Oh, well, that ending is not gonna make me rethink everything I ever thought I knew, nope, of course, it's not gonna do it.
The flashbacks are so hard and so beautiful. I'm generally a sucker for flashbacks but seeing as how these ones have so much history behind all I can say is that I LOVE THEM a lot.
I suppose at this point I can start seeing how things are gonna end, kind of, and I'm not sure what to think about it all. The journey has been great and, obviously, there is a set point that cannot be cross or changed, but still, I'm wishing it could be.

I enjoyed this 5th installment of this comic series so much more than the 4th. The 4th felt like so much filler to me, but this felt incredibly deep and meaningful to the plot and story. I love how these are linking into the movies and filling in those gaps for fans. My heart breaks all over again with Anakin, Padme and Obi Wan!

Pak continues to ably chart Vader's character development between episodes five and six.
It makes a lot of sense that his face to face confrontation with his son would have him revisiting his past and trying to deal with the fact that he is, at heart, still Anakin Skywalker and still mourning the death of his wife...a death that he ultimately caused. It's also clear that his misplaced jealousy of Obi Wan still runs deep.
Ienco's art also continues to be outstanding, and I really like the so-subtle-you-might-have-missed-it call back to Cloud City as he envisions himself falling down that shaft, rather than Luke, and regressing back to the child he was when we first met him as he does so. Illustrating that he sees so much of his old self in his son...just as Uncle Owen did.
Next issue promises to be traumatic and, possibly, be yet another step along Vader's path to redemption.

This might be the best issue of this series. I love the little nod to the original Battlefront II in the form of Polis Massa having had a rebel outpost at some point that was invaded by Imperials. With Vader seeing and hearing Padme's last words, it makes sense that he would be acting the way he is in Return of the Jedi. In The Empire Strikes Back, he is at the height of his power, but then he sees that his son would rather kill himself than join him, and then this happens. Plus, Palpatine says it's time for Vader to start over with fear. So this dovetails nicely into what we see of Vader in Return of the Jedi.

Review for the series: I think this is pretty interesting. I like the idea that Vader was a little shaken after the events of ESB and would have delved a bit more into Luke's background, especially how he was hidden from him for so long. It did start to lose me at the end, however, as it got more into the Emporer's secret plans (been there, done that, saw the movie), but I did really enjoy the writing and the artwork a lot. Clearly a lot of effort and heart was put into this series.

Fantastic stuff! Vader is story is developed really well, and we see how and why the character changes into the version we see in ROTJ.

I’m not a big Pak fan.
I’m not what he is trying to achieve here either.
But he has a point of view on Darth Vader and I respect him (and this for that).
A bit diluted, though.

I LOVED how they showed Anakin after turning to the dark side that he was still struggling and that he was still not over Padme. I also love the flashbacks that we get throughout the comic book.

This wasn't exactly an Anakin redemption arc but there were so many feelings that I feel like the films just glossed over. It was wonderful.

Some really cool throw backs to the prequels. A very emotional ending. One of my least favor tie characters is killed. I'd say it was a pretty good issue.

Ienco's art and Menon's colors are fabulous. The first page, with Vader looking down at Padme's tomb, is beautiful. Pak's first arc has been pretty darn good.....
