Bone: Out from Boneville, by Jeff Smith is a fantasy, fun filled adventure that starts the series off with a bang. This book is the first of 9 of the original series, excluding the prequel named Rose. Fone Bone, the main character of the story, Fone Bone gets disconnected from his cousins Phoney and Smiley by a swarm of locusts, and Fone ends up in a mysterious valley, where he seems to be stalked by creatures that vaguely resemble rats, but yet, takes out the hand-drawn map and tries to find where it is supposed to be or who it belongs to. I loved Fone as a character, as not only is he trying to be mildly serious about his circumstance, he still brings a sense of humor to the situation and allows the book to feel natural and allows it to flow very smoothly.
