The past doesn’t just haunt you. It can kill you… Nothing good ever happens at 3AM. Nothing. And as Alexis Parker stands in the midst of an active crime scene, she can’t help but recall that admonition. Her mentor, Mark Jablonsky, a man who's more of a father to her than the man who adopted her, was rushed into surgery an hour ago. The prognosis unknown, but if the blood soaked sheets are any indication of his chances, then it doesn’t look good. When Alex resigned from the FBI, she did her best to put everything behind her. She moved on. The nightmares had finally stopped. Until now. Someone from Alex’s past wants her to regret her decisions. Getting revenge on Mark is only the beginning. If Alex doesn’t act quickly enough, more of her former colleagues will drop like flies. And then, he’ll come for her.
G.K. Parks has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. After spending some time in law school, G.K. changed paths and earned a Master of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Now, that education is being put to use, creating a fictional world based upon years of study and research.

I enjoyed this series. Each book is different with a female the main character. The same characters are in most of the books. I few problems with bad language that in most cases was not necessary.
Could not put down this book till the end. All those who follow this series will probably guess the stalker/ murderder and hopes he gets what’s coming to him after the attempted murder of Jabber. Great read
The eighteenth book in this series and they continue to be exceptional. Every character is an important part of the world GK Parks has created. I'm already looking forward to the next time Alex takes on the world!
I can’t tell how much I love this series and this author. This group of books is not to be missed you will love every word in every book! Don’t miss out.
One of my many favorite series that I love to read. Once you pick up the book and start reading, you just can't put it down til you are finished with it. I cannot wait until the next one comes out. I love Alex, Martin, and all the other characters in this series.
Wow, the Alexis Parker books just get better. Such a tough woman yet so sensitive and caring of her friends. Alex Parker is truly to be admired. Along with her wonderful friends they form a formidable family. Can’t wait for #19 and further adventures.
Having her sleep isturbed at 3am, wasnt Alex"s favourite thing, but the volce on the phone woke her instantly, she had to go now. Mark was barely alive when she reached his home, the phone was still hangingb where his would be killer dropped it. Everything happened so fast, Mark barely survived surgeries to remove the two bullets to his chest, now all she could do is pray. Shortly another phone call took her to another colleague's home. He didnt make it. It took a while, but she eventually knew who had called her twice, but he was in jail. No one believed her, stubbornly she insisted on visiting the prison. The prisoner wasnt Steele, somehow he had swapped places with another inmate due for release. More phone calls showed just how obsessed Steele was with Alexis, he blamed her for everything wrong in his life. He would kill others involved in his arrest, she would be his final victim. How many more would he kill, or attempt to? Definitely worth reading to get the answer.
Jab linen I is shot in the abdomen, the killer called and floated. He then killed ex FBI agent Cooper but called her when it was too late. She knew it was Steele, the crazy gangbanger that Jab linen I, Cooper, Heath cliff and she put in prison but no one would believe her. She went to the prison and found he had switched places with Vega who was scheduled to be released with the help of the warden. He's leading her a great chase but she manages to save someone else before in his own convoluted way he gets the jump on her old OIO partner Luca. She gets there in time to save him but after her tussle with Steele her gets the drop on her but Luca shot him with her gun she had lost in the fight. Martin and everyone is there for her after almost losing her father figure and partner, plus she had been injected with heroin and shot in the leg. Great story, love this author.
Mark Jablonsky is shot, and the attacker calls Alex to tell her. She recognizes his voice but can’t place him, and with Mark being an OIO SSA, all hands are on deck from the FBI, the police, and Cross Security offering support as well. Even the US Marshalls join in after the man kills another agent and harms a third.
The links between them all have to do with an old case and a higher up in the KXD gang. Alex feels responsible, but the killer is gunning for her last, and is after Heathcliffe, who also knows him. Eddie Luca returns to help too, and Martin and Alex both keep Lucien busy asking for protection for each other.
There’s some good humour, buts lots of suspense as they go on many wild goose chases, but dangerous pursuits as well. Rescuing poor Lawson in the club was a great scene and his gullibility is hilarious.
Another favourite in the series, great to bring my favourite characters to the fore, Derek, Mark, and Nick.
Cops (ex-cops) & Robbers (well, criminals). More twists than a corkscrew pretzel. The continuing saga of Alexis Parker. Great as a stand alone book but, as I realized part way through, also with lots of the characters you’ve met before in her adventures. I wanted, at turns, to cry, to scream (mostly at Alex), to hide from the terrors. It’s a great mystery that just never stops profiling the bogeyman in the shadows. A good ending but a tearful, hurting, torturous path to get there.
I read my first Parks novel several years ago and committed the name to memory. I have since read everything Parks writes. I love the characters, the formulas, the storylines, and how everything is connected among the main characters from each of the series. This story doesn’t disappoint, and even brings back a few folks you met earlier on. Highly recommend.
That's what this series always manages to give. The only author who keeps me up all night. The only series in this genre that keeps me turning those pages til silly o'clock. As well as the thrills and spills I love the dynamics between Alex and Martin. I love that the author doesn't need to write steamy scenes for them. What they have is worth so much more.
I love this series. As of this review, there are 27 books in this series. I am reading the entire series from the beginning for the second time. It's truly addicting. I love the characters, the suspense, the mysteries, and the humor. I highly recommend this series.
Omg. This is a fantastic thriller. You are kept in suspense until the very end. Can't wait for the next book in this series. This is a must read for all thriller and suspense fans. This is a book you can't put down. I highly recommend this book
Another fast paced book that grabs you from the first chapter!!! The characters are so well written that you actually fear for their lives. You don't want anything to happen to Alex 's friends and it pains you when it does.
I blame this outstanding author and these books I'm obsessed with. When Alex is in the throes of a case, I can't eat or sleep and now I have taken to pacing. Please, if nothing else is right in the world with Alex, please let her pick James!
This before ok was great! I love how Alex and Martin are finally becoming in sync and trusting each other. It's awesome! I'm so freaking excited for more now!
I have enjoyed reading this series. The opening chapter immediately drew me in and then the plot to all the right turns to keep me reading. To date this volume would be in my top 3 of 18.
Unbelievably thrilling and exciting and I am anxious for the next book in the series. I feel connected and am glad that the series is continuing. Alexis is an amazing woman and James is the man for her.
I continue to be impressed by your skilled writing, thank you for upping the game. You didn't disappoint me. I would recommend you to anyone who enjoys fast paced action.
