Trigger warnings: stalker, attempted rape. Allison, Abe's sister, is swept away into police custody due to a stalker that gets violent. She's just been saved by a special ops guy who has a hatred of actresses. Little does she know, Abe has just hired the guy to protect her. Birch (sounds like a tree...) is on a 60-day leave since he doesn't like taking leave (apparently). His mother and half-sister are actresses and the most destructive and manipulative people he knows. Not to mention, he and his brother both had their hearts broken by actresses. Birch ends up making a deathbed promise to his brother that he will eschew all actresses, period. That was working until he met the "girl-next-door" Allison. She's sweet and innocent but it could be an act. So, when her brother hires him to protect her, here's his chance to see. Well, what the both find is love and a pull towards each other. Now that the "stalker" has been found and arrested, life can go back to normal and Allison can be whisked away to her movie set. However, the stalker wasn't caught and now Birch has to figure out who is threatening Allison's life before she ends up dead. HEA, of course. This finished the series. And Mar was in this one briefly...she's my favorite!
I didn't mind the series so much. What I did mind was the physical attraction taking precedence. I understand you have to be physically attracted to someone in order to approach them. But these books were all about his muscles and her tanned thin frame. I'm not really an "all about muscles" kind of girl. They are nice but I've never met a man like that. And I don't seek out men based on their bulk. Some of the guys had personalities that I would love to have in a future husband (single here), but not all of them. In fact, I'm EXTREMELY (did I stress that enough) picky with whom I date. And overly-defined muscles aren't on my list of traits. I hope the men out there are more interested in what's inside the woman's head than her gorgeous lips/eyes/figure/fill-in-the-blank. So, while these are cute reads, they are so superficial and fantastical.
Born in Hollywood, USAF Spec Ops officer Birch Merrill promised his dying lyounger brother to never again date an actress on the night they had both been dumped by the fledgling actresses they had been dating, and for more than eight long years Birch honored that promise. But when he encounters and rescues Allison Bradford, not knowing that she is his teamleader's brother-in-law's little sister, he is finding himself reconsidering that position. Definitely read this story to learn how Allison and Birch find a way to reconcile their histories, their careers and their growing attraction to each other.
I received an ARC copy of this story from the author via BookFunnel and voluntarily chose to share my review.
I only hope we will have a follow-up of Birch and Ally's story. Want to see how they will .manage their lives. Ally has gotten her dearest wish a four story series. Birch manages to get together as much as possible. I loved the way Blade came to him as he was surviving a concussion. Blade told him okay to be with Ally, that she was the one for him. All in all a good loving story. Well worth your time to read and enjoy Thank you to Cami for such a joyful story.
Loved this additional book to the Jewell Family series about Abe's sister, Ally! She is sassy and fun. I love her commitment to being an actress in clean movies only. Birch is an amazing protector, even when he is not thrilled about who he is protecting. I loved watching the tension unfold between these two. Their ties to the Jewel family make them a great fit for this series. I can't help but think there must be a story out there somewhere for Ally's friends too. This story was a great one to escape with on vacation!
I enjoyed every entry in the Jewell family series. Neither Ally nor Birch are members of the Jewell family, but they're connected, some locations also got revisited. I also enjoyed the crossover name dropping from a previous series, hello Scarlett! This was a very satisfying read and a worthy close to this series, can't wait to start Cami's next, starting next month.
I’m sad that the series is over, but what an end! Birch abhors actresses and Ally is just starting to get famous. I love that Birch is military and saves her, even though he doesn’t like her. It’s a very small world in the Jewel family, so no surprises that Ally is related by marriage, Abe’s her brother, and Isaac is Birch’s Commander. I loved that Ally only wanted to do clean movies!
Alison a movie star on a beach walking met a man Birch who she did not know, but was running on the beach. He stopped and spoke to her and then moved on. Birch's mother owned a mansion on the beach and his sister lived there as well. This story is of love and intrigue when Ally gets caught up in the serious goings on a a man stalking actresses. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Allison is an aspiring actress. Birch is military on leave. When they meet each finds the other very interesting. Birch has a bad attitude about actresses. When he finds out she is an actress he breaks it off. The sticky note bandit attacks her and Allison's brother hires Birch to protect her. Can they overcome the obstacles in their life to find true love? There are surprises they keep you reading.
They met and were attracted to each other until he found out she was an actress then it all went downhill. He despised actresses with good reason. She gets attacked, needs a bodyguard and he's recommended for the job. Can they get over their differences? Can he get pass his prejudice? Who's after her? I highly recommend this book.
Cami Checketts has another hit! This is a fantastic heart pumping story. Plenty of action, suspense, and more. A stalker who suddenly attacks. Hiding for safety. A body guard who has sworn off dating actresses. Is this a formula for disaster? Romance? Can there be trust when anyone could be lying? I highly recommend this book! Happy Reading!
Birch has had a traumatic experience with actresses. His mother, sister and ex girlfriend are actresses. Things did not go well for him where they are concerned. Now he meets Alison who is an actress. Can they make a go of it. This is a very interesting and exciting story.
This is a sweet and flirty little romance with a little bit of everything from family drama to romance with two amazing characters that will have you enjoying every moment of their journey towards unconditional love and happily ever after.
This book was ok until about 2/3 of the way through it became pretty ridiculous. Plus the “I can’t be with you cause I promised my brother” got really old. Other books in the series were better.
I know that insta-love is basically part of Cami Checketts’ writing MO, but I don’t love it. I also wasn’t really onboard with the premise of the promise to Blade—I tolerated it as I read, but again, didn’t love it.
Cami Checketts books are always a fun and entertaining read, if your in a reading slump one of her books always cures me. This is a clean romance between an actress Allison and her loyal protector Birch.
Allison and Birch's story is belief in each other even thou your past has taught you different. The characters are memorable and the storyline is exciting and full of doubts yet trying to overcome your past.
Abe's sister Allison is an actress. When she encounters a stalker, Abe's brother-in-law, Isaac, recommends Birch Merrill, his Air Force special Ops buddy to be Ally's body guard. This is a great end to a fun series filled with wonderful characters, swoony romance, and plenty of suspense.
I have loved this series. Cami Checketts is one of m my favorite authors. She doesn't put a lot of fluff in her books and the writing and editing are great.
I really enjoyed the relationship between Allison and Birch. I love a good suspenseful romance. I've enjoyed all of the books in this series. This is a sweet, clean romance.
