A Loser's Revenge

Rate this book
I watch from the shadows of trees against the cars lining the street. Invisible to the three I keep under my anger filled glare.

Dressed in black, I have the hood of my zip-up hoodie pulled over my head and drawn closed as I fade into the afternoon shadows to observe and plan my revenge. They probably wouldn’t recognize me if they did see me standing here. I’ve changed a lot over the past nine years and I’m no longer the slightly chubby kid who wore overalls or t-shirts and jeans everyday of the week until I was thirteen and everything changed. Everything. When my best friends became my worst enemies.

I watch as Seamus, Hayden, and Axel laugh and joke around in their front yard and toss a football back and forth between one another. We’re only a five minute walk from the college we all attend, a college I just transferred to mid semester of our senior year. They don’t know I’m here and that’s the way I want to keep it for a little bit longer. I patiently watch, waiting for them to leave for the football game so I can begin my plan.

I will get my revenge.

Barretta Dawn Bowers thought she had the three best friends in the whole world. There was nothing and no one that could come between them. Never in a million years did she think that they would be the reason for their friendship to be torn apart and her heart to break. Having moved to Florida with her aunt when her whole life had been turned upside down it isn't until nine years of being gone and a family emergency calls her home does she return to Oklahoma.

Transferring to the local college and moving into an apartment close to campus with her best friend who tagged along for support, old memories and anger start rising to the surface when she soon finds herself face to face with her ex-friends turned enemies. To keep her mind off the troubles at home she begins to plot the revenge she promised herself so long ago.

*Trigger Warnings*
This Contemporary college-age romance is a medium/fast burn RH and contains several themes that readers should be aware of: swearing (shocking, I know), flashbacks of bullying, present revenge, and sexual themes suitable for 18+

You think this book is about an alpha female getting revenge? Prepare to be disappointed

It's no secret that I like revenge plots especially when the female MC is the one doing it, because of that I have no filter, if I see a book that vaguely resembles a revenge plot I pick it even if the reviews are not as great.

This book wasn't great.

Spoilers below

That's the entire book right there, nothing happens except her thinking about how they betrayed her. There was some sad drama with her dad but the entire frivolous plot overshadowed it. She didn't even seem to care about her own dad's because she was having sex with the guys hours after and only got sad the next day when her mom mentioned it.

Maybe this is a me problem but this book was not it.

Promising but desperately in need of a proofread

There were things I liked here: starting each chapter with a quote from the characters’ shared past helped bring the backstory to life, the emotions between the characters felt genuine, and the #whychoose tension kept me turning pages.
There were things that I didn’t like. The sex scenes were weirdly brief and awkward with almost no build up. I thought maybe the author was doing this for effect: to show that the heroine couldn’t choose between the three heroes, but no, even the big finale is strangely uncomfortable. And for heaven’s sake, use lube!
The typos made this book almost unreadable. Sometimes there were two or three per page. They became extremely distracting. I was really surprised to get to the back of the book and discover this wasn’t a debut novel because I wouldn’t expect an experienced writer to make such constant grammatical and punctuation errors. Some are unintentionally funny, like when the hero’s hair is described as “moused” instead of “moussed.” But overall, they took away too much from any pleasure I got from reading the story. Very disappointing. Would not recommend.

So I think this book is going to be one you either love or hate given your personal preferences. About a quarter of the way in we find out what the boys' (3) did to the heroine to make her seek revenge. Personally I thought what they did was pretty bad, pretty beyond the threshold of cruel. Something that potentially could have led to severe mental health issues or even worse a suicide attempt. The heroine does mention becoming anorexic for a time after their falling out and that's bad enough. (this is also something I wish they would have at least hashed out. They deserve to feel regret and pain over what they did to her and should know what she went through after the fact.) Now given this I was even more eager for some retribution. It's one thing to be bullied and picked on by losers at school but it's a whole other ballgame when it's your ride or die BFFs dishing it out. Unfortunately this is where things didn't work for me because given nine years have passed and the heroine's life was drastically altered after that day I think she went far too easy on them. Guess I've read so many books lately that have brought out the dark side in me so I was expecting some serious revenge not Tik Tok type pranks. This added in with the crap epilogue and I'm left floundering over how to rate the book. I did enjoy the book but I really don't think B got her payback. And yes I know now they're in love etc but one does not just get over the past nine years. Again this is like I said a personal preference thing but given that what they did led to the heroine leaving her home altogether and rarely returning home she let them slide far too easily. It felt a little wrong that suddenly when her dad passes she just gets over all that pain, I can see her wanting to open up to them more but completely brushing off what happened in the event of a death just didn't feel right. I'm that person that will hold a grudge for years and while B did hold the grudge when it came down to it, she couldn't hurt them the way they hurt her. The boys reasoning also (just doing it for sports) really hit me the wrong way and only served to make me more pissed. In the long run their cruelty towards her worked in their favor since they all continue to play sports in college. Where her life was essentially ruined, they were still able to live with what they did, sure they had regret but that never stopped them from playing the game and taking advantage on what they did. I know it may not sound like I enjoyed the book but I did. Stayed up until 3AM finishing it and I enjoyed the journey I really just wish the heroine got some sweet revenge or at the very least threw some serious zingers at them about what their actions caused. The epilogue could have made up for this if we saw some major groveling over the years but it was just a quick wrap up and still in present time. On another note, I don't know why but damn if that cover hasn't had this book on my TBR since I saw the author post about it on FB, really love it and how simple yet direct it is (about the story) if that makes sense. Also as another reviewer points out the heroine is referred to as Barry early on and for a while I was wondering if she was transgender and maybe that's what drew them apart. She is not transgender FYI just has a shit name, but be prepared for a confusing start.

This is one of my comfort reads
I lost count of how many times I've read this book

It has almost everything I love in a contemporary romance
drama - hurt - betrayal - grovel - intensity - love - connections - chemistry
but most of all
a strong-willed FMC

⚜Genre: Contemporary Romance
⚜Theme: Second-Chance RH college romance
⚜Targeted audience: adult
⚜Characters: Barretta, Axel, Seamus, Hayden
⚜Representation: bi-character
⚜TW: bullying - parent loss - revenge - sexual scenes
⚜ tropes: medium-burn, friends to enemies(kinda) to lovers, hidden identity
⚜ POV: multiple - first person
⚜ spice 🌶🌶 🌶🌶
⚜ rating: 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
⚜standalone: yes
⚜Ending: HEA

Barretta, Axel, Seamus, and Hayden are childhood friends who grow up together and slowly build feelings towards each other. The three boys do something very stupid in middle school that hurts Barrey and breaks her heart. She leaves and cuts ties with them.
She comes back when they are in college with the intention of revenge.
She hides her identity and changes her looks a little so they would not recognize her
aaaaand let the revenge commence.

now when I say revenge I mean hurtless pranks. There is no drastic revenge. As a matter of fact, this was a fun read with sexy times and somehow sad scenes towards the end.
There is no doubt that the boys love Barrey and want her back.
We slowly come to realize why they did what they did and how they tried to atone.

Good read!

Ok so this book was aces! The storyline was amazing and a great new spin on enemies to lovers and 2nd chance romance. There are a couple reasons why this book wasn't a 5 star read to me but read them at your own risk as they might contain spoilers.

For one there were a lot of errors in the book which is no big deal since everyone makes mistakes. However, there were a lot of name mix up which was kind of annoying. For two I get the revenge on Axel thing but honestly it felt a little anticlimactic with the aftermath. Another thing that got to me was Miles and Sarah. I thought for sure something would happen there but she was mentioned once and then never again. Maybe there will be a book about her? Not sure but she seemed like she would of been a good character to have more than one scene. I know it sounds like I'm complaining alot but trust me when I say the good in this writing outweighs the bad. All in all I would definitely recommend this book!

Well there were good parts and not so good parts. i liked the story and it's easy to see something like that happening. I felt that Barry was a little immature at times and she needed to cut them some slack. They all wanted to apologize but she just ran and never gave them the chance. I liked the way that her father brought them back together and it was nice seeing the relationships build back up.

Cute reverse harem standalone. Light bully

I actually really enjoyed this reverse harem “bully” romance. It is a standalone. The girl and her 3 guys grew up best friends, until one awful mistake the guys made when they were 13 years old that had our girl running as far away as possible. 9 years later, our girl is back for revenge. Do not think of your typical “bullyness”. Her revenge is basically just pranks to get them back. They don’t know she is their long lost best friend, although they have their suspicions. It was a cute sloooowwwww burn story. It had potential to be a little more angst worthy in the romance department but it fell a little flat. I expected them to talk more about their feelings when they were kids, since the guys were all in love with her as kids, but they didn’t go too much into that. It didn’t ruin the story by any means, there was just definite room for them to really talk about their past. It was cute seeing glimpses into their childhood at the beginning of each chapter, I really liked that because that did show the closeness they had growing up.

Amazingly written

I’ve seen this book pop up so many times in my kindle store and decided to finally read it.
I love enemies to lovers romances, but it’s even better when they main characters have a history. I loved meeting Barry and learning about what her boys did to her. I’m glad she was able to come back even stronger and give them a taste of what she felt back then.
I feel like Barry could have been a little more mean to the guys and I wish that I took them a little bit longer to realize who she was, but other than that, I loved their story. I think my favorite part was when Axel finally got out of his own head and fought for Barry like she always wanted. I have a soft spot for guys that know they messed up and are willing to do anything to get the girl back 😍

I enjoyed how each chapter started with a quote from the past, it was very sweet. I think the blurb gave me a different impression than what the story actually was. The main character doesn’t really want revenge in the same way other bully romances tend to be. She really just wants a distraction and also an explanation and apology from her childhood friends.

The story is very sweet and I rather enjoyed it. Her revenge is really just pulling some pranks. There’s not too much angst but I got a good laugh out of it.

The only things that took away from this were the sex scenes were just a little awkward? And it definitely needs to go through another round of edits. I don’t normally criticize typos or errors but it really took away some of the enjoyment in this instance.

An awesome college revenge RH. I especially loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter.

Though the revenge was a bit more like pranks but at least she got some satisfaction paying back every single exact thing that happened 🙃

I freaking squealed when Axel went to Florida. And his humiliation was the best 🤣 The reveal was heartbreaking especially what happened next.

It was hilarious reading the interactions knowing that the guys didn't know who she actually was.

A fun, sweet and spicy RH read. I would definitely recommend 💖

I love the blurb and I was expecting something different than what I got with this book, I don´t think the revenge part was what they deserved and I didn't like how by the end the FMC was ok with the excuse one of the characters gave her for not telling what they were going to do to her.

I nice quick read! I finished it in about 4 hours, I didn’t want to put it down!

I did still enjoy this, I want more of Miles though, if he gets his own book lemme know

I feel like the ending was a little lacking, we were building up for a reason as to why the boys did what they did and we were given probably the worst excuse and explanation 🤷🏻‍♀️

Started somewhat well with revenge in mind, only for the fmc to turn horny and weak. Like many of these stories, we're continually reminded why she hates them, but her body ultimately betrays her and she cannot possibly resist them. Vengence eventually turns into a series of silly pranks that seem meaningless compared to the unnecessary public humiliation she suffered at their hands. Honestly, I skimmed probably the last 20 per cent and was happy for it to be over.

BiBi’s revenge 😵

This is Barretta’s story. POV from all 4 characters.

Someone recommended this to me as a Bully romance. I would not say it is a bully romance. Yes it flashbacks to bullying but it’s immature 13 yr old bullying so in the big picture it’s not too bad.

The main reason for the main character getting her revenge come from more on who did the bullying and their relationship at that time, it was unexpected. The love between all of the characters was always 100%! The overall fallout was a little much on what actually happened, but to each their own. Fast forward 7ish yrs later and now they are at their last yr of college seeing each other for the first time since the incident actually happened.

I really did enjoy the plot to this story and liked that the author took it a different way than a lot of other RH college romances. Nothing really physical happened till almost 50% through but the chemistry was their the entire time.

Barretta, Axel, Seamus and Hayden were great characters. I enjoyed learning about them all. I wish the epilogue contained a little more about their future and I would have especially liked if Miles was included more.

It ended in a HEA and the heat factor 🔥 was pretty good, especially close to the ending 😉

Barretta (bibi) aka Barry (FMC) is back in her hometown with two things on her mind. Spending time with her family and getting some payback on Axel, Hayden & Seamus. Her childhood friends who were close enough to be family to her and she secretly had crushes on but when they do something to her that breaks that friendship Barry leaves them behind to start over somewhere else. Barry certainly has an agenda and some of the ways she gets back at them is actually pretty funny. I couldnt help but think good on her and they deserved it. In between the payback and laughs are a few tears. Yes they got me a little tearful myself. I just loved Barry and her sidekick Miles. I want him myself if Barry doesnt want him lol. He was a constant ray of sunshine in this book. I really liked this RH bully book. As much as i wanted to hate the guys (and i didnt like what they did to Barry and they need a well deserved punch for that one) as the book went on i found i actually liked them. This book was so flaming good i couldnt put it down

I absolutely loved this contemporary bully reverse harem standalone! I personally found this book perfect for me! The bullying wasn’t too dark which I loved and suited me and my preferences very well!

This was definitely a page turner and kept me wanting more and knowing what was coming next! I liked how the relationships developed as well as the confusions and doubt that followed each character!

I love Bibi (Barry) as she overcame some obstacles and faced the boys that broke her! The ending was amazing I love have Bibi’s plans came together at the end I loved her for how strong she was especially when her feelings kept coming in between her need for revenge and her love for the guys! I love the ending and was definitely satisfied with this book!

I do wish some of the more intimate scenes were expanded upon and went into further details and explore the group dynamic more!

However besides all that I truly did love this friends to enemies to lovers bully romance book! It was a satisfying read and I’m excited to read more books by this author!

Spoilers in this review.

This book was so disappointing. I read it because the reviews seemed great and I’m a sucker for stories with childhood best friends.
This, however, was so unbelievably unrealistic.

First of all, she’s 22, not 12, yet she’s incredibly immature. To be so humiliated and betrayed at the age of 13, when you’re in one of the most vulnerable stages of your life is intense. So I find it hard to believe that after suffering what she did, she comes back as an adult with hate in her heart and is suddenly over taken by lust? It really shows how weak and pathetic the author is making the female lead, which is rather disappointing. Her “revenge” on Seamus and Hayden although appropriate for what they do to her, still doesn’t match the humiliation and betrayal she went though.

The typos are too much. The repeated switch between her sister’s name being Harley and then Hailey is ridiculous. There are random quotations in some pages, missing quotes in others, there are words that aren’t even misspelled errors, just the wrong words all together, Berry’s inner monologue is rather annoying and drawn out, extremely repetitive.
I will say, having the boys’ POV is the only thing that kept this book someone readable, but Hayden knowing it’s her and not saying anything? Once again. Super unrealistic.
His little speech about hurting a girl and blah blah blah was manipulative af, too. He knows she’s Barry, which means that wasn’t something from the heart, that was to benefit him in her eyes because she doesn’t know he knows.

I will say one of the positives is that you don’t have to read forever to find out what they did to Berry. I hate when that crap is drawn out.
However, you do have to wait for nearly the entire book to find out why they did it and regardless of their age, there is no reason or justification good enough for what they did.

Not to mention, the pathetic I love you before they humiliated her and then thinking everything would just be okay was stupid. You can’t claim to love someone and then do what those boys did. I’m also not digging the fact that in these flash backs, the boys admit to having a crush on her, yet they still held her down, humiliated her, and think it’s not a big deal? Ugh.
I wish the author would have taken a more realistic approach to this book.

The intimate scenes were so beyond cringe worthy and the fact that she’s still hiding who she is from Hayden and Seamus, regardless of Hayden secretly knowing is gross. Not to mention they didn’t use a condom. Extra gross.
She doesn’t know where either of those dudes have been and they doesn’t know where she’s been. Not to mention the lack of knowledge about birth control too. I don’t care that they hurt and humiliated her. That’s such a nasty thing to do. Seamus especially, since he doesn’t know she’s really Barry.
The whole I love you thing is ridiculous. It’s only been a couple of weeks. Jesus.

I swear the author must be in like middle school or high school. Lol.
This book just kept getting worse.

I couldn’t even bring myself to read the last chapter and the epilogue. Don’t waste your time.

What is the worst betrayal? Some would say its betraying yourself, but for Barretta, it was having the three people she loved most at age thirteen hold her down, in front of the entire school, and humiliate her after telling her they loved her. That betrayal changed her whole life, and she was never the same after that. She left a week later and started over, started planning revenge.

Nine years later, it's time to pay-up, and she's loosey-goosey got plans to make them hurt so she can have closure and indeed start a new chapter. She's enrolled in their college, knows their classes, has a key to their house, and knows where they will be.

Sounds creepy, and it is, but Barry/Bibi rationalizes a lot, and you start cheering for her success. Stockholm syndrome in book-form. By the time she starts falling for her bullies, and they for her, you are so confused about who you want to be mad at--and angry for--the story gets a little bogged down.

Axel is always a wiener; you won't be rooting for him ever.

There were so many things I started asking myself about how Barry pulled off her mysterious BS with the guys. They never learn her last name when they are always showing up where she is: her work, class with her; if the guys are so eager to solve the 'who is this girl?', why couldn't they ask someone? I mean, my mom would say, 'Well, Ali, because it's not in the script,' but that seems like that would have happened. And Axel would have been creepo followed her twenty-four-seven at some point because got so obsessed.

Whateves! My mom's right, it wasn't written like that. But it drove me insane, and that is some of the things that burnt me and lowered the rating. There were also a lot of punctuation errors that kept driving me nuts. I generally don't review whinge about punctuation, but this was throughout the book and had me mentally correcting them, and it kept bouncing me out of the narrative when I saw it.

All-in-all, this is your basic RH, Bully Romance, and I have no complaints in it hitting those markers. I uber love the cover. It's what initially caught my eye when I saw the book. Kudos to the artist.

The cover is amazing but that’s about it.

I really wanted to like this and at some parts are did. I struggled to finish. The guys made me want to vomit with the love stuff. I couldn’t tell Shay from Hayden when they would talk to her. They had no personality at all. Half the time I wondered if they were the same person. Axel got on my nerves a lot. He wasn’t the silent, deadly, angry guy you hope for. Big disappointment.

From another review I had read about the pranks already and it really wasn’t that bad but being a revenge book- which in honesty it’s not- they were just childish games and the execution wasn’t good either. Barry/BiBi is still a 13 year old even in adult form. I wish she would have chosen and it should have been Miles cause he was probably the least stale of guys in the book and that’s being kind. A lot of the book is about her hormones, how much she hates/loves these boys, wants revenge, with a side of my dads dying. I mean really you come back for your dad but barley go see him because you want revenge and your pussy needs some lovin’. Face palms, eye rolls, the list goes on.

God it really needs to be edited badly! Examples:

1- I don’t know if her sisters name is Harley or Hailey?! At first it was Hailey with the mistake of Harley then just kept switching back and forth.

2- “Barry caught me going home from studying with a friend, and I couldn’t pass up tagging along and spending some time with her.” - Hayden to BiBi/Barry and Miles
at this point Hayden already knows it’s Barry but doesn’t tell her yet. He says her old nickname in his statement and no one bats an eye and just skips right over it. I thought with his admission she’d be like ‘what did you say’ or something to that affect thinking it would be the cat out of the bag deal. Guess it was another typo the author couldn’t get straight.

3- there were a lot of forget end quotation marks. It really takes away from what the person says if it instantly goes into what’s in their head so we gotta read it again because they didn’t say it out loud.

4- so many of the wrong words were used. Stay instead of say, Place instead of play, etc.

This is a to each their own kinda book. I didn’t like it but a lot do.

Revenge on.Three Hot childhood Friends takes a turn into RH Territory

Barrette’s (Barry) childhood friends Axel, Hayden, and Seamus are tight.
They pull pranks on each other and everything together so, when the boys decide to hold her down in the school cafeteria, and write l”loser” on her face she is hurt, confused, and humiliated
.
Even more so when they allow mean girl Eric, to paint her face with red lipstick, and cut her hair.

This awful incident causes Barry to flee to Florida for nine years, staying with her Aunt , where along with her Bi, male stripper bestie (and his dog Maddox) Miles, she plots he revenge.

She is going to make each of her former friends pay for what they did.

However, she didn’t take into account how hot and sexy they all got.

As old feelings start to flare up once more, can Barry look past the childhood memories of pranks, and fun to stay on track with her plans?

Well, ...I think we can ALL guess what direction THIS story is headed...*cough* RH

Yeah, you kinda new from the get go that Barry resistance levels to these three boys was going to be zilch.
The moment she first saw them all grown up, the lusty thought (and throbbing lady bits) started to control her actions.
Even Miles, and Barry’s ailing father knew what was I store for Barry Axel, Hayden, and Seamus.
The three boys who all came from disrupted family lives, who looked on Barry’s Dad Dan, as their own.
Yeah, ..You could see a mile off the part Dan was going to play in this storyline.

I guess the disappointment in this book, for me, was how quickly Barry’s resolve melted.
She tripped herself up so many times with her actions and words while thinking she was actually in control.

I made it all the way to chapter twenty-one.
I didn’t see the point in going any further when you could see where this was heading.
Aannndd...a quick glance at the epilogue confirmed my suspicions.
Plus, not so much a fan of RH.

4 stars for A Loser’s Revenge by Tammi Lynn. This is my first book from this author and it will not be my last. This book was different from other bully romances. This is a somewhat slow burn reverse harem. I felt so bad for Barry at times. While, we do not learn exactly what Seamus, Hayden, and Axel until closer to the end, we do get the feeling that it was pretty bad. “They were all I knew. I loved them like family, maybe more, and they turned their backs on me. They say time heals all wounds, and I say bulls***.” Barry wants revenge and the guys have no idea who she really is. It has been years since they have seen her, and she has changed. “My plan to get them back for everything they did will hopefully bring me closure and finally let me move on with them always being in the background of my mind. I can’t forget their betrayal.” I will say there are some extremely sad parts in this book that brought tears to my eyes, I was looking for the Kleenex. The more time Barry spends with them the hard it gets for her. She knows they deserve what she is doing too them (and they really do) but she still has feelings for them. The guys seem to have feelings for this girl called BeBe but she reminds them of someone from their past. What will the guys do when they realize who she really is? I did enjoy getting the back story in doses along the way, from all sides. Getting the guys feelings and Barry’s made the story that much better.

Revenge served

This book was pretty good. Even tho I think that her revenge was worse to what they did to her. Doing what they did to her or helped others do to her like cutting her hair and writing on her face. Did they deserve it yes but not making them run naked in front of cameras or leaving someone to walk home naked etc. That's worse then anything they did. They could of got kicked out of school or off rhe team. but she should of just found out why or atleast seen them. Everything could of been avoided. The hot sexy scenes where ok but not for a med/high burn. I just think that she was a terrible person for the nude parts. But I understood her. Yes they were teenagers and did something stupid very stupid things but she was also a young girl. The guys couldn't of expected her to forgive them. She was all kinds of confused and I dont blame her. But 8 years for revenge kinda dumb. They were adults she should of just talked to them like adults. Even tho it didnt sounds like adult behavior for any of them. Sounds like high-school crap. But over all it was a decent story and I would reread it. I will definitely read something else of hers. RH is my fav genre.

I really enjoyed Barretta and her guys so much.

Barretta or Barry is beautiful, kind, caring, but also so sassy, and has this spunk to her that I love. Her guys, Hayden, Axel, and Seamus are all so different, but they mesh so well. Axel is the leader who is always watching out for them, Hayden is the charming flirt that knows what to say, and Seamus or Shay is so sweet and gentle.

The plot was really funny but also really wholesome and sad at the same time. After Barry was betrayed by her 3 childhood best friends (Axel, Hayden, and Seamus), she promised to get revenge and runs away. Years later, she is back at the same university as her guys, but they don't know it's her (sort of), and chaos ensues. Barry starts to lower her walls and let's them in slowly but still seeks the justice that she deserves after what they put her through, but she is definitely struggling with the guilt. She's also going through so much heart ache unrelated to Axel, Shay, and Hayden, which had me a little teary....

Shout out to her bestie, Miles, i love him so much 💜🩷💜

A Lover's Revenge

I have a huge soft spot for a best friends to lovers trope and this one is kind of one. Although it comes with a fall out that drives these best friends apart. Barretta, Axel, Hayden and Seamus grew up in the same neighbourhood and were inseparable. When something happens, Barry leaves, shattered by her best friends betrayal. But she's never forgotten them and they've never forgotten her. When circumstances force Barry back to her hometown, she has plans to take revenge on the boys that once owned her heart. But what happens when she realizes those feelings for them are still very much there, when she's back in their presence.

I love reading this author, as she's someone who writes very relatable characters in very real situations. Something she managed to do in this book. The way she used flashbacks and tiny little quotes from the past at the beginning of every chapter, made me connect to these characters in a way I hardly ever do. I would love to claim I WAS Barry, but nope... I will however lick and claim Miles, he's the real MVP here :D

Anticlimactic

I liked the characters but the story was anticlimactic up until the end. When you want revenge against someone you claim to hate, you generally want to destroy their life and cause long term damage. Berry however simply played a few pranks that had no negative impact on the guy's. I kept waiting for her grand finale and was disappointed when it fizzled out. She was over the top dramatic about what they did to her and left for nine years. Then comes back for revenge now? Her behavior was juvenile. She couldn't decide if she loved them or hated them, but missed them and wanted to sleep with them and get revenge, but felt guilty and was falling in love with them but couldn't forgive them because they destroyed her, but she shouldn't have left because maybe if she stayed and listened things could've been different. She was all over the place and it was starting to get obnoxious. I really liked Miles, Seamus, Axle and Hayden. I thought their characters were well written and reacted appropriately with the storyline.

I love how each chapter started with a quote from the characters past, I think this really added to the story and made you understand just how close everyone was as children.

Our MFC annoyed the living shit out of me. She is like the annoying girls who say "I'm not like most girls" and this really got my back up. There is nothing she can't do, she's better than the guys at every sport and activity and just generally walks around like she's a badass when she shows no signs of being one. She's just a weak, immature girl with a chip on her shoulder and gets taken over by her hormones.

This was NOT a revenge plot. It was silly little childish pranks made out to be revenge against the guys. Speaking of the guys, they were lacking in substance and had no spark about them.

The only reason I carried on reading was because I really wanted to find out why the guys did what they did and guess what, I was disappointed with their reasoning as well.

I feel this book had so much potential but fell flat big time.
