Review for vol 2: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Rating: 4.5 stars. Authors Unknown volume 1, a short story collection by Shinzo Mitsuda, an up-and-comer of the Japanese horror and mystery novels.

(1) The first story "The Mansion in the Mist" is quite nice! I am kind of impressed by how the 'detective' in the story managed to explain the 'murder mystery' so quickly.

(2) The second story, The Origin of the Child Eating Demon, the narrator's wife and 20 years old son died in the same year, let's see how it will turn out.

(3) The third story, Murder as Entertainment, provides us with tons and tons of lectures about the crime & mystery, true crime, and horror novel/movie genres. This 'game of wit' piece of short story about a 'murder case' that happened in a college student accommodation is exciting to say the least!

PS: 'murder as entertainment' is basically what the crime & mystery, horror, and true crime fans have been experiencing all along.

(4) The fourth story, The Poisoner in the Film Negatives provides us with an interesting murder mystery from the World War II, the daughter of a doctor family had five suitors wanting her attention, but then in one of their gatherings, one man was poisoned to death. Who was the poisoner and what was their motive? , the ending part is nice but this time the ending and the explanation isn't very outstanding.

Again, Mr. Mitsuda used the 'stories within story' format, let's see how it will turn out!

if spookiness is your thing, try this book out!
