Instead of recruiting externally to fill skill gaps, companies should learn to recognize and leverage the talent they have within.
Six core principles underpin the Inside Gig talent model which helps organizations use existing talent more effectively.
Principle one: Sharing talent across departmental boundaries creates a win-win for managers.
Principle two: Leaders benefit from taking stock of the talent within their organization.
Principle three: Make learning part of the company culture to match the pace of technological advances.
Principle four: Use technology to help move people swiftly to areas where their skills have the most impact.
Principle five: Set up the organization in a way that facilitates a quick response to change.
Principle six: Remove barriers to cross-functional work.
Start implementing a new talent platform by assessing to what extent your company needs to change.

This took me an age to finish.

In my opinion, the first half of the book was better when it was addressing the core principles. I got to think critically whether it applied to my company.

After that, it got a bit dry for me when they were talking about how to implement it. Perhaps because it became a little less relatable.
