I’m so enjoying this adventure. About a year has passed since Book 1 without a lot of drama. A new baby, a lost job, and just learning to live life without your life’s partner. Hazel Taylor lets us see this family dealing with the issues that come with life. Her characters are realistic and the story line could be anyone’s life. Oh, yes there is also another treasure to be found and a new riddle to solve.
Get cozy! Reading this series will remind you of “hide and go seek”! In Book One, we meet Nina who has experienced the devastating loss of her husband, followed by learning of an immense amount of debt left in his wake. Her B & B is at risk, but she discovers clues to possible “treasure” hidden by her late father that just might save the day. In this second book, our increasing cast of characters, including Nina’s adult children, continue to solve puzzles in order to find a series of caches that include a new letter outlining clues to follow for the next one in order. You’ll enjoy what Nina and comrades find and each unique “treasure” tells a story. We’re now on Treasure #4 and so looking forward to #5 and beyond in the next book. Entertaining reads that are worth your while, but best read in order!
I like this one better than the first book. I did wish though that there was more to it. These are short serial type stories and I am a not a huge fan of that. I do enjoy the story thus far though. I like how each serial focuses on someone different in the family. The writing is laid back and easy to read. I will continue reading this series.
Olivia loses her corporate lawyer job and comes home to the we inn to figure out what she will do. She meets one of the guests, a painter, and he shows her how to find herself.
I find that this book is easy to read. The words flow effortlessly, which gives the story continuity. The characters also give you that feeling of family and the love they have for one another. I’m ready for the next book!
Just not sure why this had to be a series of 6 short stories... I feel like I would have enjoyed it more as a novel. I AM enjoying it though, and I want to continue reading, so it's CLOSE to 4 stars. Like 3.7.
Charming, beautifully written, and hopelessly romantic. Opposites attract and bring out the best in each other. This is a wonderful series! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Apparently I am missing something from other reviewers. Way too simplistic, no meat to the story at all. Just way too "syrupy" and predictable, I'm sorry.
Right from the start, it’s easy to figure out what the ending will be. It’s cheesy, but short and kind of nice after reading so many “who done it” books.
Mentioning crystals and their "power" put me on the alert. I will read book 2 before I make a decision. My belief system and faith are more important to me than the enjoyment I found in the plot of this book
The Sand Dollar Inn is a four book series (I think) called Manatee Bay. While Hazel Taylor is the author of this series, it seems she has written other romances which I have not read. The stories all take place around a family: Widowed mother Nina, daughters Olivia and Mercedes, and son Jack. Most of the stories highlight Nina’s Inn, The Sand Dollar in Manatee Bay. The books definitely have romance, but clean and very sweet. So far in each book, the family is following clues that Nina’s father left for her and finding treasure.
In book two, we find out that Olivia has lost her job and is feeling lost. While she was looking for her way forward, she met Noah. Each book has a happy ending and leads into the next book. The books are quite short, more like novellas, but are quick happy reads. The Sand Dollar Inn series at Manatee Bay was a good read.
This was great story. Olivia lost her job in the big law firm in Chicago. She came home to her mother at the Sand Dollar Inn. There she met Noah , a guest at the Inn. The really connected, he taught her how to relax and connect with her inner self. True love blossomed . Enjoy this story.
