I've lost my happily ever after...

My story was supposed to be over. We were supposed to grow old together in each other's arms and watch our tiny son become a man with a life of his own.

The Zmaj, seven foot tall winged and scaled dragon warriors, are getting sick. It's stealing their memories and making them regress into primal barbarians, losing themselves completely. There isn't a cure, there isn't any hope, and my Shidan is showing the first signs.

But I'm used to fighting. I was the only female pilot back on the ship and I had to fight every day for that. I'm certainly not going to lose the love of my life without doing something about it. I'm going to beat this disease. Shidan saved me, now it's my turn to save him.

Dragon's Isolation revisits the couple Amara and Shidan from Tajss #3 Dragon's Love, but now we catch up with them (and the other survivors) as their happily ever afters are put into jeopardy. There is plenty of action, suspense, steam and an exploration of how love prevails even in times of great hardships, such as those we are currently facing in our world.

I have no opinion. DNF only because of the topic. My brain cannot handle even a fictional version of this situation. I will continue on with the next book.

This is a good addition to the series, but Amara has always been really hard for me to like. She was really hard on Shidan in the book where they first got together, and she has always been really snarky and bit*** to everyone. I liked her better in this story, since she obviously loves Shidan and their son now, but she is still often really mean to everyone else.

I liked Shidan from their first book, and I still really liked him in this one. He is a wonderful mate for Amara, and puts up with her bit*** attitude -- and he is a fantastic father to Malcom. It was sad to see him so badly affected by the virus, but it was sweet that he tried so hard to not lose his memories of Amara and Malcom.

I did like how Amara was willing to do anything to cure Shidan, even if it meant risking her own life. I also liked that her friends were willing to help her, even though she was often mean to them -- they were such loyal friends!

I am fascinated with little Malcom's abilities. I hope the series will continue to explore that further in upcoming books. I am curious to see what happens next in this series, and look forward to the next book.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Emotional storyline ripped from today’s current headlines - Highly recommend this entire series!

This PNR features couples and characters from previous stories in the series. While I suppose someone could stumble through the story as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers.

There are a few grammatical issues, mainly an incorrect word choice (I.e. than vs then, to vs too), but nothing really egregious or difficult to interpret the author’s intent.

I don’t know if it is due to what is going on around the world, but this story was very emotional for me. I found myself having to stop several times despite wanting to continue, as no one wants to bawl their eyes out while trying to read. 😭 I am going with the quality of the story and how I would feel if it was my husband experiencing those symptoms. No shame in shedding a tear or two when the author can grab your emotions and immerse you into a story ... 💕

Here is a high-level overview:

There is a virus spreading on Tajss and the Zmaj warriors are finding themselves surrendering to their bijass. Strangely enough, the humans and their children seem to be immune to the symptoms which include a fever and memory loss.

It started with Ladon, and when another started experiencing something similar, Lady Rosalind put the city of lockdown. Unfortunately Shidan was still exposed somehow and started having memory loss. Amara refused to let her family, or others, go without a fight. She is determined to do what is necessary to help Addison find a cure and rescue her man for once.

I don’t want to accidentally provide any spoilers so I am going to stop here.

A tale on a far off planet, that tackles very current/modern concerns...

This series has previously taken on racism, and in this installment, it tackles both social-distancing and quarantining as well as an ailment that bears a striking resemblance to Alzheimer's, and through it all a truly beautiful love story is told, perhaps because it centers on Shidan and Amara, a couple from a previous story. Characters who have recurred throughout the series, and are raising Malcolm, a child who steals almost every scene he is in.

For me, having read the series as it comes out, this was a solid stand-alone done in one quick read... but I say that acknowledging that the backstory from when Shidan and Amara first met in Dragon's Love: A SciFi Alien Romance (Red Planet Dragons of Tajss Book 3) added depth to this story for me and that I positively adore their son Malcolm, who has a connection to the planet Tajss, and speaks with a knowledge beyond his years, that seems to come from the planet itself at times.

This story picks up on the heels of the previous one and moves the overarching arc forward, so it is not an entry point for new readers, but if you have missed a story or two, it does a great job of offering memory jogs and giving the information needed to bring you back into the Universe, where life on a desert planet is rough going for humans raised on a generation ship, and the Dragon men/Aliens who they have encountered are coming out of a deep well of grief and loss after their planet was nearly destroyed.

The wonderful loving Zmaj, seven foot tall winged and scaled dragon warriors who have found love and happiness with their human women, are getting sick. Whatever it is steals their memories and regresses them back to primal barbarians. There is no known cure, unless the females can find one, and now Shidan, Amara’s mate, is showing the first signs of the sickness.

All the love that these couples have worked so hard for will be wiped out if the Zmaj lose their memories. Their children will not have the benefit of being raised by the strong, loving males in their lives. With her heart breaking, Amara is determined to beat this disease, to find a way to save Shidan, for herself and for Malcolm, their son. Can she do it? Will the other women join her? And will they find something in time before the problem is irreversible?

This was very powerful. I have loved these Zmaj characters from the start, through the many books telling their stories. Every single one is a treasure. To see any of them harmed or changed from the strong, loving characters we knew, is heartbreaking! Grab your copy and see what can be done to save them!

I love this series of stories! Even after so many books, the stories remain unique, entertaining, action-packed, sexy and full of emotion. The world building in this series is some of the best I have ever read. You can easily imagine the red hot sands, the dry blistering heat, and the beautiful but barren landscape.
I thought it was great to revisit a couple from an earlier book. Although we often see these recurring characters throughout the series, it was great to see how life was evolving for everyone. This story is fraught with emotion, love, danger and a good example of a community working together for the greater good of the people.

Downloaded for free from BookSprout. I have volunteered to give my honest opinion and receive no compensation for my review. Since I rely heavily on reviews to make decisions about purchases, I will never lie or over-exaggerate my opinion. There is nothing worse than seeing a bunch of 5 star reviews and realizing the book is full of errors or just plain bad and not worth my hard earned money!

Amara is mated to Zmaj warrior Shedan and the seven-foot-tall dragon warriors do not get ill therefore the plan was to have children and happy life growing old in each other's arms. But then a sickness arrives and it starts to steal their memories as well as go back to their primal nature so that they are lost completely. Shiden starts to show the first signs of the illness and as the only female pilot on their ship, Amara is used to fighting every day - she just has a whole new fight on her hands. She is determined not to lose the love of her life and so it is time for her to repay him for saving her.

This was a heartbreaking story of one woman who was determined not to take defeat lying down and was going to fight with absolutely everything she has in order to find a cure and fix the warrior who she loves and cannot live without. I can only feel admiration for her and the way she went against everything and everyone she had to in order to find ways to help and fix every problem that she came across. Easy to read and completely addictive. Contains explicit sexual content.

She has to save her mate. Amara loves her life on Tajss. She never thought she would have a family and coming to this planet was the best thing that could happen to her. She has a wonderful loving husband in Shidan and a beautiful boy named Malcolm. And then a flu like virus starts spreading through the city. Humans spread it but don’t get sick, and the Tajss who never get sick are in comas, or become violent. And then Shidan gets it. Now she has to find out where it came from so they can find a cure. She has to go out into the dessert with Shidan, and hope he doesn’t totally forget everything or become violent. She hopes their love will be enough to slow down the virus and allow him to help her. But she is on borrowed time. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

well this was clearly written during Covid

This one was intense and scary not in a horror way but intense emotional Ohmygawd can they make it through this
A virus has swept through the Zmaj and the first 3 couples from books 1-3. Are loosing thier mates to the bijas. A mental fog that over takes them and causes them to become primal and more animal. The ladies need to ban together to save thier own and discover what is causing this virus and find a cure.
(Some Dr Zhivago stuff in this one) Ladon is the 1st to be affected going after a missile plant in the desert. And Amara and Svenre. follow ladon’s path to discover what happened to him. While Svenre is slipping in and out of his bijas.
Can Addison find a cure in time, before all the Zmaj males lapse off into the depth of Bijas? And forget their mates, friends & children?

Part of a series /get the tissues out

This is one book that you really need to have read at least some of the earlier books to enjoy but if you have then you are guaranteed to love it . Very topical at the moment and full of action, love ( not romance or lust but true love ) fear, surprises and devotion. Can love conquer everything ? Can it conquer a fatal disease that is rapidly overtaking the inhabitants of "the city " ? A deadly and silent illness, a creepy and equally deadly complex hidden in the vast desert and the courage and friendship of some of the survivors is put to the utmost test. I couldn't put it down and is definatly one to re read again and again

I can't believe we have lived each of the Zmaj loves and lives. The storyline of the couples who should grow old together and live happily ever after are in trouble. The Zmaj are getting sick and their mates are fighting time trying to find a cure. It steals the Zmaj's memories and makes them regress to their animal self. Their has to be a cure but they need time to find it and the mates are working for them to survive. If anyone can find a cure it will be the human women who love their mates. This story is not only heartrending but also heartwarming and shows the love and hope of what their family and friends will go through to fight for each other. Powerful story full of heartache and hope

Each story in this series seems to hit something new and we are at almost 20 books now. I love that the author is able to keep cranking out fresh story lines to keep me hooked and looking forward to each new release. This book is no different in being a unique tale but it is much more of an emotional journey than the other stories. There's suspense, love, hope and a wonderful example of a community working together for a common goal. The tough determination of the human women to save their mates is clearly defined and I loved that aspect of the story. So, grab your tissues, settle in to a comfy chair and expect to be glued to your reader until you hit the last page ;)

Oof, painfully recognizable situation. So very relatable. I like how personal the scenes felt; this was very much a family in distress. I also hated how small the view was because I very much wanted to know what everybody else was doing. Totally conflicted.

Also satisfying to see the progression of this world and characters, even as they struggle merely to survive. Actually, I hated how close to destruction they remain after so long and so very much work. Everytime they went into the inhospitable heat and sand, I wanted to hand them better tools. Maybe skating would work better, or more covering, how about them cacti fields?!

I would probably die on that planet!

I get that the topic is meant to be a reflection of what we are currently facing in our current lives, but it had too many misses for me to really enjoy it.

I'm not a huge fan of Amara to being with, so that might have affected my attitude towards this book, but there were so many other issues with regards to the "virus" and how things were handled. For someone willing to look past those issues, it could be a good addition to the series (you definitely need to read the previous books).

At the beginning of the book there have been two cases that are known of this new virus. I get that their population is small, so even one person is significant, but there were a lot of assumptions being made for such a small sampling. *Spoiler for previous book* At the end of the previous book, they sent people back to The Order even knowing that those people had been exposed because they believed the incubation period was over.

Now they're claiming that the kids (who by being the first generation to mix human and Zmaj are already an unknown element) clearly can't catch or transmit the mystery virus. If they don't know what it is or how it is affecting the Zmaj, how could they possibly know how the children are affected. Other than everyone (minus the kids) keeping their distance, I'm not sure what measures they were actually taking to prevent the spread of this disease (part of this is because we really only see what is going on with the MCs, but I think some more information would have been good). Even once Shidan was known to have the virus he seemed to have a lot of exposure, allowed to leave and return to the city not just once, but twice. I understood why Amara and Shidan went on their missions, but I thought the precautions for them going and coming back were far too loose given the quick quarantine. Though I did like the way Shidan's love and dedication to Amara and their son was what kept him going as the disease attacked his mind, I thought the sex scenes were unnecessary after he was obviously sick. It just didn't feel right to me. I do hope that we'll get to see more of Amara to see if her growth from this book sticks.

OMG! This was so good that it was hard to put down. A scary virus is affecting the Zmaj - two already in isolation and now Shidan is starting to feel the effects. Amara is scared and makes it her mission to fight this virus for her family. Amara and Shidan take a trip to the location where they believe the virus originated and they were able to bring back medications for Addison to find a cure but Shidan continues to get worse. Shidan is lost in his mind and grabs their son, Malcolm, and takes off. Amara is scared beyond words but, deep in her heart, she knows Shidan would never hurt their son. She finds him and gets him back to the City so he can be treated and cured.

Book nineteen in the Red Planet Dragons of Tajss series what a story! It is well written with a very good storyline, the story flows smoothly across the pages. There is trouble happening to the Zmaj. Amara and Shidan race to get a cure to help save the Zmaj, they think it might be in the Generation ship wreckage. Shidan is infected, but he struggles to try and remember both the woman he loves and his son. This was a very intense story. I want to read the next book. This story revisits Amara and Shidan. They have found their happily ever after and plan to raise their son Malcolm and grow old together. Unfortunately some of the Zmaj have started to come down with a mysterious disease that causes them to lose their memories and regress to the way they were before they found their mates. Amira and some of the other mates are in a race to find a cure. I loved this story. It was a wonderful love story about not giving up and fighting to save her family.

Very Emotional

Several books in this series has brought tears to my eyes but this one caused them to flow! I always enjoy revisiting couples after their HEA but this visit wasn't a happy one. With their HEA in jeopardy, Amara and Shidan must try to find a cure for an invisible enemy. One that is trying to take the Zmaj from the beloved. One that didn't count on the stubbornness and possessiveness of Earth women....we don't give up what is ours without one he** of a fight!!!

Everything you expect from Miranda Martin

A little different, this novel, but so lovely. A slice -of-life look at the Red Planet's earlier romances - only now there's a solid bonding, a precocious child, and a good life.... Then a mysterious ailment appears in the Zmaj males, and the story becomes more of a ''challenge met' and a 'love will pull us through' romance. It's a good story told by a writer who delivers all the feels and all the fears of those who fight for the loves of their lives. This is a voluntary ARC review.

I liked this story although there are not a lot of details that I can share without including spoilers! There is a virus in the domed City and a race to discover a cure. The book follows Amara, Shiraz and their son Malcolm as Shidan falls victim to the virus and he and Amara struggle to get the necessary samples and supplies to create an antidote. Although there is a happy ending, there are MANY unanswered questions which I am sure will be resolved in future stories.

Only love and family can keep the bjass at bay.

As the Zmaj begin getting sick from whatever Ladon was exposed to, Amara and Shidan are in for the fight of their lives.
Shidan is showing signs of the bjass taking over. Amara keeps pulling him back with her and Malcolm's love.
They go to find the source of the virus in the military bunker. They discover some gruesome things and a lot more questions.
Can the humans find a cure fast enough or will they lose some of their soulmates?

fantastic series

I loved this revisit to Shidan and Amara. A strange illness has struck the Zmaj, causing the to helplessly regress behind the memory stealing bijass, leaving them violent and territorial once more. Amara is devastated when she sees Shidan suffering symptoms, but she gives her all to save him and the others. Defying Rosalind to help find the answers they need to create a cure. Despite her heartbreak at her Shidan losing his mind, through her turbulent emotions and resurgence of her typical super-bitch personality she never gives up hope.

Shidan is infected, and Amara is at her wits end what to do. She has to protect her child, but she also has to care for her mate. Addison has run out of options for finding a cure, so Amara and Shidan head for the Generation wreck to see if they can find any hope there.

This is a heart-wrenching story watching Shidan go downhill while struggling to remember his mate. You will laugh, you will cry, you will slam the book shut and then open it again.

This storyline is about a couple who were already together and happy! They go in search of a cure for the frightening sickness attacking the dragon men! Though this isn’t a new romance for the couple, it shows an everlasting love and what they will do for their family and friends. It is heart warming and worth the read!

I love this series and can't wait for the next book. The Zmaj in the City are getting sick and regressing to the Bijass, which means they are more animal than warrior. Though they have quarantined themselves, the Zmaj is still getting sick. Amara notices Shidan is showing some signs of the illness and is determined to save her mate. An emotional journey for both Amara and Shidan. A fantastic story.

Perfect timing for this story!!

So this book of the series is making life at the Red Planet interesting. We are learning so much while looking for a cure to the Dragon 's falling ill. Amara proofs to be the strongest here when she sets out to find a cure and her mate Shidan with her. They are strong because they have each other. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what happens with the new discovery

Hits so close to home

I loved this edition to the series! Loved seeing into the original three ladies and their families why they fight to solve this virus. That’s the part that hits close to home because we are facing covid and quarantine too. This book covers the anxiety, stress, love and need for answers we’re all feeling. After Amara’s discoveries in the base I can’t wait to explore that place and the things left back in the tubes.
