Isiah Cason is a man of means. His hustle is on point and his movements are calculated. From the block to the boardroom, Isiah’s street smarts have earned him respect and success while he smoothly navigates both worlds. It should only make sense that matters of the heart follow the same blue print but he finds himself submerged into a complicated connection of deception and disloyalty.

Lake Patterson learned early in life that family can be your biggest downfall. With family secrets like those she keeps locked away, how is it possible to stay grounded and find any resemblance of happiness? Trying to navigate and survive in the world alone, Lake’s only goal is to keep her head above water. There’s little to no room for anything else.

When Lake and Isiah’s worlds collide they both feel a pull that can’t be over looked nor denied which forces them to open up in ways neither of them deemed possible, but life has a way of denying happiness to those who are casualties of the worlds that surround them. Sometimes you can’t break the ties that bind you no matter how much your heart longs to be free.

Interesting

Noel need to just gone on about her business. Especially since she can no longer hold what she thought was a secret over Isiah head. Isiah may have looked up to Odin at one point but after Odin put him in a situation that potentially put his freedom at risk. He look at him different. Isiah has no clue that Odin is a part of his past and Odin is a snake. Lake is battling her own demons and it don't help that her father is trying to guilt trip her. Whatever Lake father has in mind to get out of his current predicament. I have a feeling it is going to cause Lake to have to choose between her father and Isiah. Lake father seems he's about to become a snitch. Dealing with Isiah has her out of her element but it is welcoming. She goes through a range of emotions but Isiah is where she wants to be. I feel drama is really going to be brewing in part two. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what is going to happen.

Amazing

What a way to bounce back!!! I love it. Isiah is BAE af!!! I love how dark both he and Lake are but they’ve seemed to find the light within each other. That phone call from her dad has let me know EXACTLY the type of person he is. And I’m 1000% sure that he’s about to try and ruin her relationship with Isiah. Can’t wait for part 2

Romance and suspenseful

Isaiah was in a difficult situation. He couldn’t resist Lake. Lake was scared and took time to trust people because if her neck ground. They had chemistry once they got together. There are things both of them will have to deal with soon. The book ends in a cliffhanger.

Dont know what to say 😶

I'm conflicted. I love this authors work but this book really dragged to me. I found myself flipping pages. I know that every book wont have a fast burn (this was a REALLY slow burn) and action straight out the gate but I at least would like a connection which I normally feel about this author's work but really fell short in this book to me. I gave 3 stars because this is the first book and may pick up and hold my interest in the next book but to be honest -I'm not even sure I will read the next book.

Hurts my heart to write this because like I said - I REALLY enjoy this author's book but I always have to give an honest review regardless if they are one of my favs 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Eh

This took weeks for me to finish which is unusual. I had to fight with myself to keep going when I really wanted to stop many times. It dragged on and the excitement was, well there really wasn't any. I want to finish the series but then again I don't. I kinda know what her dad is gonna say. Either that girl and her father got to him to make him press his daughter to choose him over Isaiah or someone else is offering to get him out earlier in exchange for info on Isaiah. Hopefully I'm completely wrong.

Chile why do I think her dad is mixed up with Odin?!

That her dad probably murdered Sy and Emma's dad?! That phone call was so random like choose me, I'm sure over her happiness. I swear I don't understand why Lake answers the phone for that man. Sy and Lake are goals I love their relationship, just wish they both would be more honest with each other.

MS. Mills you stay giving us bangers even though for the first time the grammatical errors were very present

Although this was very good and can’t expect nothing less from this author, I must say that it’s the first time I have to give a review for this author and talk or complain about the grammar and all errors that I picked up on. This have never been done or never happened.
In any case this was such a cute story. Lake was so real and so aligned to the real world and the real people. Genuine, shy, confused, not getto, not hardcore, just a simple girl, who knew her worth and value.
Isaiah was also a good fit. Strong, alpha, hood, too personal but gentle and good genuine individual.
The story is truly about these two who are somewhat opposite and yet they are more alike than anything. They don’t have friends more Isaiah than Lake and they don’t trust easily. Maybe the finale will have other characters that will surround the couple with Lake finding a job and Isaiah leaving the game behind.
Everyone around them, so far is great except for Nicole and Odin and the dad, but let’s see how it’s gonna be.

Stayed engaged. Great read, Isiah is my type of guy.!!

I love Isiah. He's unapologetic for who he is and didn't lie to anyone he was involved with. He saw Lake, wanted Lake pursued her until he got her. I like his possessiveness of her it's not overpowering. I hope Chloe remains genuine as Lake needs good people by her side. I love Mrs.Ruby she's a fireball. I like that even with some insecurities that Lake has enough sweetness and spice to deal with Isiah and will call him out when needed but when she needs to be soft for him she does. I know Odin is tied to Lake's father and think I know their connection. How the book ended will be critical to book two. All I will say is decisions decisions. This book kept me engaged. I can't wait for part 2 because things are about to turn up a notch and the beast within Isiah will come to the surface when those he loves are in jeopardy.

Awesome read!

I so love me some Isiah!! What’s not to love?! He’s a man that’s had to find his own way in life and is making a name for himself outside of “the family”. He was tied it to because of his ex, Noel, she refused to let him go even after he told her it was over. She thought holding a secret over his head would keep him but that backfired on her. Her uncle Odin that groomed Isiah is not a man that can be trusted and I can’t wait for Isiah to see him for who he really is.

Lake, the one that stole Isiah’s heart, is so conflicted with completely loving all of Isiah and everything that comes with that. And she has this undying loyalty to her father that is preying on her emotions and guilting her about things she can’t or couldn’t control.

I can’t wait to see how Isiah and Lake fight to keep their love in-spite of Odin and what her father is planning to do.

Amazing!!!

The G.O.A.T has done it again!!! KC is the dopest I swear her pen game is simply amazing. I over love Isiah and the way he love Lake. Noel was getting on my nerves I was so happy Odin burst her bubble she really thought she had something against Isiah. I can’t wait for him to find out about Odin. I’m pretty sure Lake’s dad being released has something to do with Odin and this Moreno character. Lakes dad is wrong for placing blame on his child because he did what a father is supposed to do, protect his child. Lake better choose love, periodt!! I can’t wait until part 2 drops.

Living Sih and Lake

Man I man K . Charlie never fails me. I love how Sih is so confident and goes after what he knows is his. Lake daddy ain't an%to and I can already see the choice is gonna try and force on Lake.( I'm glad Sih was honest with her up front so the choice should be a no brainer, to chose love over someone who wants to guilt you all the time) I love Mrs. Ruby and her ability to see deeper into things I hope to see more of her in the next installment , I'm rooting for everyone except the Abaras and Nat and that sorry ass daddy. Can't wait to continue this saga . I just love it.

This was an amazing read. I have been patiently waiting for one of my fav authors to drop another spectacular read in which was delivered with a bang. I love these complex characters that are drawn together so completely that it’s even hard for them to gather themselves. I love Lake because she’s so meek and lovable but I can tell if she’s pushed she can definitely stand her own ground. Isiah is what every Alpha male should be, confident, arrogant and selfish but yearning to be loved and give the same love that he’s seeking. I can’t wait until part even though the storm is brewing I can see the clouds after the rain.

I Love Love

This is a wonderful Love Story with a different twist! Isiah is BAE while chile I can picture him in that Tom Ford Suit 😍 I see why Noel didn’t want to take her claws out of him 🤦🏼‍♀️ Lake was a fresh character not naive to anything she was in tune with everything & everyone around her. Her dad is her darkness he puts so much pressure on her but what does dear old dad has up his sleeve.....I want to hear more about Erm & Emmanuel. Will part 2 end with a happy ending or will Lake have to choose between Isiah & her dad the plot thickens......

(Libby) DNF after 28% -- I don't get the hype. There's this guy that has murdered a man, his ex uses this info to blackmail him into a loveless relationship. He makes his money the dirty way, and sleeps around a LOT ... and everyone is leaving reviews about him being so BAE. Um, no thanks. Y'all can keep that dumpster fire! The story was dragging and I just was not a fan of the characters. I read such great things about this book and waited so long to borrow it on Libby - then lost interest a quarter of the way through. Disappointing.

I usually enjoy this author’s writing, but this book just didn’t work for me. It took me two weeks to finish a book that’s barely 300 pages because I kept waiting for it to go somewhere and it never really did. I found it pretty boring overall. There’s a part two, but I don’t think I’ll be continuing the series.

That said, I still like the author. This feels like an earlier work, and it’s missing a lot of what I’ve enjoyed in their other books. I’m willing to try again with a different title.

Great Read

Isiah decided from day one that Lake would be his and he made it happen. Hopefully he can handle everything that Odin has gotten him into and be able to keep them safe. Lake's father is about to cause more problems for their relationship by getting the FEDS involved. Hopefully Lake will listen to Mrs. Ruby and not let him break her. Can't wait for part two! Great job.

Lake's father is on that good good bs as well as Odin. Noel, smh she better not try no bull as well as Miranda, she bowed down too quick. Great way to bring the 🔥!!!

This was a great book, but what else do you expect!! I love Lake & Si. Oden and his whole family are bitch made, they don’t want him to be happy and move forward. Her DADDY is about to cause trouble for her and Si. He’s going to guilt her in choosing him over her man, I hope she chooses her NEW family. Blood makes u related, but loyalty makes u family!!!

I need part 2 ASAP!

Although things started off slow, I absolutely loved the story. Lake is a bit naive and I hope she will boss up in part 2. Isiah is definitely book bae and I hope he can get himself out of the bad situation unscathed. All of the Abara's are parasites and they definitely need to go! Looking forward to part 2 and hopefully Lake will be Isiah's peace, calm & ride through the storm that's brewing! Thanks K.C. Mills!!!!💕

Where do I begin?

The characters are so well developed that I felt the pull between Lake and Sih lol. I couldn't put this book down. The story line made sense, it was real common everyday people. Not some gun toting pistol slinging gangsters. Even Mrs. Ruby is real and relatable with he ability to see sense and feel those around her.

I would say this is Ms. Mills best book by far and definitely my favorite. I'm looking forward to part two.

To Be Continued?

Look now...this book was a page turner for me but right now hot...there is a continuation!

Loved me some thug Isiah and how he got Lake. He is hard on the outside but loving and caring for those he loved and treasured. The way he catered to Lake and his sister Ema and respected Chy. But his thug life...another story. He the man to get things done.

Where is the next book???i want my memories to be fresh. Come on K. Charelle!!

Too many words?

Although I enjoyed the storyline, at times, I felt there was too much dialog at times, and I needed to skip ahead little in this book.
Because of it's length, I wasn't expecting the " to be continued, " either, but there is a second part coming. My hopes are as follows. The author will drop the second part, it will genuinely be the finale, not a rush job, and it will release sooner rather than later.

Hmmm....

I wonder what’s in store for Isiah and Lake? I really like this story: Isiah isn’t the typical street dude but, rather, someone who has used the streets to get what he needed. Though he’s still in the game, the streets are not his only game. Lake is almost the typical female character but she’s not completely naive or needy; I like that about her. The book stops in a good place but leaves you with enough to hold out for book two.

Part 2

I can already see where this is going! And I can see her dad is about to be on some trash. My theory she bout to have to chose between her dad and Isiah! And she better not chose her dad! It seems like everybody in this book is on some other stuff! Somebody fix it! Incredible job. Can’t wait for part 2

This book was another hit. Different name but the same. I love when authors describe characters so well, you can picture them in your mind. I can't wait for part 2 to be released. I hope Lake gets her happy ending because I think she found true love. It's good to be have you back Queen. Keep up the good work 👍
