The Buccaneer by Donna Fletcher is the story of Catherine Abelard and Captain Lucifer.
Catherine out to save her stepfather by marrying Lucifer. Lucifer is the one person that can help save her father and she is willing to marry the pirate to save him. Lucifer has his own agenda with his reason for marrying Catherine but they soon become ones he can't seem to get through.
I am in love with this author's writing. I will be looking for more books from her.

Awwww what a sweet guy! Typical big bad pirate that's actually not very bad at all!

I enjoyed the bond between H and h, H was so cute and possessive over Catherine. The slightly not so cool front cover on the ebook I got and the few typos I found in the beginning gave me low expectations, the plot has so many HR cliches : revenge, lost aristocrat pirate, kidnapped Virgin etc. However it worked and I think often the plot and how cliche it is, isn't what makes a novel good, it's the characters interactions and if you connect with their emotions and I did so who cares if it was a bit predictable.... 5 stars as I will definitely reread.

Revenge was going to be sweet and Lucifer can’t wait to see it done. His plan is to take the Marquis of Devinshire’s stepdaughter, ruin her thus getting his revenge on the man that almost destroyed his life. But things don’t always work out the way we want them to. Once Lucifer meets Catherine his life is never going to the same and she is determined to get to the truth one way or the other.

The Buccaneer reminds me of why I fell in love with reading romance novels. The hero in this story is a “man’s man” with everyone around him doing exactly what he says or suffer the consequences. These same men respect as well as fear him. He says exactly what he means and means what he says with no questions asked. Deep down he is also tender, caring and protective of those he loves. The heroine seems delicate but she is really a strong woman who brings our hero to his knees with her love and devotion.

This story has it all with a sexy, strong “save the day” kind of a hero; a strong, loving, amazing heroine who loves with all her heart; a mystery that takes a bit of fast page turning to find the answers of who and why our hero was doing the things he was doing and there is a really awful bad guy as well as a happy ever after that will make the reader’s heart swoon. The buccaneer is a well-written, lovely story that will be added to my read again list. I highly recommend this book.

Wow!! The Buccaneer is more than a steamy historical romances, it's sizzling hot with all the naughty tantalizing passion on the high seas that will hold you spellbound as it comes to life with all the intrigue and betrayal swirling down into a vortex of darkness of revenge. With a tangled web of deceit, lies and secrets woven over the years of an evil obsession straight from hell. It's an action-packed ride on a pirate ship full of trial and tribulations that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat until the very end. Donna Fletcher heart stopping romance story brims with tension-building twists, characters that come off the pages and will pull you into their tale, a strong plot that is well written, great and witty dialogue with setting descriptions and action sequences that are wonderfully vivid which brings this read together perfectly. Raging feelings and tempers swirl like a raging storm at sea between Captain Lucifer, one hot pirate, and Lady Catherine as sparks fly in this story full of swashbuckling adventure, drama, suspense, agnst, and while the mistrusts build and tensions escalate uncertainties abound in this outstanding story!!

I found this book through a recommendation on an Amazon Discussion for H uses h as revenge- and that is exactly what it was, but not the best book I have read on this theme. If you like "revenge" Risk Everything was much better.

2 1/2, maybe 3 stars. Very typical old style romance/ bodice ripper with no forced seduction or rape though. The story was sort of silly, but did get better. The hero, the pirate Lucifer, kidnaps the daughter of the man he believes had him tortured and sold into servitude on a Merchant ship. Lucifer plans to take Catherine's innocence and return her to her father completely shamed and used. She blows his plan to bits by acting the roll of a trollop instead of the innocent virgin that she is and then he falls in love with her. I have to say I didn't know for sure if the father was good or bad until the end, which was pretty amazing since all the other secrets were easy to predict. Lots of typos, which doesn't usually bother me, but many were the switching of his and her or he and she, which can get confusing.

DNF.... I did not like the game Catherine played with Lucian making him think she was a whore. It was ridiculous to me. It lasted too long to me in the book. She got on my nerves. Eventually, he found out she was a virgin after they had sex without being married first. I personally preferred they were married before they had sex. I just couldn't finish reading this book because I lost all interest in it.

Exciting story

I chose this rating because I love all of Donna books. They always have a mystery that doesn't get presented till the end. I am always anxious to find out the ending.

a bit disappointed about the hero you can tell that his character was written by a woman he speaks to romantically for a man especially a rough man, It's written to unrealistic

It was a nice, light read, and really liked it, but it was nothing special at the same time. The first half is the best part of the story and read it in no time, the second one took me longer because I kind of lost interest in the hero and heroine, but that interest returned eventually and I'm glad I finished it.

My only issues were the need for a good edition throughout the book, and the repetitive description of Lucian. I mean, I don't need a reminder every 20 lines or so of how big and powerful he is and how the heroine is helpless to fight him off.

Never really cared for historicals but as I read the reviews on Amazon I was intrigued when readers said it was a 'Pirate Romance'. I've never ready anything of that genre before and decided to give it a try.

The revenge plot was what drew me at first and once I started I couldn't put it down.
Loved the characters and was pleasantly surprised as the story progressed.

This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm looking forward to reaing more of her work.

It's one hell of a read! especially the 'revelation' part near the end of the book which shocked not only the hero but also me!

Wow. What a messed-up book. Does it bother anyone else that the two characters schtupping in this story are brother and sister? Is it just me? I mean, supposedly her STEP-dad is his biological dad, but... really? That's not my kind of sexy. And I'm from the South!

I know I gave this 2 stars but just because the quality of this books is like barrel scraping low, it's probably one of my favorite books I've ever read I reread it all the time because it's so ridiculous.

Great romping story, yummy hero, worthy heroine. Really enjoyed this. The secondary characters were good and the villain was suitably villainous. Worth reading.
