What if you were forced to relive a shocking tragedy in every decade?
Friends Claire and Roxie are both trying to escape from unhappy events in their recent pasts. When a realtor offers them a fixer-upper project in the country at a good price, they jump at the chance to transform the old property into a pleasant family home and make themselves some money in the process.
However, it isn't long before things start to turn sour. Roxie invites her new boyfriend to join them and Claire is unable to take a liking to the mysterious David. Not only is the atmosphere inside the house becoming increasingly tense, but a series of tragedies around the property and in the local community soon have Claire investigating possible reasons.
She is shocked to discover that the current tragedies have strong links to past accidents - and the links seem to be related to every decade of wallpaper that the women have removed during their renovations. Tension is building, there are too many questions that need answers, and Claire is now regretting her decision to partner with Roxie in this project.
Can Claire find the answers that she is seeking or is it already too late?

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuousluy. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.

I enjoyed reading 'A Pleasant Family Home' it was well written and made a change to actually find a horror with mystery and one that actually gives you the heebie newbies. Unfortunately it felt as though the ending was rushed, written by someone else who knew the plot and quickly wrote it.I was left feeling disappointed and cheated. Yet ,I did enjoy the majority of the book and the plot so I will change another book by this author.
(1.5) i refuse to believe this book was plotted out. it very much reads like a first draft, written on-the-fly, poorly-edited, creative writing exercise rather than a final product. i'm still not even sure what happened at the end, it's so terribly executed. but i've read worse, so i'm being generous with the rating/rounding up.
The story line was good, the character work was great and the book had a fairly smooth flow to it. This was the first book by this author that I've read, but it won't be the last.

I read many ghost stories esp ones involving old houses. Sometimes the stories seem repetitious. Not this one. Characters are often not what they seem. The reason for the ghosts appearing in the house is very unique and creative. A fun read. Love the ending.
