A New Hope challenges the assumption that Israeli Arab Muslims all think alike. They do not. Nor does global jihad have to be inevitable, although thinking that all Muslims think alike brings Global Jihad closer. Dema Taya, an Israeli Arab Muslim, holds high expectations for herself and for her fellow Arab Muslims. She believes in a world that promotes plurality, freedom, and respect for the rights of women and all people. Despite the obstacles, she delivers her message boldly on television, before parliaments in Europe, on her website www.demataya.com, and now with this book. If you long for a better world, read this book.
I'm not sure how to classify this book. Part poetry, part history, part adventure. There is so much we can learn from Dema. She exposed me to a different world. I love her story of a Muslim growing up in Israel. I learned about how Israel changed from socialism and the move toward financial independence for Arabs. She has a wonderful respect for law and democracy and has risen to a candidate for the Knesset. For anybody with a passion for truth, history, and knowledge about Israel and the Arabs start with this book. It's also a great re-read. I wanted more!
