Book 4 - The Dark Underworld

Mason didn’t listen to his gut. And now it may cost him his daughter. Nearly a full year has passed since Mason Walker’s last dangerous mission. Clara, his daughter, has finished her first year at Stanford and her first professional job. To celebrate, Mason and Clara jet off to Egypt for two weeks before her sophomore year begins. All seems normal on the trip. They sight-see, meet other travelers, and take photos. But as soon as they land back in Baltimore, Onyx calls. They need Mason’s help. What Mason and the rest of Onyx don’t know, however, is that soon, a new mission comes up, one even more important than the one Onyx requested. One that will leave Clara’s life in the balance.

Book 5 - Vengeful Fire

Mason Walker has always been a man of few words. And ever since his days in the Navy SEALS, it had been ingrained in him to just keep his mouth shut and get the job done.

Since the passing of his wife and the mother of his child, Mason had retreated even further inward. But now, there was someone new in his life that was methodically picking away at his icy exterior. Her name was Raina.

Perhaps, it was the fact that his daughter, Clara, had just left the nest to attend Stanford that encouraged him to make the leap, but Mason had opened his heart to the chance of love once again. It wasn’t easy for him, but he was finally learning to give and receive a kind of affection he thought that he had lost forever.

It was right when Mason opened himself up to the vulnerability of these intense emotions that seven girls go missing from Clara’s school and one turns up dead.

There is something evil lurking in the background of Mason’s new attempt at living a happy and loving life, and as his own daughter gets mixed up with a sex trafficking ring, his entire world threatens to come crashing down on him.

Will he be able to save the ones he loves the most before it’s too late?

Read to find out!

Book 6 - When Mayhem Cries

Mason Walker was never one to shy away from a fight.

It wasn’t that he thought of himself as a “tough guy” or that he was looking for trouble. He was just a man of conviction and indomitable will who would not allow himself to be dictated and dominated by others.

Since his days in the Navy SEALS it had been ingrained in him to face a threat head on rather than to turn away.

And in his time, he had indeed faced down more than his fair share of dangerous situations and had always managed to come out on top. But in more recent times Mason’s methods have been repeatedly called into question. And he has been labeled as being too “headstrong” and even “rogue” when it comes to adhering to his marching orders.

While his handlers play politics meanwhile, all hell breaks loose when a group of terrorists decide to wreak havoc right in the middle of New York City. Mason discovers that it’s the same group of End Time nihilists he has already faced in the past who are hellbent on cleansing the world of its iniquity through widespread death and destruction.

The Onyx team is still trying to find information on the General Fanelli getting away still bugged Mason. He has a big surprise trip for he Clara before she goes back to school. They arrive home and Mason has to go to work and Clara has to go back to school he made a reservation for the train. Clara makes it to the station but doesn't make the train. Mason looses it for a while. The team carries on for him. The team also goes to the Amazon to stop the drug cartel. They meet a chief who graduated from Stanford, and feeds then his family. when her dad gets back and he and Raina come to visit they find Clara has a new boyfriend and he is not who he seems to be and Clara and Raina are in Jeopardy. Style Doesn’t Quite Work for Me

To me, this author has a slightly peculiar writing style. He really loves to tell rather than show. For any fiction, even thrillers like this, it is important for writers to follow that writing adage of showing, not telling. Otherwise, you feel there is a bit of a distance between you and the characters… and the action. We can’t feel like we’re in the middle of it all with telling. I also think the recurring theme of the main character's daughter getting kidnapped is getting a bit old. It was fun that the first book went to Egypt, but the other two books kept us stateside, which isn't nearly as much fun when you have a cool team like Onyx. I suggest you take a peek at the Look Inside at Amazon to see if this author's particular writing style works well for you.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Proof readers need firing!

The first book was okay. The rest were boring and took forever to get through. There were so many typos that it felt like the proof readers were non existent. The storyline too was one paced . It's not a recommendation from me unfortunately
