This felt like a more technical look at interviewing written by someone with a lot of experience in the interviewer's chair. Most of the examples within the book felt sterile--as in general suggestions rather than sample conversations. I most appreciated the sections later in the book where he did give sample conversations, as well as the discussion of what impressions actually look like in practical terms.
Thomas Franke has hit a Grand Slam with Interview BetterView!! I have been hiring and interviewing candidates for more than 35 years. Many times I had a good gut feeling about a candidate and hired them. In the next few weeks my gut feeling became a very sick feeling, as the new employee was a bad hire and created a nightmare to get rid of. Thomas uses a very practical and awesome HR Process to eliminate these bad hires. I wish I could have read Tom’s Book 30 years ago. If you are a hiring manager this is a must read!! This book makes it simple for anyone who is hiring to select the best candidate for the job. If you are seeking employment this book is a must read before you interview. The book gives you the best tool kit for your next interview.
Absolutely incredible guide to interviewing! This book was well-written and easy to read, and the information provided was unlike anything I've ever read on the topic of interviewing. Impression Interviewing was an eye-opening topic for me, and I am now very motivated to interview for my next job! This book is fantastic for any type of job seeker--from new graduates to older job seekers to even those with a criminal record. The author breaks through the traditional guides to interviewing to provide new and relevant information. Interviewing does not seem so daunting now that I have read this extremely helpful and logical guide. A must-read for anyone!
As a new graduate in the medical field, Interview BetterView was not what I expected. It is geared more towards those who are changing jobs in a non-medical field (i.e. sales). I will say that Chapter 10 (Introducing Impression Interview) was probably the most helpful for someone in my situation as it gave reminders on how to act in order to show charisma or talent.
