with no clear break. I was not able to get 20% into the book before I abandoned it.
It was good, pacing was a bit weird, and the emotional beats didn’t really resonate with me, but the world is interesting and there is a lot of potential in it for interesting things to happen. I look forward to reading more of the series.
The fight seen at the end was written so badly that at points in time it was hard to follow what happened. The entire story felt like you were reading in fast forward instead of in real time. I thought the litrpg elements while few were tastefully done.
