She publishes under two names in Japanese, that spell the same but are written with different characters. - 硝音あや: for shōjo manga - しょうおとあや: for BL manga
Definitely more Kiss of the Rose Princess than any of her other series, Stray Love Hearts takes a fantasy plot - Hiyori has a dream on the night of her 16th birthday wherein a strange man removes her heart - and combines it with a reverse harem at one of those ludicrously fancy schools that only exist in manga. Hiyori's dream did, in fact, come true, and she while she has a physical heart, her emotions are largely gone until a man at school is able to enact a temporary fix. Because she's a Dreamer (someone who can visit other peoples' dreams if she sleeps next to them), the best chance for her to get her heart back is to sleep next to lots of (hot) guys in the sketchiest dorm at school. It's all very tame and the concept is fun, if not a little convoluted. I'd imagine this will eventually make its way into English since so many of Shuoto's other series have, and that's by no means a bad thing.
A very cute manga, I'm really loving this manga artist's work but this did seem really similar to Barajou No Kiss and the whole premise doesn't make all that much sense so only 3 stars. However, I still enjoyed and will continue reading it.
Placeholder for volumes 1-5 I've always loved Aya Shouto's art, but her stories... not so much. This is the only one I stuck with, and even finished, because the mystery aspect made it slightly more interesting than the others. This probably wouldn't hold up well on a reread, but I have fond memories of it (the mc and how the mystery unravelled).
finished these 5 books 5 minutes ago. oh my. I thought i was going to had nosebleed. really. too much cute guys. each of them very unique and have their own charm. I love all of them. I even couldn't decide which one i like the most between those guys. i simply love them. I like the way their relationship to each other. though they always fight, but they really care for each other. and I groan hard (my aunt even woke up because my voice) when the story end. I want it to continue. I want to read more about. # Ren Ichikawa # Minemitsu Yamashina # Kuga Reizei # Miki Uegaito # Hijiri Asukai # Kitou Ninomiya
don't mind Hiyoki and Cain, because they have their HEA . hahahha.... can't wait to read more mangas from this mangaka.. :)
I love the art and I love the author. Some points in this story felt drawn out, but over. Almost like some of the character side stories didn’t really fit with the personalities that had been presented at the beginning of the story line, but that could have been what the author was going for.
Humor, cute, and personal discovery. The broken heart symbol is also very pretty.
Have you read any work by Aya Shouoto so far? If it’s your first try, you will get the feel of her immensely. My other favourite work by her is Pureblood + Boyfriend a. I’ll cover it some other time. Okay, now let’s get back to the story
Why I loved this series so much that I even re-read it 3 times and also fourth time to cover it ere? The answer is pretty simple. First of all, the entire plot is pretty interesting with the whole main protagonist’s heart being stolen and all that jazz… second? Heh, this is my favourite – lots of bishies. Oh I guess you may not know what a bishie is. Hot looking guy in plain words, but doesn’t bishie sound more fun? You get drool over any guy there, maybe except Azusa, but that was only for me, who know maybe you’ll like him the most.
The person who makes you droll a lot and at the same time frustrates you even more is Cain - the student council president. From eh very first pages he just makes an entrance as the bad guy, and it would have sticked perfectly to him if we are not shown his good sides throughout the story. I think the guy didn’t even understand why he wanted to monopolize Hiyoki in the very beginning. Pathetic as it seems, he makes an amazing character and fan girl material for a long time.
The story catches your interest from the very beginning with a unique idea. Okay, the harem is not that new, but how Hiyoki ended up in the harem, that’s what was interesting. Shouoto sensei doesn’t disappoint in the fantasy and mystery division. She brings to life so many interesting ideas and no matter what kind of hypothesis you try to conclude she just takes and breaks all stereotypes as a will as your ideas, presenting something absolutely new and interesting.
I hope you’ll find some time to read this great story. Set yourself with Hiyoki on a journey to retrieve her heart and have fun in a world of hot guys. There are only 20 chapters, but every one of those is full of secrets that wait for you to unravel them. Enjoy it to its fullest and don’t forget to share your thoughts below.
My first impression of this was that the characters were GORGEOUS. But about 15 pages in, their closeness to perfection irked me. It's almost like the vampires in Vampire Knight. I really struggled to keep on reading through the book. But when I got about a chapter and a half in, it was smooth sailing from there. Although the beginning seemed almost unbelievable to me and a bit too fast paced for my liking.
To start off, there's a whole bunch of people introduced at once. I'm not a big fan of this. It confused me a lot. But the men were GORGEOUS. I wonder how she remembers names after a second of meeting them? I have a horrible memory...
The main character, I don't even remember her name, is too much of the sweet innocent cute stereotype. But she's SO cute and SO sweet, I guess I'll tolerate it. >_<
The boys... Typical stereotypes. The dark emo music obsessed one, the friendly happy guy, the cute quiet one, the playboy, the meanie head president, and the smartitude guy. Yes, I just said smartitude guy.
Enough with the bad! What I like about this is that it all seems like one long dream. It makes me feel like I'm floating on the clouds off in my own wonderland.
The concept of literaly having your heart stolen from you is very interesting and a nice fantasy element. The idea of dream hopping like that is fun to think about. ^^
All in all, this was a decent manga. Not one of the most memorable manga, but a good time passer.
I hadn't heard about this at all when it showed up at the train station bookstore - and it looked like reverse harem fantasy (which it is) which we haven't gotten much of in manga yet (or in any other medium, I don't think animes or games with that trope have made it to Germany yet).
The artwork is really very cute and the boys are clearly separated and characterised, but the heroine Hiyoki is ditzy and clueless and people love her for her naivete and being cute. So I don't think this is a reverse harem I'll be happy with. It must be successful though, because three volumes of the story have already been released.
Fortunately these days there's a lot of selection out there, so I don't have to take second best. And I'm sure if I was 13 or 12, I'd love this manga ^^.
This is a sweet little shoujo manga, one of the few shoujo that I can actually stomach. Even though Hiyoki is a little "blonde" she's very sweet, and does get it in the end. The characters are all cliched butttt this is one of those stories that give the old cliches a new 'spin' and is totally worth reading. I love it and pretty sure those in their early teens would love it too! Hehe I could read this over and over again, it's the kind of fluffy chick lit that I just can't get enough of! It's also great that it doesn't drag on, has a sensible, clever little plot with heaps of mystery and intrigue, mixed with romance, sweet and charming.
Series Review: Stray Love Hearts is a unique and intriguing manga. To me the characters were what really drew me to the story as the plot gets less interesting between the beginning and end. I became more interested in the characters and their past as the series went on. The ending was surprising and over all a good way to end the series though I was a bit sad it was so short. I recommend giving this series a try.
Actually, I read this at the manga. The whole series so I'll just post on the first book here.
This is so cool and I love all the boys here. Her going to S hall is so cute and she was called a "chick" because of her hair which resemble a chick, LOL!
It's not as bad as most shojo manga, although it still has some of the same cliches in a reverse harem where the girl usually solve's a guy's problem so he ends up liking her and whatnot.
